Baroness Falkner who headed EHRC has tweeted she feels vindicated.

She’s brilliant. ❤️

From Reddit, I think a user was decrying how unfair it is that cis folk are protected from sharing toilets with people of the opposite chromosomes, but a third space toilet would mean trans folk are forced to share toilets with people of the opposite chromosomes.

When the penny drops but it keeps on dropping...

I think this comes under the judge's comments about logic that goes beyond all normal and rational limits.

that guy actually knows his stuff and keeps getting voted down I'd love him to come comment here TBH....

Yes, impressed by Dollz here and in other debates. Clear, accurate, largely empathetic - and rather brave to go against the grain with simple but uncomfortable truths. It does throw a rather damning light on the majority of posters with whom they engage, though.

I honestly can’t get why GLP are celebrating. They’ve got nothing new.

Their familiarity with the truth is rather suspect.

They are like movie promotional posters that quote a Times review of "it is incredible that anyone would write such bilge, never mind film it,' as "INCREDIBLE - The Times"

Surely (and I may be getting this wrong) the idea is that nobody should be made to share toilets with the opposite chromosomes (or sex, the opposite biological sex) which means, in the interest of fairness which that reddit user appears to be focused in, people use toilets assigned according to, I don't know, biological sex?

Has reddit circled around to agree that biological sex is actually important?

Shall not hold my breath. But the reactions from GLP and trans reddit are WILD.

Exactly. They would have the choice: either the toilets of their sex or mixed sex ones. Not special “trans woman” “trans man” and “genderqueer” ones.

Not in some peoples minds.

Below the school is saying some TIM may be allowed into the girls areas not that the school had decided that as a policy any TIM who wants to may use the girls areas

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5488835-to-ask-for-parents-in-brighton-who-would-object-to-males-being-in-their-daughter-changing-room-without-even-their-knowledge-to-come-forward-and-help-with-this-legal-case

The guidance (when the final one is finally eventually passed by parliament) will have to be in Peter and Jane type single syllable short sentences, with pictures, and probably interpretive dance, to avoid it being grabbed, misunderstood and twisted in all possible directions.

Ha, that wouldn't be me. Not a Redditor nor never will be (don't worry about unravelling the double negatives; just used for tautologically emphatic emphasis! 😃).

I thought all trans folx were one big happy family. What happened to solidarity within the trans community?

Why on earth would they object to sharing toilets with people of the opposite chromosomes? Chromosomes don't matter anyway, it's feelz that are paramount.

Lilyfreedom · 13/02/2026 12:13

I do have my doubts about PTD. He seems far too level headed and sensible to truly espouse the beliefs he purports to.

I would personally love him to come and debate here - maybe we would actually get an honest, intellectual debate for a change?

Plus a recommndation that OT provide an inspection diagram and/or GP referals

" Case by case" refers to the initial decision to provide a facility, not later on in deciding who gets to use it.

Edited

That is such an important point yet is so often misunderstood or misrepresented. Do you have a source for it?

I'm sure I recall JM crowing so much about his 'win' of a previous case that the judge actually had to publicly say ' no, Mr Maugham - you lost'. Anyone else remember that?

INAL but, as I understand it, JM is still registered as a barrister even if not practising. You generally have to be removed from professional registers, you can't remove yourself. Please correct me if that's not so. My point is if he is still a barrister then surely his (wilful?) misinterpretations of several judgments now could be considered bringing the profession into disrepute?

Ah, Peter and Jane. 😍

Here is a toilet. It is a male toilet. It is Peter's toilet.

Here is another toilet. It is a female toilet. It is Jane's toilet.

Peter goes into his toilet.

Jane goes into her toilet.

Peter does not go into Jane's toilet.

Jane does not go into Peter's toilet.

Peter is happy. Jane is happy.

Here is another toilet. It is very small. It has its own basin. It has its own taps. It has its own door. The door locks. It is a good toilet.

This toilet is for everyone.

Here is Jolyon.

He is unhappy.

I think that was in the original SC judgment.....I'll try and see if i can locate it. I recall feeling relieved when I read and understood that.

ItsCoolForCats · 13/02/2026 12:16

The GLP have done us a massive favour. Thanks Jolyon ☺️ They have helped to clarify the law (that was already clarified 🙃) and now they will have to pay the EHRC's costs. Oh dear. Great use of all those donations.

ItsCoolForCats · 13/02/2026 12:18

Baroness Faulkner on X:

"The Court held that the Interim Update contained an “accurate statement of the law without misstatement or material omission” and complied within the EHRC’s statutory duties, and that the legislation on which it was based, properly interpreted, was compatible with human rights".

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 13/02/2026 12:19

Meanwhile over on Bluesky?!?!? This is ons of the GLP’s lawyers I believe. How can they have misread the judgement so badly?!

Oh absolutely, it has buried the decisions in Croft, Kelly and Peggie in one go. Thanks Jolyon.

I am pleased for Baroness Faulkner.

I'm so delighted.

Thank you to Baroness Faulkner too!
