Started because a thread on Girlguiding was getting too off topic.

I would suggest a course of lessons in basic biology for the OP.

Save your breath. These people aren't interested in biology, it's very inconvenient for them so they ignore it.

Who can forget the fragrant DOCTOR Upton asserting under questioning that he's a biological woman on account of the fact that he has biology and he's a woman, ergo he's a biological woman.

Hey @user08101988 I have read the study- very interesting. It isn't quite the 'eureka' moment you are hoping for though...

"The Brain Sex of transgender women was estimated as 0.75 ± 0.39, thus hovering between cisgender men and cisgender women, albeit closer to cisgender men (see also Figure 1). The follow-up post hoc tests revealed that transgender women were significantly more female than cisgender men (Cohen’s d = 0.64, t(46) = 2.20, p = 0.016), but significantly less female than cisgender women (Cohen’s d = 1.87, t(46) = 6.48, p < 0.001)"

So it seems the transgender women who were tested have brain sex of somewhere in between Male and Female but closer to male.

Edited

There whole threads on this brain shit.

There's also the extremists brain and how it's different to non extremists. But can be changed with exposure to a balanced world rather than living in an echo chamber so....

Gerbilconda · Yesterday 13:37

OP look up Martina Big. I bet if you scanned her brain she would have no difference between hers and black women's brains.

Except we (rightly) think of transracial people as offensive and/or mentally unwell. No amount of aligning your personality/fashion/skin colour to another culture will make you the race of those people.

I'm sure there are plenty of people with a fascination or even slight envy of other cultures - I know when I was a kid I was really interested in indigenous American culture and wished I could have grown up as indigenous. I also felt more "aligned" to masculinity.

But I'm a white European female and no amount of wishful thinking, surgery or appropriation is going to change that.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · Yesterday 13:38

Phew! I'm glad the OP has come to settle that little debate for us old fashioned women.

They are biological females due to this study: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8955456/

Also, if you think stripping down what women are to their body parts, that's what feminists fought against for years. Now women can get jobs, start bank accounts, own property, and so many more things. This is a very regressive view of what women are.

That is categorically not what feminists fought for in the past nor what they are still fighting for now. They fought for women, precisely defined by their body parts, to have equal opportunities, equal rights, freedom of expression, freedom to own property, freedom to vote, freedom to wear trousers and have short hair and not look feminine at all. They did not ever fight for men to be able to claim those hard won rights by putting on a dress.

This board is primarily for parents of LGBTQ+ children to share personal experiences and advice.

This needs repeating. ⬆️

What a shame that someone has chosen to try to make this space all about them and their agenda.

Hopefully they will not fall for his nonsense.
As believing it will not help them support their troubled children.

A trans identified man barged into a space that wasn't designed for him and then proceeded to make everything all about him?

Colour me astonished.

No, they are most certainly not!

I’ll bite. If we aren’t defining women by biology, which you infer is reductive, which stereotypes do you use to define women?

This was covered: "femininity" was specified. Quote.

AKA (Cambridge):

the fact or quality of having characteristics that are traditionally thought to be typical of or suitable for a woman: Long hair was traditionally regarded as a sign of femininity. The flowers and cream lace of the dress indicate femininity and delicacy.

No thanks. Regressive as hell.

As long as we resist males who tell us that our minds and behaviour define us, we'll hold on to the current precious recognition that biologically female humans - women - can be and do anything they want (and those precious bank accounts etc.) But start agreeing with posters like this that to be a woman is to be feminine, and we're back to where we were 50 years ago.

It's so, so archaic to accept that women are 1) what a male says and 2) "feminine".

I can't believe it's resurfaced in this form.

fact

1. something that is known to have happened or to exist, especially something…

Babe, you're a bloke.

I agree, but for a more accurate description I think we should place the adjective 'deluded' front of the noun 'bloke'.

Sortingmyself · Yesterday 13:40

No they aren't.
No they shouldn't.

Tana433 · Yesterday 13:41

Im not sure why you bothered to make this thread unless you are being deliberately goady and im not sure why so many are engaging with you. No, trans women are not real women however way you slice it and no they should not be allowed in our female spaces. Hope that helps.

