Olivia Colman: “I’ve always described myself to my husband as a gay man.” 🙄

Olivia Colman is currently on the press tour for her new film Jimpa and has come out with some absolute corkers in an interview with them "magazine" including:

"Throughout my whole life, I’ve had arguments with people where I've always felt sort of nonbinary. Don’t make that a big sort of title! But I’ve never felt massively feminine in my being female. I’ve always described myself to my husband as a gay man. And he goes, “Yeah, I get that.”"

Which I can only assume means he likes it when she pegs him.

And a dig at some undefined group of naysayers and haters and meanies:

"Most of the actors were from, particularly in the Dutch side of things, from the queer community there; I’ve never been part of a more welcoming group of people. For all those naysayers or haters or meanies, if [only] they could spend the time with the most welcoming, kind bunch of people. I kind of want everyone to just come and say hi and actually feel total love."

Jimpa stars Olivia Colman as Hannah, mother to the non-binary Frances (played by they/them, non-binary, queer, transgender daughter of the film's director, Aud Mason-Hyde) who go to Amsterdam to visit Hannah's gay HIV positive father (John Lithgow, currently simultaneously scorned by the queers for daring to be in the new Harry Potter series, any by the meanies for talking shit about JKR). I'm sure it will be a hoot.

Congratulations Olivia on your brave coming out as a queer, non-binary, gay man, spicy-straight woman. You're so late to the party all the cool kids will find your identity embarrassing now.

Which would be fair enough, if she wasn't throwing ordinary women under the bus in the process.

She’s fairly wealthy right now, but whether that wealth would last the rest of her life if she got cancelled… the arts right now are very, very Stalinist and everyone knows that you can stop getting work offers in a second. And that work offers can be withdrawn if pressure is put on.

Plus she is under contract to say positive things during the release period.

I don’t know what she actually thinks. Just that the interview reads to me like a standard publicity interview where she said the positive things she was being paid to say.

Ikwym but that makes me respect her less, not more.

What you seem to be saying is 'she doesn't really necessarily think those things but she has to say then or she may not be able to maintain her privileged lifestyle'

Well boo hoo.

Im sure she could have made positive noises about the 'lovely' trans people she'd met on set without claiming to be 'a gay man' and 'a bit non binary'.

If she does believe what she's said, she's an idiot. If she doesn't, she's got no integrity whatsoever.

Anactor · 10/02/2026 13:27

“If she does believe what she's said, she's an idiot. If she doesn't, she's got no integrity whatsoever.”

You’ve missed out on the third option. She’s an actor. She is paid to say things she doesn’t necessarily believe. It’s literally part of the job description.

Oh, and the fourth option - which is that she’s gone for the ‘they’re all lovely lovely people who just know they’re women … and I know I’m a gay man.’ With complete sincerity. Because, after all, being able to fake complete sincerity is the mark of a very good actor.

And now we’ve got an awful lot of people saying how bloody ridiculous this is.

It’s not misogynistic to think Olivia Colman is an idiot. I think lots of people are idiots, many of them are men.

Particularly not if she is a gay man, in any event.

I'm trying to find it but I can’t - I'll keep trying!

Is the company Tender?

https://tender.org.uk/about/our-people/our-patrons-ambassadors/olivia-colman-ed-sinclair/

Seems to be one of those groups that go into schools and sneak gender ideology in by the backdoor.

They talk about 'gender based violence' and have she/her he/him as their opening gambit. Lots of waffly words but I'd like to see the nitty gritty of the resources they use....

Olivia Colman & Ed Sinclair - Tender

We’re privileged to have Academy Award-winning actress Olivia Colman and her husband Ed Sinclair as our patrons.

Thanks Betty - that’s it and I'm positive there was a thread about it but after exhaustive searches I've come up with zilch. Weird.

Ah, I didn't think it was that one, despite all the she/her BS.

I couldn't find anything either 🤨.

I really think there needs to be more scrutiny of these groups

I find that pretty insulting. Who are you calling an insufferable prat ?
I was extremely close to my great grandmother ( born 1889 ) who wasn’t quite sure but reckoned HER Mum might have been born in Cork . I myself have been to Dublin ( twice ) . Love Guinness . Am deffo Celtic .

I can't see why you find it insulting. I wasn't talking about you. Anyway, having been to Dublin twice and and loving Guinness doesn't make you Irish. How do you know that you're definitely Celtic? What are the signs?

The cognitive dissonance

It’s really important to tell everybody’s story and to do it from an empathetic point of view,” Colman has claimed in a new interview. “But then someone who is anti-trans and against trans rights is someone who… I don’t know how you explain to them what understanding and kindness is and love.”

Perhaps Colperson might try applying empathy to to someone who thinks differently to her. Ffs, I thought that was part of being an actor. She should try stepping outside her own bigotry for a moment and consider that not agreeing that twaw =/= anti-trans. To accuse people of lacking kindness and love. People she, ironically, has smugly made no effort to understand. Blinding herself with the shine of her tatty halo.

Olivia Colman joins the non-binary celebrity club

Transmitting straight from luvvie land, the actress Olivia Colman has taken it upon herself to hold forth on trans rights. It’s a necessary intervention, given that no one else in Hollywood ever talks about the subject. “It’s really important to tell e...

Did you try Google? With 'mumsnet' as a search term. Works better than MNs search function.

Come on Lovie step out from NAMALT

Lets both stand at the bottom of Rapist Gender Hill.

Lovie can explain the whole of "what understanding and kindness is and love.” is when the State are saying women can be forced to provide companionship to a male rapist or where women are obliged to search him as part of their job just because he wants it.

Or why the State is paying a male who would expect medical staff to ignore Lovies direct stated request to have a female medic and bring him in to treat her.

I'm a bit surprised as to how many women seem to be completely unaware that there's a lot more to gay men than being effeminate and being attracted to men.

Gay men are completely different from women. I very much doubt that heterosexual women would feel at home among extreme sexual activity in a sauna.

thirdfiddle · 11/02/2026 19:57

Knowing this lot they'd probably get in then complain that the gay men were not being trans inclusive enough by behaving in ways that made them feel uncomfortable.

Tbf the majority of transmen are far less likely to intrude on men's spaces than TW on women's. Maybe it's the female socialisation. Or maybe it's self-preservation, it's themselves they'd be putting at risk in men's spaces.

On Twitter there were a large group of gay TWAW so TMAM men untill they came out with the not M for dating and got labled as transphobic.

They got educated by TRA and it was funny to watch them try to defend penis in womens spaces = fine & vulva in Their spaces = homophobia

BlueEyedBogWitch · 11/02/2026 22:24

I wish the interviewer had pressed her a bit on what she said. I would have asked her exactly what it was about her that she thought was the same as a gay man? I’d have pressed for specifics and let her dig herself a hole with her own bare tongue.

It’s all just so flippant and reductive and insulting.

HRTQueen · 12/02/2026 10:58

what is it with a group of our population that are middle class, white and have lead charmed lives that have success that have life long privilege need to inform the world that they have struggled to because they too are different

its so tedious
