Matt Rattley, Oxford lecturer, and his prosthetic breasts

From X:

"Matt Rattley, a non-stipendiary biochemistry lecturer at Oxford's St Hilda’s College and part-time in the Department of Biochemistry, shared recent photos of himself wearing noticeable prosthetic breasts while teaching. Critics raise concerns about the impact on students, including young female GCSE and A-level tutees and women at the historic women’s college, with some academics like Professor Michael Biggs suggesting it could create a degrading environment or even amount to sexual harassment. Oxford University emphasizes maintaining professional standards and respect for students while fostering inclusivity, but declines to comment on individual cases. The situation highlights ongoing discussions over personal expression versus workplace expectations in education."

Of course it's sexual harassment. I'd go as far as to say it's assault - forcing women to participate in his fetish without their consent. Women and girls - he also tutors A level and GCSE students.

I am so sick of these men and their perversions being forced on us, and if we do not consent we're the bad guys. Just, no. Enough.

Good grief

I’d be fascinated to hear if anyone can defend this. Surely there must be some “trans allies” reading who can have a stab at explaining why it’s appropriate?

Arran2024 · Yesterday 13:57

He was in the press last year for this so presumably nothing happened to stop him and so he won't be stopping any time soon.

I'd be interested in that too.
Anyone...?

Lindy2 · Yesterday 14:00

Even if he was actually female it wouldn't be appropriate to be teaching with so much cleavage on show. No professional woman would dress like that at work.

It's a kink in plain sight.

AgentPidge · Yesterday 14:00

I can imagine he will be the object of derision by students. Kids can be brutal. Presumably you only do this if you really, really don't care what people think. But if he has hurty feelings about people being horrible, then maybe he should... stop.

There was a thread about this last year and we all got scolded for saying it was clearly a fetish by someone claiming to be an "Oxford Feminist" an oxymoron in itself if they are defending this pervert. The lengths some people go to in order to refuse to see what is plainly in front of them is astounding. I really feel for the female students of this man.

Edit: apologies it wasn't last year that thread was created, it was earlier this year - it's felt like a long year...

Absolutely, but we can't "kink shame" or whatever can we !

Your first sentence was literally my first thought. I am not small of chest but “somehow” professionally and personally then l don’t go around showing vast expanses of cleavage

TemporarilyCantDoMyself · Yesterday 14:12

Never mind a stab at defending him, I'd like to take a bloody stab at his ridiculous balloons on his front. Happily. 💥

Nope and therein lies the problem. I see it as goady behaviour daring someone to complain and then he can play the victim. Outrageous.

overhare · Yesterday 14:20

Our drive-by scolders rarely appear on threads like this.

We had Oxford Feminist last year. Let's see if anyone pops up this time.

Additup · Yesterday 14:21

WTF 😂😂😂
He looks utterly ridiculous.

Also, I might be missing the point but why do these men wear plastic breasts like Gazza circa 1996? Why don't they just get implants? Obviously they still wouldn't be as nice as the real thing and he'd still look like a tool but at least he'd have something to entertain himself with when everyone avoids him for bring a weirdo.

Yes it is goady and obscene, this man gets a thrill from wearing enormous breasts to work everyone else just have to look at them !

I imagine if they were actual breasts on an actual woman and she rocked up to a lecture like that, she would be taken aside and a quiet word would be had.

But if they're latex and attached to a big bearded bloke it's perfectly fine and indeed to be celebrated.

Most women don’t. Men like this do it “for show” like wearing skimpy pants and a crop top whilst taking part in a 10k race. The women are wearing proper running attire.

That’s the bit I can’t abide. Why are we expected to ‘celebrate’ the sexual preferences and proclivities of others?

I'm sure the usual suspects will be along in a minute to tell us this doesn't harm us in any way and we need to get a grip.

Did I read that this fucking creep tutors GCSE and Alevel students? If so, their parents need a hard drive check

Celebrate and participate in their kink without our consent, or we're evil transphobic genociders. Or something.

(Side question but I’m puzzled my the mention of GCSE and A’Level tutees since St Hilda’s is a university college.)

Utterly gross for the undergraduates forced to witness this behaviour.

He tutors A level and GCSE students privately, in addition to lecturing at St Hilda's.

At least Kenny Everett was funny. And not teaching kids.

I like to think KE would have had a lot to say about this nonsense. Bless him.
