Spotted on the Guardian today:

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2025/nov/28/sugababes-sophie-ellis-bextor-wolf-alice-and-more-to-play-all-star-charity-concert-for-trans-rights

Raising money for the kimono-clad fox-killer's "Good" Law Project.

Definitely one to avoid!

Sugababes, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Wolf Alice and more to play all-star charity concert for trans rights

Organised by Olly Alexander and the Mighty Hoopla festival to ‘fight back against the politics of fear and exclusion’, Trans Mission will take place at Wembley Arena in March

Good for them. It's nice to see them doing something for themselves rather than pissing all over what other people are doing.

Agree.

Someone actually got off their backside and did something.

Just putting this here, in case the lineup quietly changes nearer the time

An embarrassment of hasbeens

Beamur · 28/11/2025 16:27

Sophie Ellis Bextor is fabulous. Harsh to say she can't sing. She's done pretty well as a singer...
I won't be going as I'm too old and not their target audience but the line up isn't bad!

I remember CIF. I was devastated when it closed overnight.

Not that this is what this thread is about, but me too, I was really upset when CIF was removed. I'm also old enough to remember and love the message boards on IMDB and I was gutted when they closed too.

I loved the late Sarah Hughes and her catch up articles in the Guardian about Game of Thrones; it was one of my highlights as I watched each series in real time. There was such a camaraderie back in the day on CIF. And of course I read all Hadley Freeman's articles. I didn't agree with them all, but she and I had the same love of film and I always enjoyed her opinion on women's rights etc.

It was her leaving article in the guardian that triggered the events that led to me realising what was actually going on, and how badly women's rights were being eroded by trans ideology. I was already annoyed at the guardian over their coverage (actually their lack of coverage) of what happened in Cologne (and could see the comments disappear in real time when anyone tried to point out what they'd seen happen there that new year). However, what pushed me over the edge was Hadley's last article saying goodbye to her readers and someone BTL linked to a news source about the REAL reason she was leaving. I was very shocked and quickly dug into it, found this corner of Mumsnet and the rest is history.

Of course Alistair Campbell's daughter is involved, a bit of promotion to his midwit followers will probably shift a few tickets.
The GLP hoovering up the cash & kudos for this might be the thing that finally gets the TRAs to wake up to Jolyon's white saviour schtick.

Good collective nounage.

Oh no Ian McKellan, really?! He's bought the trans nonsense? FFS...

My guess is that there may be some gay men who lived through the time when homosexual acts were criminalised, homophobia was commonplace etc who haven’t applied much critical thought to this (in particular re women’s rights) who assume it’s the same sort of thing.

zanahoria · 28/11/2025 17:01

at least Kate Nash gets a gig

Nobody on that list I care about thank goodness - bunch of divs

Divs! Such a good word and criminally underused these days. 😀

He's a bloke. Trans rights are (largely) about men's rights to do whatever the hell they like and sod any woman who objects. It's just another layer of the patriarchy. But sadly they've managed to hoodwink a lot of women this time.

Chersfrozenface · 28/11/2025 17:05

I presume they're all appearing free of charge. I wonder how many will succumb to the lure of a paying gig on the same date. Assuming they get offered one, which may be less than likely in some cases.

Pleasantsort2 · 28/11/2025 17:07

Urgh... disappointed in the Sugarbabes as thought they had more taste. The rest are gawd awful.

Some of them, on Reddit, are getting wise to his grift. But not enough of them unfortunately, they want to believe so they get taken in by him and his

massive wins!

that are nothing of the sort.

Yes I'm sure there will be some terribly unfortunate, nay heartbreaking 😢, clashes of diaries nearer the time...

soupycustard · 28/11/2025 17:22

What rights are they missing?

lcakethereforeIam · 28/11/2025 17:22

I wonder how they're going to organise the toilets and the backstage changing rooms.

Anyone planning to smash the windows of the venue? Leave bottles of piss all around it? Spray paint it with women's rights slogans? Hold camera 'phones inches from attendants faces? Poke them with a broken umbrella, then try to get them arrested for breaking it? Release crickets inside? Play terfy music so loud that the audience can't hear the acts? No? Me neither.

moto748e · 28/11/2025 17:25

Is the GLP in fact a charity, as the Guardian piece says?

No.

Good Law Project fights to resist hate and bring hope – which is a political project. We’re set up as a non-profit company and not a charity, so we can grift harder punch up at power without one hand tied behind our back 🙄

Governance and funding | Good Law Project

We’re proud that almost all of our funding comes from people across the UK, which keeps us fiercely independent. And we use every last penny to make positive change – not profits.

mamagogo1 · 28/11/2025 17:31

The Good law project does some amazing work, eg they are campaigning to allow women who have been abused to change the surnames of their child(ren) without permission from their abuser.

The reason they are a not for profit company is because their remit includes projects for individuals which charity law doesn’t allow.

I imagine Christinapple has read your comment and already given them the heads-up

What is "terfy music" lcakethereforeIam? 😂

I hope it's whatever I'm listening to!

Not mentioned anywhere on their website is the fact that there is only one person actually in control of the company.
Guess who

I wash my hair every night and will schedule it accordingly.

Plus - Sophie Ellis Bextor can't sing.

Would disagree with the comment that she can't sing.

However I would say she's massively uptight, upper middle class snob who is firmly out of touch with real life.

MarieDeGournay · 28/11/2025 17:36

I'm disappointed and a bit surprised to see Beverley Knight there,
I'm not a bit surprised to see Christine and the Queens there🙄but I am surprised to see that Héloïse Adélaïde Letissier is calling her?self Christine again, having been a bloke called Chris for a while.
It would be nice if she was Christine again, because I loved Christine and the Queens in the early days.
The rest of the performers- meh.

GoldThumb · 28/11/2025 17:39

Do they think they’re band aid? 🤣
