It is not kind and respectful to people if communication is deliberately obscured because language meaning the opposite is being used.

Imagine someone’s surprise thinking that Cain was female and then discovering that he is a male person. Especially when it comes to then interpreting discussions about his semi nude images.

If someone was expecting to see the pubic mound of a female artfully posed it is a huge difference to seeing a penis exposed.

There is no comparison between someone wanting a nick name to be used and the wrong sex language being used. That is a flawed comparison, the logic doesn’t support it coherently in any way.

Thank you for explaining this. I had always thought that penis = male, I can’t believe how silly I feel now.

But do you actually feel like a seagull inside? This is what matters, not the part that is visible. Just be careful in case you try to fly though.

Unfortunately sharing the evidence is often the motivation for males showing their genitals i.e. flashing.

When they are males who "lean into feminity" (i.e. adopt female stereotypes, such as wearing dresses), supposedly this flashing behaviour is to be applauded.

As another example, the transwoman comedian Jordan Gray went a few steps further, demonstrating how to play the piano with a penis and singing about being better than women. Some of the lyrics from the song that Jordan sang during this live Channel 4 appearance were pretty grim e.g. "I'm a perfect woman. My tits will never shrink. And I'm guaranteed to squirt and do anal by default". There were plenty more examples of being "Better than you" (the name of the song).

You can actually see a couple of audience members wondering if this is something they want to see. Others are applauding just how stunning and brave Jordan is.

If a female started doing genital tricks (e.g. the ping pong ladies in Thailand) or posing with genitals on show, this would be classed and managed as porn. If a male who isn't in a dress starts doing it, likewise - or flashing if it's done deliberately to shock and without consent. But a male in a dress gets a free pass to do anything because apparently it's just art.

I think most of the trans movement is either about shock factor or confused autistic people who are very black and white about things and can’t see the nuances between the sexes. I prefer when they acknowledge they are in fact trans rather than being adamant they are the opposite gender to their sex.

Jordan claims to be a woman and a lesbian.... so is presumably pretty adamant about being the opposite "gender".

But yes, two different issues seem to describe the majority of people who identify as trans: shock (autogynophilic males) and autism (males and females, who may have sensory issues with their changes bodies and may conflate sex-based stereotypes with "being" a particular sex). Obviously there are other reasons too.

I think the two trans people I know are from the autistic side plus trauma in childhood. One is dd1’s friend who is female to male trans. Transitioned during covid after her mum died from falling down the stairs drunk. She was an alcoholic and the dad seems great but clearly very traumatic for the child who was 13. The other is my friend’s son (now daughter) who is autistic and was always awkward and uncomfortable but has felt much happier since changing gender (has no penis anymore). Neither of these people are trying to hurt others, just trying to feel comfortable in their own skin in a complex world. This is why I will always be respectful. If it were my own dc, then there would be conversations about science - and there have been some. Dd1 is gay and was very pro trans at one point due to friends and extreme views. We seem to have provided a balanced view that includes facts and the complexities. She’s seen Ethel Cain live and I’m not bringing this up with her as I don’t want an argument. I imagine she’ll be defensive but I might be wrong.

overall, I think the rhetoric to be anti trans is unhelpful but I do think clear boundaries are needed - avoid writing birthing people as much as possible (we always say women but sometimes birthing people are added on and I hate it).
