On Saturday 11th April, at 1pm there will be One Year Later protests in six different locations:

London - Parliament Square
Edinburgh - Scottish Parliament
Cardiff - Central Square
Manchester - St Peter's Square
Plymouth - Hoe Park, Smeaton's Tower
Houghton Le Spring - Brigete Philipson's Office, Newbottle Street

The protests follow on from the 199 Days Later protests in November 2025 and the different locations will be a mix of speeches, protests and street terfing (London is a march and speeches). It's been almost a year since the Supreme Court Ruling, if you can, please attend a protest and let the government know that their inaction is unacceptable, unlawful and puts women and girls at risk.

Further info will be available on X @acts_grassroots

I think many of us thanked the police as we left.

I certainly did, and so were quite a few women around me. They all smiled and said we were welcome, have a good evening etc. A far cry from having to babysit the Mantrum Brigade who were calling them fascists Hmm

BettyBooper · 11/04/2026 20:41

Great work to all you wims! Thank you 🥰

A grand day out. The little group at the top of the steps by the Millicent Fawcett statue were ridiculous. The optics are stark. A gathering of women of all ages calmly standing around, chatting and waiting to move off having a lot of hyperbolic nonsense being shouted at them through a loud hailer by young men and their female support humans.
Cannot fault the London policing. They were chatty and amenable. I did wonder if they had to draw lots to see who gets what side to manage.

FranticFrankie · 11/04/2026 20:46

The TRA holding the placard with 'hangman'!!!!!
Can you imagine if women carried a similar one? I know it wouldn't happen, but the audacity of carrying that placard. She should be ashamed of herself. Yet there's toxicity on both sides? Yeah right

Well done all. Love that dinosaur 🦖

"No, not the effin' TRA lot AGAIN Sarge, I drew that short straw last time! Can't I swap and go on the women's side? They're polite and their singin' is much better. And all that bloody drummin' and hollerin' gives me a right bloody headache..."

(Said in the manner of Corporal Nobbs from the City Watch)

By the Millicent Fawcett statue I saw a copper with his finger in his ear. It must have been very difficult to stand in the blare of the loudhailer

I was particularly struck by the contrast in noise from the two sides.

One side of the road a bunch of women (and a few men) listening to experts talking sensibly about women's rights and the erosion of those rights, the other side reminded me of a fairly typical beer'd up football crowd. Just like a typical football crowd, the TRA chants appeared to be lead by a pasty, topless fella with moobs.

Surely, if you had any vestige of sanity in that TRA crowd, you must have wondered what the hell you were supporting if the figurehead (poster boy?) is a topless guy with hormone induced moobs screaming about JKR.

I do hope that some of the TRAs opposite checked out the contrast between the two sides and asked themselves if they were in fact on the right side of history

For me the highlight of the day was hearing the words of Maya Forstater and others echoing off the building behind the TRAs. The noise from the TRA side was audible but the voices of sanity could clearly be heard above it - a metaphor for where the debate currently stands. A great day

No nasty incidents? Fantastic- pics look great.

Don’t think so.

I think we were clearly having much more fun than they were at the end & that must have been pretty annoying in itself.

It was a striking difference.
I made a point of not looking or paying them attention but the voices were all male. And the things they shouted so male patterned. The idea they are women is just ludicrous - no woman could or would do what they have!

They must had all had splitting headaches with the hours of drums, whistles, sirens and shouting

EmpressaurusKitty · 11/04/2026 22:04

I helped to organise an event in Parliament Square once. The rules around noise levels were really, really tight, to the extent of having to provide exact details of amplification equipment & having a maximum amount of time that we were allowed to sing for.

No way were the TRAs sticking to rules. Yes, it was great that they were kettled & their noise didn’t spoil our day, but still.

How to convince women that it is safe to have delusional males in their private spaces, I know, images of executing them, that should be reassuring, erm....
Nope, still not convinced.

It was also noticeable - as ever - that the women are generally minding our own business, talking amongst ourselves, politely listening to our speakers and occasionally singing. We largely ignored the TRAs.

The TRAs were just there to shout at us.

I'm so glad to hear that the day went well - in London anyway, hope to hear more good reports and maybe more photos from the other demos!

Christ alive, I had to get up at the arse crack of dawn to get to Westminster for 1 as it was. I simply didn’t have TIME to be murdering/genociding anyone.

I didn’t have to leave home until 10.30 but before that I was rushing around doing housework & changing my cat’s litter tray. I didn’t have time for genociding either.

Mmmnotsure · 11/04/2026 22:50

Tbh I'm not sure you're womanning right. Where's the multi-tasking and juggling? You could have done a little genociding while putting the cat out.

It would have to have been remote genociding. Do you think singing ‘If a person has a penis he’s a man’ while hoovering would have worked?

Have you TRIED juggling a cat? No one’s going to get any genociding done if we’re trying to stem the bleeding from our shredded arms.

I’ll see if I can fit any murdering in tomorrow but I’ve got a yoga class, you know <huffs>

You might not even have to sing it, thinking it may be enough
