Strange that both reports are from Scotland!

Ikea had a new sign on their accessible toilet today saying ‘gender neutral toilet.’ It looks like they might have actioned the EHRC guidance.

So now the disabled have to lose their facilities because of these Gender Idiots.😤

lcakethereforeIam · 16/08/2026 17:31

I was visiting someone in a NHS hospital in Liverpool yesterday. I've no idea what their trans inclusion policy is but the accessible toilet by the main entrance was marked for all genders. There was a male and female toilet too. There should be something to encourage ambulatory trans-addled people to consider others for once and use the toilets appropriate for their sex.

I would think that would be another lawsuit waiting to happen now, as I think services are required to provide accessible toilets for the disabled ( is this correct? @Keeptoiletssafe ) if they have the capacity. And so if they are no longer available on a regular basis, because they are being used for "other purposes " there might be a case for indirect discrimination?

Any lawyers want to comment?

murasaki · 16/08/2026 17:40

Some of them may well have disabilities, some caused by surgery, but yes, it's a potential sticky wicket.

Particularly since we're not supposed to say that there are mental, hence invisible, disabilities involved, which might well entitle trans people to use those facilties, and they wouldn't want to admit that either.

Anyone got a share of the linked article about why the Chair quit last week? It mentions “culture” so I wondered if there was any relevance.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/08/2026 17:47

Good news though! I guess some of them are just now getting their legal department opinions back.

And their insurance people...

lcakethereforeIam · 16/08/2026 17:54

I'm sure I read something about the Coventry Building Society the other day and, iirc, they merged or outright bought the Co-op.

Thanks but I was hoping for a share token, I can’t get past the paywall.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/08/2026 18:25

Thank you, I wonder if there is a new broom involved after the departure of this Chair and that ridiculous CEO:

Some organisations immediately put their policies under view, with many of them tending to permit staff to use the facilities in which they felt most comfortable. Others waited on guidance from the EHRC. In May last year, after the ruling, then Co-op boss Shirine Khouly-Haqsaid she would “protect [trans] people to the end”. She left the business earlier this year shortly after a BBC investigation reported on a “toxic culture” inside the company.
Chair Debbie White quit the company last week.

The Telegraph also an article about the Co-op.

Sorry I don't have a share token I read it on MSN.

Hedgehogforshort · 16/08/2026 19:15

Well i think the FWS ruling is just starting to bite.

Eventually i do believe, the cross dressers and other dodgy men will have to think of other ways of getting their kicks.

not so sure how long the rest of this edifice is going to fade away, but it will not be a sudden puff of smoke for sure…..

HannahinHampshire · 16/08/2026 19:25

the Telegraph article - I hope the share token works. Don’t know why the Times share tokens are not working for me at the moment?

Thanks for the Telegraph one!

lcakethereforeIam · 16/08/2026 20:48

Ffs! 'Intersex' isn't something you can identify as.

murasaki · 16/08/2026 21:51

It isn't even something you can be. Either male or female with a DSD.

Monstershark · 16/08/2026 22:39

Marks and Spencer are still holding onto to the trans. I went to try some clothes on in a changing room marked Try It On . The changing room in the men's clothing area was closed so the other area (they don't even have women's clothes signposted ) was mixed sex. I accidentally walked in on a young girl changing in a curtained cubicle and exposed her to the men whi walking in and out of the changing rooms . I complained , but the assistants didn't seem to think it was a problem. This is a huge safeguarding risk that M&S are posing to their customers and it's not fair in the men and women forced into this situation

Hoardasurass · 16/08/2026 22:58

The British mountaineering association now have a female category for biological females (all classes) and an open category

I think that our perspective is that things shifting back to sensible is taking forever, but when we look back historically speaking it will be seismic shift.

moto748e · 17/08/2026 00:59

Hope so, but there's a long way to go yet, I think. I just worry about how institutionalised it is.
