I live in Scotland and I care. So does my husband. We both know the difference between men and women and we will both be voting tactically to stop the greens and snp, mainly because of their gender ideology. We think voting to support the rights of biological women is the most important thing for this year's election. A significant number of our friends will be doing the same.

No one cares.

On the contrary, more and more people care and are fighting hard to ensure that the Supreme Court judgment is upheld and enacted.

NebulousSadTimes · 09/03/2026 19:11

The one thing that the book might do is to put a complete end to the St Nicola cult.

I hope that it would at least encourage those who are still 'standing with' her to consider that there might be another way of looking at her, without rose tinted glasses, to see that she doesn't deserve quite such utter devotion. But many of those people are likely to dismiss Joanna Cherry's book as not worth reading, because they don't want Sturgeon off the pedestal they still have her on.

PachacutisBadAuntie · 09/03/2026 19:13

Thanks @Hoardasurass I've pre-ordered, figure it will sit nicely with TWWWW. Might give copies to a couple of friends in Scotland as well...

Igmum · 09/03/2026 19:18

I care (and I’m only 61.2)

I care that somehow otherwise sane politicians got to a point where they could think for more than a fraction of a second that it was acceptable for vulnerable women to be raped while incarcerated or that a middle aged nurse should be forced to strip at work for the pleasure of a young male doctor. These are clearly insane, egregious acts yet the Scottish Government - seriously - the Scottish Government supported them.

I pray this will never happen again.

Differentforgirls · 09/03/2026 16:39

Well this is a prime example. No one cares. She appears to be a very sad lady who is always seeking Nicola’s attention while Nicola doesn’t give her a passing thought.

Let's see how many numbers the book does before we decide if anyone cares or not!

Think we need to agree to differ regarding your first sentence.

You're putting in a lot/minimal effort this evening.

ditalini · 09/03/2026 19:38

I care.
I'm voting.
I'm buying the book.
Lots of people I know are interested in what JC has to say.

EricTheHalfASleeve · 09/03/2026 19:48

@RealFeminist are you back from your campervan holibobs? Any comment on wee Jo's big book?

MouseQueen · 09/03/2026 19:53

Differentforgirls · 09/03/2026 16:53

But you’re not, so I repeat, no one cares.

I care. I'm voting.

You certainly do not speak for women. #LetWomenSpeak

MouseQueen · 09/03/2026 19:56

Differentforgirls · 09/03/2026 17:10

Yes. Here I am. Telling you no one even knows who she is.

How old are you? Back down. Many people have proven you wrong. It is so utterly embarassing for you to keep trying to slience women like this. For someone so mysogynist you have an completely unfitting username.

Waitwhat23 · 09/03/2026 19:58

I care. And will, of course, be ordering it. It will sit nicely on my bookcase alongside TWWW, UTDOD, Hags etc etc.

I'm Scottish and will probably vote for an Independent candidate, not that it's anyone's business. Would rather set my ballot paper on fire than vote SNP (or Greens)

Anyone who says that Joanna Cherry is unknown in Scotland clearly only speaks to Tom Harlow et al and/or is a liar, especially if they live in Edinburgh.

Was amused at the handwaving away of the number of Mumsnet posters when it's more than our entire population!

SwirlyGates · 09/03/2026 20:01

I care. I'm in Scotland and will be voting for a GC candidate. It's a line in the sand for me.

And of course I've heard of Joanna Cherry.

This 💯

I might buy the book. It could be an interesting read. I like Joanna Cherry.

No idea who I’m voting for. Had considered a more right leaning party but no way am I voting for a pro-Iran war party. Maybe this will be the time I spoil my ballot. Always say I’m going to do that and end up voting.

anyolddinosaur · 09/03/2026 20:13

I care. I may buy the book. I had no interest in Nicola's book but when I see it remaindered I might spend 50p on it for the laughs.

I have no doubt that extracts Of Joanna's book will appear in the press and on twitter and get a wider audience.

Full title of the book, btw, is "Keeping the Dream Alive: An Insider's Account of a Tumultuous Decade in Scottish Politics" Currently £16.39 to pre-order at Amazon.

Edited

I've been so depressed about the news recently that this has passed me by as I'm deliberately not watching the news at the minute; have parties in Scotland come out as pro-iran?????!!! Wtf?! Who? I'll definitely not vote for that

Hell no, I'll stick with Joanna's when it comes out. I'm looking forward to it 🙂

Well, Peter Murrell allegedly spent lots of money on Amazon out of that £560K that went missing from SNP funds. However, I think he'd been arrested for embezzlement before his wife's autobiography was published, so perhaps he bought the books out of his own funds.

Ah, good sleuthing there @pontefractals !

I was already suspicious since differentforgirls stated their age to be 62 and I don't know any woman who calls herself a "girl" after the age of 25, maybe that's just me, but the writing didn't seem to reflect that of a 62 year old either, since it has mostly consisted of saying "nobody cares", plus "saddos", "Ned" and more "no one cares".

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 09/03/2026 21:16

I care, I shall be buying it, I look forward to reading the truth of the mess that is the SNP.🍿

I'll be voting in May but not in Scotland in Wales, we've got our own sorry show to put up with.

Pro-Iran war not pro-Iran. Not sure if you just missed that word out or you misunderstood me. Maybe I could have been clearer. I was meaning I’m against voting for a party that supports the UK’s involvement in the Iran war.

To be fair none of the Scottish parties have come out as much as the Westminster parties and it would be good to get clarity. I know defence is more of a UK issue than Scottish issue. Maybe it won’t matter as much at the elections to me but I find it madness that any party would think it’s a good idea.

From Reform Scotland, the leader on bbc debate night said we should support America and said we’d get drawn into the war whether we liked it or not. Definitely disagree with that position. The Scottish Conservative leader seems supportive of Kemi’s position from what I’ve seen but again clarity would be good.

KittyWilkinson · 09/03/2026 21:29

Case cracked! Well done Detective @pontefractals
I note this bit from a review back in the day:
... the evolution of the couple from misfits to a postmodern Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr "may strain credulity". Overall, he concluded that "although the lovers are identified as heterosexual, it's two men up there on the screen kissing, having sex, and falling in love."

I'll buy Joanna's book instead. 😁
