Just pointing this out, separate from any threads it may have been mentioned on, so people not involved on those threads can be aware.

Does anyone know where/when it will be published?

We will never know what the changes are. As nobody has seen the first CoP.

We did see the original draft, though, because loads of us commented on it.

Kinsters · 14/04/2026 13:53

They can't go as far as allowing trans identifying men in female spaces but they can come up with wild suggestions for how these men can be accommodated, I assume with more examples of mixed sex facilities/provisions. She really doesn't get that no matter how many inclusive options there are for these men, if there is even one female space that is not available to them then all the spaces that are available count for nothing.

How ridiculous! It sounds like BP has basically said "yes this guidance is absolutely correct but how can we continue to centre trans people and soothe trans people's feelings???" 🤢🤢

Look you need to adjust your calculations 2 + 2 shouldn't be 4, it should be more.

You know, at least 4.5 or preferably 5 - got it?

MyAmpleSheep · 14/04/2026 13:54

I think it's important that the guidance is issued as soon as possible. If it's changed to make it easier for businesses to follow that's actually a good thing. What we want is businesses to follow the law, and not to have an excuse to moan about how the guidance is too difficult to understand.

As I said, if it doesn't match up to the clear requirements of the Act then it's open to Judicial Review. Nobody will let it slide.

Bridget 'centre the cock' Philipson

I'm really angry to see her dick pandering like this 🤬 She's basically unable to change the law so she wants the regulator to pander to the feelings of these men by making the guidance as sympathetic and 'inclusive' towards them as possible.

It's nice to know that women's safety and rights don't factor in her considerations at all. She's not bothered about making things more inclusive for us.

Bridget Phillipson orders single-sex spaces guidance to be ‘toned down’

The art of diplomacy, so it is said, is that of letting the other person have it all your own way.

If a dick pandering politician is the price to get lawful guidance issued and obeyed, so be it.

SingleSexSpacesInSchools · 14/04/2026 14:01

the guidance does not matter

what matters is the law

the law takes precedence

BUT so many orgs have been waiting for the guidance to drop - know we KNOW it will in May

So whatever the guidance says - and it cannot say men can go in the women's - does not matter

As there will be legal case after legal case - which will side eventually with no males in females spaces.

The delay has been killed. this is good news all round for everyone I am certain.

ItsCoolForCats · 14/04/2026 14:01

They need to change "the tone" 🙄. For fucksake. Meanwhile, businesses and orgs will continue in a muddle saying they don't know how to follow the law.

100% this. It's so galling after years without a shred of sympathy or understanding for women.

Bridget Phillipson orders single-sex spaces guidance to be ‘toned down’

The headline of the Times article is totally misleading. As this paragraph from the article shows.

She has been in talks with the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), under its new chair Mary-Ann Stephenson, and while the guidance itself will not change, the regulator has been asked to include more examples include more examples of how organisations can be inclusive within the law.

WiseWomanOfPutney · 14/04/2026 14:09

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I think the revision will simply be a bigger range of suggestions about how to provide some gender neutral alternatives, or how to signpost to alternative services nearby, for example. So that most providers can find at least one that works in their situation and enables them to feel certain that they are not discriminating against the PC of GR when they provide a single-sex service based on biology.

WiseWomanOfPutney · 14/04/2026 14:13

Way to go Labour, though. You've managed to upset both FWR and transgender reddit 🙄

It is very unclear what their aim was with this announcement.

Plot by Phillipson to ensure Labour do even worse than expected in local elections, so that Starmer gets the boot sooner and she can go for PM?
Makes as much sense as anything else they do.

Trans identifying men have to access womens spaces to get a GRC says some woman.

Rosie is far more polite than me.

There are some questions in the Lords about the lack of a meeting with FWS. From 14:46 onwards. Baroness Falkner is speaking too.
