Medical and forensic investigations do take place of course, every time. It is the first thing that is done in a case of sexual assault.
My mother works as a doctor in a sexual assault centre, for cases just like this. The victims are usually not even allowed to chance clothes before they are examined, to maintain as much evidence as possible. The medical examination is very thorough (which as you can imagine is often an unpleasant experience for someone who's suffered a sexual assault, but it is to make the conclusions as reliable as possible). Sometimes the doctors have to go to court to testify their conclusions.
The police may not have released the exact details, but rest assured the examinations will have taken place.

I know two people personally who have lied about rape.

First, said she was gang raped by 3 black males in an alleyway. Went through a medical examination the lot. Her phone was seized. Medical exam and her phone examination and whatever they found meant the investigation was no further actioned.

Second. Fell out with her boyfriend and claimed to boyfriend she was raped in a car by a named person and also reported to police. Boyfriend beat him up so badly he was in intensive care. She also went through a medical exam. They looked at both her phone location and suspects phone location cctv etc. she wasn't even in the area of the alleged rape and nor was the suspect. She later claimed she lied becuase she was scared her boyfriend would be unhappy she didn't go out with him that night. She served prison time for pervert the course of justice.

Some women do lie. Yes most of us just can't understand why and why they'd got through all
these intrusive processes but some do.

The report sets out that "extensive examination of CCTV footage, house to house enquiries, interviewing witnesses and forensic tests"." And I'm sure they did. That sort of claim would be far too easy to disprove if it were untrue.

I know I (we) don’t have the right to that information, I was just saying that to form a form opinion either way , the result of such an investigation would be useful. We decided no attack took place … based on what? Just their word? Those days are long gone. I like facts.

Don't be silly. The point is, as I understand it, that if the account given by the woman was true, there would have been evidence on camera - not necessarily of the attack itself, but of the men in question approaching and leaving. For example, if cameras show a number of men going down a particular road, and then there's a long pause before they continue their journey, that would tend to support what the woman said. If cameras don't show men in the area, or shows them simply passing through without stopping, it would tend to suggest she was wrong.

Plus, of course, they don't claim to be relying on that alone. They have made forensic investigations and house to house inquiries, and have interviewed witnesses. If the evidence gleaned from that indicated that no rape had taken place, then again that will, absolutely validly, carry weight.

Illegal immigrants aren't "roaming free at taxpayers' expense". The clue's in the term "illegal immigrant". No illegal immigrant receives benefits, for the very simple reason that, if they were stupid enough to try to claim them, the moment they claimed their status would be known and they would be arrested and deported.

They're not "condemning her". The police are not saying she is lying. They are saying she was mistaken. Remember she agreed to them putting out this statement.

It is possible that a victim could retract when faced with the additional horror of the investigation/court case on top of a rape.
