New survey

19% of people say 'trans rights have not gone far enough' in the UK.
39% say 'trans rights have gone too far'.

That's a really big change in the past five years.

'The proportion who say transgender rights have gone too far in the UK has more than doubled since 2020, from 17% to 39%, though overall there is still no public consensus on the issue, with 19% now saying transgender rights have not gone far enough, 27% saying they’ve gone as far as they should, and a further 15% not giving an opinion.
The proportion of people who say transgender rights have gone too far has doubled among all age groups – even 16-24s, where one in five (19%) now feel this way, compared with around one in 10 (9%) in 2020. However, young people are still more likely to say transgender rights have not gone far enough (36%).'

The law is that trans identifying males should be treated the same as any other male, so in a situation where sex is relevant, both would be treated the same.

It was the decision of the trans community (as represented by their organisations) to abandon gatekeeping that has partly led to this.

Isla Bryson had never identified as a woman before being convicted - it would have been simple for Stonewall et al just to say "IB is clearly not trans and should be put in a male prison".

Quite a few trans people think that modern activism has been a disaster for them and I completely agree -sadly it seems the majority of the trans community don't listen to those voices.

By wearing a dress and lipstick and calling themselves Julie they don't directly affect me and they are perfectly entitled to do that in circumstances that it doesn't affect me but by treating me when I ask for a female medic to do my smear test/breast exam they affect me. By entering a space in which I am getting changed and they can observe me doing so they are affecting me . By choosing to compete in female sport they are are affecting me (all the cross sex hormones in the world don't reduce male advantage in sports, they don't reduce height or reach or heart size or blood volume or muscle structure or lung capacity or alter pelvis shape or many of the 100s of differences between male and female bodies). By entering the female prison estate if convicted of a crime they affect women. By entering female toilets they make women of some religious or cultural backgrounds unable to enter them, likewise women who have been victims of male violence or abuse and this affects women.

It is very scary, I was bowled over when my friend said it to me. Our friendship has never recovered. Not because I don't still love her or that I feel badly towards her. But the exchange scared the shit out of me.

I really don't have any issue with people who would prefer to be considered as if they were the opposite sex. But sex in some circumstances does matter. And truth matters.

That's why it's important that TW don't go into women's SSS.

I think it's important to remember that nobody is asking whether a man believes he is a woman before allowing him to use 'inclusive' facilities. He is just being invited to use the facility where he feels more comfortable. No need to pretend anything.

I don't feel lke I'm a woman. I came on mum's net to to get womens perspective on topics and found what I would call a very anti trans group on here.
I've talked to many women, including, mum's, about this subject and most of them do not hold the views I have found I on here.

This doesn't make much sense. In any case, it is not just about safeguarding. When it comes to getting changed, for example, most men want to change with men and most women want to change with women. Why should my teenage daughter be forced to change with men (however they identify)?
