On Saturday 11th April, at 1pm there will be One Year Later protests in six different locations:

London - Parliament Square
Edinburgh - Scottish Parliament
Cardiff - Central Square
Manchester - St Peter's Square
Plymouth - Hoe Park, Smeaton's Tower
Houghton Le Spring - Brigete Philipson's Office, Newbottle Street

The protests follow on from the 199 Days Later protests in November 2025 and the different locations will be a mix of speeches, protests and street terfing (London is a march and speeches). It's been almost a year since the Supreme Court Ruling, if you can, please attend a protest and let the government know that their inaction is unacceptable, unlawful and puts women and girls at risk.

Further info will be available on X @acts_grassroots

The bad and the ugly:

How does anyone think this is ok? 2026 and someone still turning up with a sign like this.

Women: we want our single sex spaces back and kids to be safeguarded properly.

Trans Rights Activists: we’d like to see you dead, we want to work in a bra shop, you’re all so unstylish, noise noise noise. What the actual fuck?

I wish I could have been there but I’m so glad it all went well. Thanks everyone for standing up.

Via nitter, Lily Maynard is reporting batshit chant number lots and lots:

"Trans people deserve to work in a bra shop in Marks and Spencer"

I have no comment, Lily comments it seems oddly specific 😳

Well, if nothing else it makes a change from “Whose streets? Our streets!” Which they were hollering when I walked past and which never makes sense because no one is ever saying they can’t use the streets Hmm

spannasaurus · 12/04/2026 14:27

I'd love for Hagrid/Demi to get a prime time TV slot to explain his position. They could show loads of clips of him protesting so that every one could see his troubles as a vulnerable and marginalised transwoman

Whatthechicken · 08/03/2026 13:33

The police were fab. We did have to hurry clearing up, because the police had told us they were having to release the trans activists. We have the same wonderful woman doing police liaison for April, so I expect they will be on form again. Unfortunately, Cardiff Police did not fair so well last time, they even showed up in a Pride painted van. Since Nov 1st, the determined women of Wales have had a meeting with the police, so they've got no excuse this time.

"Release the transactivists" like "Release the hounds" or "Release the Kraken" ?
The police putting it this way really paints a picture, doesn't it?

Of the plod holding back a pack of slavering beasts desperate to get at the nasty TERFS.
"Best get out of here ladies, we have to let them out soon"

Is "see his troubles" a euphemism?
🤔

That. ^^

We want to kill women! We are no threat to women's rights!

Batshit. But lets be honest, it's the noise and the vibes and not much else going on beyond that, it's all 'identity'. I've often thought you could dress appropriately, slide in amongst the gang and get them all chanting the wheels on the bus without much difficulty. Especially if you made it sound angry.

There’s a protest in Belfast at 1pm.

Yes and it was thoroughly heartening to be there.

At 5ft 11 and a size 14-16 I have a lot of understanding that it can be difficult to dress well at that size but I really don't think he's in a position to judge other people's stylishness.

I’m so glad you won the blanket, I really enjoyed making it! It was a great day in Manchester.
the TRA were few in number and really rather lacklustre!
Sorry I couldn’t go to the after party, hope you have lots of joy from your blanket!

@GloomyWednesday won the blanket. Manchester would be quite the trip for me :) I'm glad you all had a great time.

That was my first thought! It's quite a clingy fabric, we can all see his 'troubles'.

FireHorse2026 · 13/04/2026 07:20

Will there be any YouTube coverage of this protest does anyone know? Like a Wesley Winter style "let them talk" video? It seems like TRAs were roundly outnumbered which is great news for women's rights.

Mr Menno was filming the London protest so I expect it’s on his YouTube channel.

Nothing up yet but he was filming. There are clips from the audience - this one shows some of the singing which was much more fun than the droning male TRA voice on loudhailer from across the road…

That looks great fun! And noticeably not a covered face in sight.

EmpressaurusKitty · 13/04/2026 09:48

It was great fun but the absolute best bits were Julia Long’s songs.

She knew all the words to all the songs didn’t she?! 🤣 Excellent compere skills too!

It was very noticeable tgat no one in our crowd had masks while 40-50% of the TRAs had covered faces.

At the end a masked male youth came around the crowd on our side filming people. It was quite unnerving

The bad and the ugly:

And then TRAs say women's rights campaigners want them dead. I've not heard one of them even suggest that, let alone make a direct statement to that end, ever.

The cognitive dissonance is strong in this lobby.

They are so divorced from reality that they genuinely believe that us saying "transwomen are not women" is akin to wishing death and violence on them.

the bigger events were live streamed on X. Edge of the Matrix live streamed Manchester on you tube. People are clipping individual speeches and sharing. We are just working out the best way to organise and present all of the speeches and on what platform. But this does take a bit of editing.

Sigh. Will have to dig out my own crayoned on bit of a cardboard box that reminds 'force nothing into a woman's mouth that you would like to take home and play with later'.

But they know so little about women; possibly they haven't clicked that we have teeth.

Igmum · 13/04/2026 18:53

Thank you to @Whatthechicken and all of the organisers. I was at the Manchester one. Gutted I couldn’t stay to socialise (had work) but so pleased I went. Great speeches - particularly the woman campaigning to get men out of women’s prisons, Emma Hilton and an absolute belter from Claire Fox at the end. Fred Wallace was there looking weird AF with a 1970s clear plastic headscarf over a top knot ???? He did circuits round us like some sort of peculiar shark. Steve - Edge of the Matrix was there which was great. I tried to compensate for not really knowing people there by singing really loudly. (I also said thank you to the nice Police officers.)

To anyone inexperienced at these things like me I would say go, people are really nice, we all hung together and maybe next time I’ll be able to go to the pub and make friends (or maybe BP will be enforcing the judgement and we will have nothing left to campaign for).

moto748e · 13/04/2026 19:42

If you'd told me years ago that I'd be loudly applauding a speech by Claire Fox... 😁
