Hey, I'm pushing 66. I'm delighted to be called "young". At least I'm only "politically ignorant", though I do at least have some understanding of tactical voting.
During the Fife by-election, Reform tried to encourage tactical voting in order to keep out the SNP. They came a fairly poor second - most people couldn't stomach the thought of voting for that shower.
The one thing in their favour was that their candidate - Roman Valente - was a well-known local man. Speaking as someone who is half-furriner myself, I suspect that Reform thought that Valente's Italian heritage might protect them against charges of racism.
His candidacy pretty much descended into farce when he had to tell the Courier that he'd only been joking when he put Cambridge Uni down as his alma mater on his FB bio.
The Tories pushed the tactical voting line in the previous Scottish Parliament election and I do know some older folk who fell for it and switched from Labour. Reform seems to have stolen the Tories' shtick: the Tory vote was embarrassingly low in the by-election.
