Spotted on the Guardian today:

Raising money for the kimono-clad fox-killer's "Good" Law Project.

Definitely one to avoid!

Sugababes, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Wolf Alice and more to play all-star charity concert for trans rights

Organised by Olly Alexander and the Mighty Hoopla festival to ‘fight back against the politics of fear and exclusion’, Trans Mission will take place at Wembley Arena in March

Do they think they’re band aid? 🤣

But say a prayer
Pray for the other ones
At Christmas time
It's hard, but when you're having fun

There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing
Is the bitter sting of tears

And the Christmas bells that ring there
Are the clanging chimes of doom
Well, tonight thank God it's them
Instead of you

And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life (oh)
Where nothing ever grows, no rain nor rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmas time at all? (oh)

(Here's to you) Raise a glass for everyone
(Here's to them) Underneath that burning sun
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

You mean are they as tone deaf and over privileged as these lyrics?

Yes. Yes they are. You are hitting the nail on the head.

Fat Tony is on the line up, probably not that one though 😂😂😂

I used to really like Fat Tony as a DJ but he’s started to disappear up his own backside these days.

I'm disappointed and a bit surprised to see Beverley Knight there,

Same.

Well, I was going to be pulling all my toenails out that night, but now I know this is an option, I’m still going to be pulling all my toenails out.

No.

Good Law Project fights to resist hate and bring hope – which is a political project. We’re set up as a non-profit company and not a charity, so we can grift harder punch up at power without one hand tied behind our back 🙄

Thanks. I thought so! Not good from the Guardian.

The Good law project does some amazing work, eg they are campaigning to allow women who have been abused to change the surnames of their child(ren) without permission from their abuser.

The reason they are a not for profit company is because their remit includes projects for individuals which charity law doesn’t allow.

That is absolutely one reason. Yep.

Chersfrozenface · 28/11/2025 17:52

FFS Graun, even the publicity poster, in the appeal to donate section, says that GLP is a non-profit company.

In what way does charity law stop work for and with individuals ?

I'm disappointed and a bit surprised to see Beverley Knight there,
I'm not a bit surprised to see Christine and the Queens there🙄but I am surprised to see that Héloïse Adélaïde Letissier is calling her?self Christine again, having been a bloke called Chris for a while.
It would be nice if she was Christine again, because I loved Christine and the Queens in the early days.
The rest of the performers- meh.

Apparently she’s a bloke called Rahim Redcar these days Confused who rejects the need for hormones and surgery for a trans identity.
The idea that anyone observes the tiny little lady in front of them and is comfortable calling her ‘he’ just makes me laugh. But I guess it’s preferable to a tiny little lady who has scars on her chest and a weird squeaky voice.

JanesLittleGirl · 28/11/2025 18:02

Oh no! I appear to have a subsequent engagement.

She is bloody tiresome but Tilted is one of my all time favourite songs.

The article incorrectly describes the Good Law Project as a charity

Still describing GLP as a charity.

One would have thought that a fine upstanding organisation GLP would have asked them to correct this by now...

socool · 28/11/2025 18:05

It would be amazing if a GC version of Sophie/Tarquin (Glinner case) could drive them nuts with a camera phone on the way in and out.

Just don't throw their phones on the ground now.

Yep. I met her last year as she sang at my friends 60th - very disappointed to see her supporting the fox killer

That's odd because the Centre for Women's Justice undertakes strategic litigation and represents individuals, and stepping away from the law, many charities make grants to individuals.

Can you link to where your read this?

Alpacajigsaw · 28/11/2025 18:16

I think I’m scraping out my big toe that night, what a pity.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 28/11/2025 18:45

Whatever! They can sing as much as they like and donate all the money to the fox botherer that they want

I think fwiw it will be successful in that it will sell out snd JM will be gifted yet more money from clueless fuckwits

However tantrums and concerts do not change the law

MowingMachine · 28/11/2025 19:03

We all know why the Grift Law Project isn't a charity. It's because if it were, there would be a lot more oversight of its finances 😐

LarryIsMyRomanEmpire · 28/11/2025 19:06

No amount of singing is going to make men women, or puberty blockers and cross sex hormones ethical.
I do hope all those participating have done their research.

Disappointed

Iamnotalemming · 28/11/2025 20:28

Having listened to the excellent NC on Scotcast this morning, I am reminded that to a lot of people, they consider trans rights to be the next iteration of gay rights, without any further consideration of the issues. It is still however disappointing that these people are willing to put their names to fundraising for the GLP of all things.

I will be interested to see whether it goes ahead and if so how much they raise. Presumably the venue, security etc will not be free, even if the performers are not being paid. So there will be a break even point.

She was a judge on some music programme called Starstruck (think Stars In Their Eyes) along with Adam Lambert and Jason Manford, and she and the other judges kept using "they" about someone, think it was Adam Smith.

She was interviewed and said this:
How does she see the current battle for trans rights? “Oh that’s easy,” she says. “Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Human beings are human beings. The end, full stop. I think the moral panic that exists right now is a confection. It is red meat to a particular section of the electorate. They said the same thing years ago about gay people.”

GingerBeverage · 28/11/2025 20:35

Reckon we’ll see plenty of tickets on Twickets for ‘best offers’ 😆

JemimaTab · 28/11/2025 20:36

That’s quite a serious error on the part of the Guardian, calling the GLP a charity when it is not. Aren’t there laws against wrongly representing yourself as a charity, for example. I know it’s the Guardian rather than GLP that have said this, but still.
