On Saturday 11th April, at 1pm there will be One Year Later protests in six different locations:

London - Parliament Square
Edinburgh - Scottish Parliament
Cardiff - Central Square
Manchester - St Peter's Square
Plymouth - Hoe Park, Smeaton's Tower
Houghton Le Spring - Brigete Philipson's Office, Newbottle Street

The protests follow on from the 199 Days Later protests in November 2025 and the different locations will be a mix of speeches, protests and street terfing (London is a march and speeches). It's been almost a year since the Supreme Court Ruling, if you can, please attend a protest and let the government know that their inaction is unacceptable, unlawful and puts women and girls at risk.

Further info will be available on X @acts_grassroots

Thank you @Whatthechicken . We had a great day with Terfy friends old and new. It is so inspiring to meet some of the 21st Century's feminist heroes irl.

Thank you, But I'm just one of about 8-10 regular organisers though - and then there are regional organising groups such as Women Won't Wheesht. it just so happens that I've posted here. I've been in a few groups (and still am), but 199 is a bit special to me - I put it down to us being solely focussed on women's rights, we get on with it, we have no hierarchy (although naturally some women will keep us on track), and we all just need to do something practical without needing individual recognition.

Personal opinion here: I'm pretty confident that even if a party does get into power that says they give a shit about women, it will soon become an issue that they will 'deal with later'.

I still think we have a long fight ahead. The Kings speech at the State opening of Parliament on 13th May will be interesting, I'm expecting (given the leaked job description that was posted on X), that full conversion therapy ban (incl trans) will be in there and Phillipson will certainly not lay the guidance before then. Personally, I don't think the guidance will ever be put before Parliament by the current Labour Gov, but I'm a bit cynical.

In that case we should all be writing to the King. What was done in his name at the Kings Trust about the women’s boxing was already shameful. He’d be absolutely flamed if he gets embroiled in this hard left nonsense

Although we had the magnificent win by For Women Scotland last year, I find it deeply troubling that the only way I can personally challenge the government for behaving unlawfully - such as putting men in women's prisons; or challenge my local council for allowing men to get undressed next to my 10 year old daughter at the local pool, is to take them on legally. I do not have the funds to do that. I'm dedicated - but I can't put my house at risk. Although I'd probably win given the SC clarification...I can't initially lay that sort of money out, and crowd-funding isn't guaranteed.

I briefly looked into 'misconduct in public office', because surely there is no better example of this than men being placed with women in prison, but estimates of funding initially required was £70K. This means that justice and democracy isn't available to most women, it means that in most cases the gov can act unlawfully without challenge. It's just not right. Why should we have to take the gov to court to get them to obey the law? When the government can ignore the laws that they created and then subsequently the highest court in the land, everything is still very much at risk.

Sigh. Will have to dig out my own crayoned on bit of a cardboard box that reminds 'force nothing into a woman's mouth that you would like to take home and play with later'.

But they know so little about women; possibly they haven't clicked that we have teeth.

Edited

That's a woman on T carrying that bit of cardboard with the disgusting message on it. She is referring to effect of taking T on the growth of her clitoris. Normally a very painful process, if that is any consolation.

I’m gutted I have only just seen this! I’d have loved to have attended the Manchester event. I will definitely try and get there if there is another.

BlueLegume · 14/04/2026 06:46

@Whatthechicken fantastic events. Couldn’t attend in person but watched with such admiration.

I note this morning that Peter Tatchell posted on X the following over the last week……

People cannot change their chromosomal sex
But they can change their gender identity & that is totally valid
Chromosomal sex matters: Some trans men may be at risk of breast/ cervical cancer & some trans women may be at risk of prostate cancer
We need better trans health care.

Call me cynical but this seems a deliberate attempt to acknowledge the obvious we have all been discussing and affirming that they need healthcare - which no one has ever denied them. Maybe I am so tired of all this nonsense I am being deliberately cynical?

So trans healthcare is the right they are looking for?
If so this will be costly as a woman who has had a double mastectomy will need to access female healthcare but is expected to be addressed as a man. I say costly as it means HCPs will be expected to address the person as a man whilst carrying out smear tests and mammograms because the person is biologically female.

It is a riddle that we are all seemingly expected to go along with.

Equally a man presents as female but requires a prostate examination.

We seem to be engineering a society that is simply made up.

Thank you to @Whatthechicken and all of the organisers. I was at the Manchester one. Gutted I couldn’t stay to socialise (had work) but so pleased I went. Great speeches - particularly the woman campaigning to get men out of women’s prisons, Emma Hilton and an absolute belter from Claire Fox at the end. Fred Wallace was there looking weird AF with a 1970s clear plastic headscarf over a top knot ???? He did circuits round us like some sort of peculiar shark. Steve - Edge of the Matrix was there which was great. I tried to compensate for not really knowing people there by singing really loudly. (I also said thank you to the nice Police officers.)

To anyone inexperienced at these things like me I would say go, people are really nice, we all hung together and maybe next time I’ll be able to go to the pub and make friends (or maybe BP will be enforcing the judgement and we will have nothing left to campaign for).

Fred looked like the bastard child of Giant Haystacks and Hilda Ogden wandering round with his shit tattoos and leopard print, didn’t he? 😂

TWETMIRF · 14/04/2026 10:03

Haystacks was my favourite wrestler. He had long hair, do you think he felt unsafe in the gents?

If you are too stupid and/or deluded to not acknowledge your own sex, and hence do not receive the medical care you should, I'm afraid I've got no sympathy for you if things go tits up.

This reminds me of the 'do you want us in the loos with your husbands?' posts after the Supreme Court clarification.

I wonder how many (ETA - straight) men found the lovely Haystacks irresistible due to his flowing lady locks?
