From X:

"Matt Rattley, a non-stipendiary biochemistry lecturer at Oxford's St Hilda’s College and part-time in the Department of Biochemistry, shared recent photos of himself wearing noticeable prosthetic breasts while teaching. Critics raise concerns about the impact on students, including young female GCSE and A-level tutees and women at the historic women’s college, with some academics like Professor Michael Biggs suggesting it could create a degrading environment or even amount to sexual harassment. Oxford University emphasizes maintaining professional standards and respect for students while fostering inclusivity, but declines to comment on individual cases. The situation highlights ongoing discussions over personal expression versus workplace expectations in education."

Of course it's sexual harassment. I'd go as far as to say it's assault - forcing women to participate in his fetish without their consent. Women and girls - he also tutors A level and GCSE students.

I am so sick of these men and their perversions being forced on us, and if we do not consent we're the bad guys. Just, no. Enough.

I’d be fascinated to hear if anyone can defend this. Surely there must be some “trans allies” reading who can have a stab at explaining why it’s appropriate?

There have been threads mentioning him before, a poster called OxfordFeminist's defends him to the hilt. I can't remember any of the points they made because I skip most of the comments they leave.

Oops I should have read more of the comments, and there's always Alcopops, who always tries to defend the indefensible, rationalises the irrational, normalises the abnormal of course.

That’s the bit I can’t abide. Why are we expected to ‘celebrate’ the sexual preferences and proclivities of others?

Quite. I don’t give two hoots what anyone does as long as no one else is harmed and I don’t have to hear about it.

Good to see Matt Radley getting another well deserved airing. Hopefully student complaints will get there in the end.

I don't think any woman wears a bra because as she thinks it's great. She wears a bra because she has to.

Any bloke who wears a bra is taking the piss.

(Sorry my male friend who wears a bra in public who has loads of FB friends sea lioning this... )

idontknowhowtodreamyourdreams · Yesterday 22:52

If he were an actually woman dressed like that in the workplace then HR would have a chat about dressing appropriately. But he’s not a woman, he’s an entitled man, and so we must all indulge him in his bizarre fantasies.

Imagine paying the ££ if tuition fees and then having to look at THAT.

so you'd be okay to watch debates in the House of Commons with the women wearing bikinis and the men wearing hot pants and studded dog collars? And vice versa, of course.

As I think debates should be judged on the arguments made, not how the participants are clothed, I really wouldn't feel like objecting to MPs wearing any form of legal attire.

The ad on this thread a few posts up is for a bra.....

A bra? He needs a fucking scaffold to hold those manifestations in place.

Uhoh. Did you see what I did there? MANifestations! Unintentional, but I like it.

It's more I'm now interested what the story actually is because I'm sure there is one

But I don't go there so once again it's none of my business.

I think by that snarky little comment you might be implying that, as most of us don't go to Oxford, its none of our business either.
So Mumsnetters, we have been told, unless we are personally involved, we should not call out questionable behaviour, or defend those who are impacted by what we know is dodgy behaviour because it's none of our business.
No speaking up for a woman being harassed on the street - none of our business.
No raising concerns about a child with unexplained bruises - none of our business.
No calling out misogynistic power displays from elite educators imposed on young people - none of our business.
Can't imagine who that rule benefits...
Just another way to silence those pesky women who continue to safeguard, and disrupt the behaviour of questionable men.

Good on you for calling out our unreasonable behaviour.
It's people like you who make the world a better place.

Well then, you are part of the problem my friend.

What is a furries society? The mind boggles!

Ostensibly a group for people who want to dress up as furry animals but there are apparently those who ‘identify’ as animals and a further subdivision for whom it’s all about kinky sex involving their tails.
I had never heard of them until a couple of years ago when we were on holiday in Prague and saw a parade of Furries through the city, my son explained who they were.

This post made me think of the bra scenes in Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.

Women who have had actual need to wear bras since puberty pretty much loathe the bloody things. Instruments of fucking torture. I would happily send all mine to this Matt bloke.

I wonder which toilets he uses. Makes me think of NC's Big Pete, except for the addition of deliberately mocking fake breasts. I also can't abide the faux-anxiety he writes with in his posts. Sorry, but if you're leaving the house and turning up at work like that then you don't really care about other people's perception of you, you are a massive narcissist who is getting off on the power play of no-one challenging it

The persecution fantasy is part of the thrill for many of these men, I think.

When I first saw his photo I thought it was Karl Pilkington.

And why’s it always got to be a teacher. The bloke who comes to read the gas meter doesn’t dress like that.

And if he did I should imagine he'd get the door shut on him by many. I certainly wouldn't let a man presenting like that over the threshold at all, let alone into a house behind a closed door with me alone. And I'd absolutely be ringing British Gas (or whoever) to say that if they sent him again I'd be changing supplier. There would be an outcome the company wouldn't like, so he'd either not be employed in the first place if he insisted on presenting like that, or he'd be told he couldn't dress like that while working.

Interesting that the 'defence' here is either "There has to be more to it in order to explain this away" or "No-one is defending him so why are you getting het up?" Hmm

This is something I don't understand about this man.

Does he actually claim to identify as a (trans) woman or does he simply identify as a man who gets a kick out of wearing women's clothes and giant fake breasts?

Does he claim to have a right to use women's single sex spaces or does he just use men's facilities like any other bloke?

I know none of the trans stuff makes sense anyway, but it seems particularly incogruous to keep the ridiculous hipster straggly beard if you actually want to identify as a woman and try (very poorly) to appear like one

The absolute state of him……

Oxford is rapidly becoming an institution to avoid. Never mind being the crème de la creme and shame on them for hiring someone like this which has blatantly been done as some kind of EDI box ticking initiative. Was there really nobody better for the post? Because if not they sure are scraping the barrel.

Edited

I wonder the same.

I don't know if it helps any but on Oxford University's website they refer to him as Mr Matt Rattley. Funnily enough he's one of the few people for whom they've not included a photograph.
