No rape took place outside Epsom church, claim police

Either that or the police intimidated the victim into retracting her claims for the sake of quelling the riots.

'they now believe the woman concerned "sustained an accidental head injury" following a night out and made "a confused report".

Being gangraped is hardly the sort of thing a woman would get 'confused' about. This is absolutely outrageous.

A church built with stone. There is a sign in front of the building.

No rape took place outside Epsom church, say Surrey Police

The force says the woman concerned had injured her head on a night out and made 'a confused report'.

That’s a scary read. They are actually using “ooo she’s misremembered it…”. “Ooo actually this significant head injury was an accident and/or she did it to herself”

Like being gangraped is the sort of thing a woman is ever going to 'get wrong', give us a fucking break. Police in the UK are just glorified hall monitors.

I saw that and instantly thought “they’ve pressured her into a retraction”

Smells mighty off

The police think the British public are stupid but it's actually the police who are stupid.

Surrey Police. That fine upstanding force that - checks notes - accompanied a paedophile on trips to schools? That Surrey Police?

Surrey police also sided with my abuser after I showed them texts of him blackmailing and threatening me. Pitiful excuse of a police force.

Presumably they checked CCTV, etc rather than just pressure the alleged victim into staying quiet so they don’t have to bother investigating?

I'm inclined to believe the police here. It's not unheard of for women to fabricate stories like these. It's very rare, but not unheard of. The way those in the town used it to take to the streets makes me think it was set up in sort of way. The US had plenty of examples of white women falsely accusing men of colour of attacks to incite violence.

YourAmplePlumPoster · Yesterday 21:01

Why do you think the police are lying?

So you think that this woman purposefully gave her self a significant head injury, other injuries indicative of violent sexual assault, because she’s a nasty racist to get asylum seekers into trouble?

Goldfsh · Yesterday 21:06

I see no reason not to believe this.

There are generally rape crisis centres funded by police and crime commissioners and run by women that support these types of crime. If there was physical evidence, it would be found. It's unlikely that a gang rape happened and no evidence was left behind.

It's very reminiscent of the Banbury claims last year: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/oct/03/no-evidence-alleged-rape-banbury-oxfordshire-took-place-say-police

‘No evidence’ alleged rape of woman in Oxfordshire took place, say police

Police say investigation found no evidence reported attack on woman in her 30s in Banbury last weekend happened

Sadly, gangs rapes are far less rare than false rape accusations.

PP on another thread shared foi data that listed 7600 gang rapes between 2010-2018 just in the Metropolitan Police area.

This also included data on nationality of the perpetrators.

Trust in the police is at an all time low and they seem to be doing little to regain it. The government seem to be exacerbating the situation.

PoppinjayPolly · Yesterday 21:14

I’m having horrendous shades of the 2015 Cologne rapes… has anyone told this woman to check her privilege yet?

Shouldgivethisup · Yesterday 21:21

The statement from the cops includes the detail that there is NO forensic evidence at all of assault. They will have taken her clothes etc. very unlikely to have been attacked and have no saliva etc on her clothing. That’s been the delay I suspect, a full forensic analysis.

CornishDaughteroftheDawn · Yesterday 21:21

Just to clarify, I really really hope this didn’t happen. It just all sounds very odd and that is concerning.

The government are clear that ‘narrative management’ is a priority for them. There are so many issues with police priorities at the moment - it doesn’t feel like we are high on their list.

GoodkneeBadKnee · Yesterday 21:24

I'm glad the truth is our. Well done Surrey Police.

Yes.

Curtainsnitcher · Yesterday 21:25

Yes.

Well if true… she’s clearly must be very psychiatrically unwell for that level of self harm?

Bunnyofhope · Yesterday 21:26

I'm with the police. In an area such as this, there would be CCTV galore. They failed to show a rape or even consensual sex. It would be impossible for the police to outright lie about this, as the people who submitted it from their shop or ring door bells or dash cams would hav already seen it before submitting it and many of them would have had a copy made routinely. Surely you don't believe all these people are colluding?

Tillow4ever · Yesterday 21:26

I was just reading this on BBC news and came here to see if there was a thread about it - something just feels really, really off about it. I hope the woman is ok and receiving support. I hope the truth comes out and if the police have pressured her into retracting her claim, the officers invoiced should be sacked share with perverting the course of justice, plus anything else that can be thrown at them.

TonysGotANewMotor · Yesterday 21:27

So are they saying she was lying about being gang raped because no assault occurred - or because she consented to it? It's not entirely clear.