Datun · Yesterday 13:41

The OP started out on FWR, and basically got told where to go, despite informing us that we were slow and stupid.

So it's very reassuring that even though he went to the trouble of moving the thread somewhere else, he still gets exactly the same answer.

Albeit with added irritation that he's posting in the wrong space entirely.

Which seems to be a bit of a theme...

DogearedPaperbackWriter · Yesterday 13:41

You and others are free to think whatever they like, but the fact is that trans women are men who like to think of themselves as women. However, they are not actually women, and it is physically impossible for them to be women. They cannot change their DNA, and DNA is what determines whether a person is male or female. Only females can be women.

And finally, because they are not women, they definitely do not belong in women-only spaces, no matter how much that may hurt some people's feelings. Life is hard sometimes, but it doesn't change the truth, which is that people with male DNA (including trans women) don't belong in spaces reserved for people with female DNA (ie women).

allthemind · Yesterday 13:42

You don't really belive that born males who decide to identify as women become actual biological women, stop being silly.

How can you become identical to biological women, what are you transing away from then, you silly man. Nobody much cares how you identify, what you want to wear or who you want to have sex with, as long as you stay away from female sports and spaces and young children. Get a grip. You have nothing in common with my biological reality as an adult female.

Use whatever pronouns you like, you're a male choosing to present as non binary, female or whatever. Knock yourself out. You aren't the same as me and never will be. Please try and be happy in yourself as you are and stop insulting women.

WrongKindOfFeminist · Yesterday 13:42

user08101988 · Yesterday 12:50

I appreciate the question. I am a trans-fem non-binary person. This means, while I was AMAB, I mostly see myself aligned with femininity. However, I do not see myself within the binary of gender, so that's why I use those pronouns

Mate. You're a man.

Nobody really cares how you feel, just stay out of women's spaces.

Thanks.

ClarasSisters · Yesterday 13:42

They are called women, much like women who were assigned female at birth are cisgender women. Trans is just an adjective

Fucking hate that expression. Assigned male/female at birth sounds like there was a choice, made by the person who delivered you or summat. You're yanked out of the womb and 'this one's a girl, that one's a boy'. Nope. It happens before birth. And cisgender was never a thing until trans was.

This

Also I find all this brain/body stuff very odd. I am not a brain walking about in a meat suit, I am a fully integrated human being who happen to be female, not a collection of seperate bits.

So no.

banmusk · Yesterday 13:43

How about 'trans-women are real trans-women and should have access to trans-women's spaces'?
Now Mr trans-woman, what you need to do is devote your energy to campaigning for trans-women's spaces.

I suppose it's useful to show that these tedious men are still whanging on to try and force access to women's services and spaces.

No, saying women are female human beings is NOT reducing women to their body parts! What a tired old chestnut 😂 It’s correctly identifying their sex. A sex that is different to yours.

No, men aren’t women, and no, men shouldn’t be in women’s single sex spaces.

You say you’re trans fem non-binary. Lovely, if that makes you happy. But what it doesn’t make you is a woman. Women are female people. We’re not clothes, make up or feminine interests. Saying that we are is regressive, reductive - and incorrect.

I’m guessing you’re youngish. Look back a few decades and see how confident men were to express their femininity without thinking it somehow magically changed their sex. Men can wear make up, dresses and be feminine but they’re still men.

TheThirteenthFairy · Yesterday 13:44

Dadalus · Yesterday 12:42

I want to see OP back up their claim from the other thread that trans people's brains are identical to those of the sex they identify as.

Edit: they've just posted the study they think shows this but doesn't.

Edited

Even if their brains are identical to those of the sex they identify as - so what? It's their bodies in our spaces we object to.

galaxyfaraways · Yesterday 13:44

No they are not real woman.

Blanknotebook · Yesterday 13:45

XY cannot become XX just because you declare that it is. You can dress like a woman, have surgery to resemble a woman, take female hormones, live ‘like’ a woman, but you will never actually become a ‘real’ woman.
