What is in the water this week?! Glinner now making a mockery of the cause

RobynMiller · 24/04/2026 17:06

I know I know I should just get off twitter but this week is just back to back GC news and not in a good way.

If you haven't seen, Glinner posted a video mocking Green Leader Zack Polanski, understandable plenty of material for a comedy writer there, but the video is so unhinged and unfunny.

Some speculating Graham was drunk when he made it but it's been 24 hours and he's left it up so maybe not.

I feel like we are finally gaining real ground in this fight and this makes GCs look like a bunch of lunatics.

I know there is no formal hierarchy but like it or not, for better and worse, we do have public faces and 'spokespeople' for this fight and this is just embarrassing.

I just feel so helpless because there can't be any accountability for this kind of thing but my God.

Thanks for listening to my rant, just been a very frustrating week.

Maybe go back and read some of your posts? There are hundreds (maybe thousands?) of them. Look at how you desperately attempt to overlay women's experiences of motherhood, love for our children, understanding of our sex based reality with your own narrow personal experiences? And maybe ask yourself why you're so attracted to trying to dominate women in this way?

It will need some self reflection and perhaps an uncomfortable insight into why you choose to repeatedly post in place where you display such contempt for women's reality?

It's up to you whether you choose to engage in that level of self insight or not.

I'm not going to collude in derailing this thread any more - 3 posts from me challenging your endless posts is more than enough.

Trans women are not a part of 'women's reality' in any form different than trans men being a part of 'men's reality.' Sex realists believe trans children are an attack on safeguarding. Sex realists manufacture concerns that require protection.

I cannot control what you sense as contempt. Obviously, all people who question sex realist beliefs are contemptible on mumsnet.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 08/05/2026 21:57

SionnachRuadh · 08/05/2026 21:35

I'm not sure it's very productive if one side of a conversation thinks the conversation is about safeguarding, and the other side thinks the conversation is an opportunity to explain at great length about their ontological essence.

John Lennon made a whole bunch of solo albums in the 1970s that even diehard Beatles fans pretend don't exist, because John imagined that the minutiae of his life with Yoko were as fascinating to the rest of the world as they were to him.

😁
I'm so often in awe of the broad general knowledge of women on here. It makes posting on the board a real pleasure. Flowers

You've not lived a single second of your life as a woman. And you know it.

Everyone I know would disagree with you, if asked, I would guess. We'll never find out though, so I guess you will have to live on knowing you are correct.

You really do have nothing in common with women, despite whatever you think about your physical presentation being identical to us.

This is the sex realist response to the request for trans people's dignity. Yes.

And what about the right of female people's dignity? You don't care about that, do you?

Even if that is true (I doubt it) and everyone you know is colluding in your delusion, the Emperor is still naked.

TWETMIRF · 09/05/2026 08:17

The emperor is naked and he's got his penis out in the women's changing rooms

For me, 'being a woman' describes the state of having spent my life in a female body, and the experiences and treatment that has occurred as a direct result of that, and only as a result of that.
So it's impossible for a person who hasnt spent their life in a female body to have that in common with me.
A TW may have some things in common with me. They may like certain activities our society has decided are female coded, which I do too.
They may like to present their outward appearance in a way our society has decided is female coded, as do I.
They may prefer the idea of being a woman to being a man, which, despite us not being the fortunate ones, I also do.
But these are superficial things that don't define womanhood, because they are personality traits or the adoption of societal norms, either via socialialistion (women) or choice (TW).
TW may have suffered from violence and harassment at the hands of men, as have I. And while the impact on us may give us a shared experience of fear, violation and trauma, the causes are different. We are victims of men due to misogyny or predation. You, due to toxic masculinity.
While we may find common ground in the impact of these behaviours, the causes are fundamentally different. TW experience problem behaviour from misogynist men because they are not women. We experience it because we are.

What you are, entirely unsurprising, missing is that women do not need other people to tell them that they're a woman!

You have no idea what it's like to live in a woman's body. The result of internal organs and female anatomy, day in, day out. Effecting numerous, constant decision making. None of which involves 'as a man I would like to, need to...' etc.

There are 6500 genetic differences between women and men, none of which involves the opinions of your friends either, funnily enough.

Men like you and trans-parent effectively burnt through any and all leeway women were prepared to offer. You can forget it.

There is a false dichotomy being created that either you pretend boys are girls on their say so or you allow bullying of boys who believe they're girls. Clear policies are best for everyone and actually most likely to reduce bullying. It takes the burden of keeping themselves safe and protecting their privacy and dignity off girls, and that frees them up to be friendly and supportive.

Or vice versa obviously.

Or if you don't pretend, you are bullying.

The hyperbolic emotional blackmail has run its course, no one is buying it any more.

I take male claims to be a woman equally seriously as I would take their claims to be Napoleon.

MissusSimonNeil · 11/05/2026 14:16

I'm GC and people like Linehan make me want to stick my head in a bucket of boiling piss. He's arrogant, obnoxious and downright objectionable. He does nothing but make us look like raving lunatics. (I realise how much of a lunatic I appear talking about sticking my head in a bucket of piss).

What this fight needs is rational, calm, fact-based arguments. What this fight needs is far more Emma Hiltons and far fewer Julia Hartley-Brewers. Even Sharon Davies makes me cringe.

It's fascinating isn't it, the range of people who have in common the fact that they know humans cannot change sex? It's almost as if it is blindingly obvious to everyone, whatever their personality/sex/political affiliation.

PS It's Sharron

Why on earth did you feel the need to correct me?

It's not fascinating at all, because it's just basic biology. I just wish the more moderate voices could make themselves heard a bit more. I hate that fact that GCs are labelled far right when that's not my position at all.

thirdfiddle · 11/05/2026 14:39

I think different styles of convincing are needed because we need different people to be convinced. I find the calm arguments of a Helen Joyce or an Emma Hilton utterly compelling. Clearly others are more convinced by emotional appeals or irreverent humour.

I don't disagree - but it's the Linehans of this world that capture attention through their irreverent and controversial behaviour. It does those of us who consider ourselves moderate no favours at all. We all look like raving lunatics. That's why I'm saying more Emma Hiltons, etc and less of the far-right commentators - let's hear a bit more of the reasoned argument and less of the invective.

I wasn't calling Linehan et al far-right. What I was doing very badly is trying to explain that I get frustrated that because of the methods that Linehan, Davies etc employ, they get accused of being far right.
Those far-right voices that I am sick of hearing like Hopkins, Walsh, Fox, who do voice quite strong, offensive rhetoric, (not just about trans ideology) do the cause of the moderates, those of us who just believe in biology, no good. Those other, less conventional, stronger personalities then end up being tarnished and really, by extension, make the rest of us look like lunatics.

Because I have a name that frequently gets spelled incorrectly and it doesn't bother me one iota.
