Latest Girlguiding email this evening

I have just received a new email from Girlguiding. They are planning on setting up a task force - 'Today, we're launching a taskforce to explore new opportunities for trans girls, trans young women and trans women. You can help us by sharing your ideas and/or expressing an interest in contributing to our taskforce. '
I'm thinking that it's really important that sex realists are included on this task force as I think that there will be pressure from the Trans handmaidens to change Girlguiding to a mixed sex organisation. Is there anyone else who has received this email and would be keen to collaborate?

I'm not involved in any way, shape or form, but the whole idea and premise seems beyond the remind of Girl Guides. Volunteers shouldn't be giving up time and resources to help boys.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 11/12/2025 20:31

Are you yourself keen to collaborate and assist the trans lobby @clementina25?

clementina25 · 11/12/2025 20:34

No I'm wanting to be a voice for the sex realists

Hard agree. Girl guides want to help transwomen (l.e grown men) and i have no idea why.
How about helping teenage mothers, women with disabilities, women in poverty or chronically sick, or any other group of actual women instead of the demographic of ‘women’ which mainly consists of MC white men.

Arrgh, remit not remind. We have an edit button and I still post errors!

Helping boys, however they identify, is outwith the charitable purpose of Girl Guides and can (and probably will) get them in trouble with the Charity Commission.

An email to that effect might help?

Meaning you disapprove of the stance taken by a small number of people within Guiding, who are pushing this anti-woman narrative?

BundleBoogie · 11/12/2025 20:41

Which part of their charitable objects do they not understand?

That's a good idea.

Spending their charitable funds to help boys would - may be helpful to have someone in the meeting to point that out. Volunteers can of course spend their time discussing whatever they'd like to discuss. & Guides will support various other causes with their own separate efforts e.g. they might hold an event to support their local food bank or whatever.

I support them in making some efforts to redirect current male members with kindness. It's the right thing to do. Given some boys have been told they can be in guides, and are now having to be told they can't, it could be appropriate for example to compile lists of other local groups that are mixed sex (i.e. pretty much everything else) to direct them to.

The law's the law, they clearly now recognise that if they want to be a single sex organisation they have to be single sex. I hope they're not going to change that policy. There is plenty of evidence that girls benefit from some spaces away from boys.

Why not trans men and trans boy if they want to be girl guides? I know, I’m asking a stupid question…

MyAmpleSheep · 11/12/2025 21:21

This is the advice from the Charity Commission:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/charity-purposes-and-rules#focus-on-your-charitys-purposes

Drifting into activities that your charity is not set up to do
This can happen if you do not focus on your charity’s purposes. For example, where the charity:

  • wants to deliver a new service, but trustees have not checked that this new work fits the charity’s purposes
  • has applied for a grant, which must be spent on activities that do not match the charity’s purposes

Using charity funds or resources on other purposes is very serious. Trustees may have to repay the charity from their own money.
Keep your charity’s purposes under review to ensure that they properly reflect what the charity does.

This is the charitable purpose of the Girl Guides:

TO PROMOTE THE EDUCATION OF GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN TO HELP THEM DEVELOP EMOTIONALLY, MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY AND SPIRITUALLY SO THAT THEY CAN MAKE A POSITIVE CONTRIBUTION TO THEIR COMMUNITY AND THE WIDER WORLD.

https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/en/charity-search/-/charity-details/306016?ukgovccewoneregcharitydetailswebportletCharityDetailsPortletorganisationNumber=306016

Draw attention to these facts, perhaps? Especially this bit: "Trustees may have to repay the charity from their own money".

WallaceinAnderland · 11/12/2025 21:38

I think it's likely that they want to explore the possibility of someone setting up a trans group. But this may well be a bit like the mixed sex swimming category. No one joined. Because the whole point is that they don't want their own group, they want the group that the girls and young women have already set up for themselves.

I am so sad to witness Girlguiding be destroyed by what is at its core men's rights activism.

Yes, it’s gutting that these people are paid to run a charity for girls, yet wish to centre boys at all times. They should all be ashamed of themselves.

LostMySocks · 11/12/2025 21:59

I've said on another thread that I've filled in the questionnaire pointing out that helping boys, however vulnerable is not in line with our charitable aims and that they shouldn't be using grants for girls or our census money

SabrinaThwaite · 11/12/2025 22:11

Girl Guiding’s charitable object is to help girls and young women, which the SC has helpfully clarified are people that are biologically female.

It’s not the remit of the Girl Guides to include boys, no matter how sad they are at being male.

Signpost them to the Scouts, which is openly mixed sex.

Sandyoldshoes · 11/12/2025 22:31

The stuff on their advice page completely fails to acknowledge that some people might be glad about the ruling. It’s just full of ‘this feels very sad’. There’s even a section on how to discuss it with rainbows - they are under 7!! They don’t need to know this stuff!!! Especially delivered by untrained people. They should be following the same rules as schools IMO. It would be interesting to know how many trans identifying boys there actually in guiding.

Edited

It is time the Board of Trustees bring the management of the organisation to order.

The approach is a clear breach of the trust deed. Boys are outwith of the class of beneficiaries as the Supreme Court has clarified.

If I was a trustee I would be very worried about these actions taking place on my watch and asking for some specific legal advice about a potential breach of trust and the consequences for each trustee.

I am actually just mostly horrified that those working for a charity do not understand the fundamental basics of trust law and the strictures under which a charity acts.

Jollyjoy · 11/12/2025 23:28

This is interesting, I got the original email as I have a DD involved. Wrote an email thanking them for taking action and reminding them of why this was a good thing for girls. Got a polite reply thanking me for my perspective’ and a generic line about how they care for everyone going forward. Now I haven’t gotten this email you’ve mentioned. Hmm.

Do you really think GO is good enough to blacklist people!
Are you a leader as well as it was a volunteer update but even then the system can rather glitch.

Same here. It's very sad. And quite inexplicable. In an organisation set up specifically for girls, and having run successfully for many decades, how hard is it to keep on working for girls?

Toseland · 12/12/2025 00:49

They are purposefully stealing funds and resources meant for girls and funnelling them into "trans" and boys. They need to be reported to the Charities Commission.
I suspect lots of funds and resources are being stolen from other women's groups and services e.g. maternity care
