14⁰. I was definitely chilly.

Sometimes I trawl through the image galleries of old threads.
I found this - there was a fad at the time for mosaic pictures.
I loved this one so much I saved it - wonderful, isn't it?

No, but at least their feet tend to stop growing before their shoe size hits double figures. I've had years and years of them growing out of school shoes two or three times a year!

Thanks for the latest installment @MyrtleLion. I particularly liked the bit on how to tell which piece of glass was the copy. Glass is a liquid - it just flows really slowly at room temperature. Old glass panes are thinner at the top than the bottom.

Girls reach an age when they require bras. If you have awkwardly-structured DDs like mine - big boobs, small back or whatever - you can't just pop into M&S.

Though I suppose bras are cheaper than shoes.

Speaking of which I have 3 assorted M&S bras upstairs. I think trying them on has allowed me to scry the runes and decide that I need band size up one and cup size the same.

Though it varies by design, as one of them I can't even do up. Unlike a different design in the same size, which is only a bit tight.

When I was about 13, and as a flat as a board, and longing for womanly curves, no one ever told me that bra-buying would be such a pain in the sodding neck.

Ah, well. Off to the Post Office on Monday.

Sounds very nice. Today was a very nice day, but around 21C I think, which is the coolest we've had since early June, I think.

Same here. We had some interesting clouds alongside the sun, but no rain. I have got 6 buckets waiting hopefully in the garden....

I'm fairly safe from wanting to buy anything on that thread, I tend to channel grown up goth biker chick in winter and colourful bohemian hippy in summer. My style has been described as alternative goth but really I'm a dopamine dresser.

Our lawn is a parched wasteland.

I went on the 10-hare walk today with B&B and only saw seven... But we did see three buzzards, some swallows, two pheasants (well done, Brains) and a kestrel.

One of the buzzards was on its own, but the other two got up from the crows' old patch, which means that either the crows have fledged their young and gone elsewhere for their own crowy reasons, or that the buzzards eventually drove them out. As they appeared from the trees, all the pigeons scarpered in various directions - they do not like buzzards at all. The buzzards flapped and glided about a bit, moving gradually away, calling to one another. It's a sound that really belongs to wild places and mountain passes, not mown fields abutting wheat stubble with traffic noise blown over on the breeze.

We're also in the season of little flocks of goldfinches suddenly bursting up from verges where they've been feasting on the seeds. Apparently they're partial to thistles, but I've seen them coming away from knapweed and willowherb with few to no thistles in evidence.

I've said it before and will no doubt say it again: I love the countryside. It hits some spot in my psyche and everything feels better.

Which was fortunate, as this evening I had a two and a half hour zoom committee meeting. It was friendly and constructive, but after 2 hours I was entirely done.

Yeah, and me too - I have stumbled across an absolutely lovey skirt. Not extortionately expensive, and probably long enough. One of my two summer skirts is really showing its age so I have an excuse.

And we're going to a birthday party later this month...

I'll, er, leave the tab open and think about it tomorrow.
