Would a biological woman identifying as a trans woman be accepted in the trans community?

Just curious really if this is something that happens. And if not, what the argument (by trans people) would be against it. Sorry if it’s been covered before. Just been working through some stuff in my head and started to wonder about this!

I think that it means a woman who comes from the Italian side of the Alps.

It’s a woman with a lisp.

So transwomen with lisps may identify as cis women.

Transition by definition is
the process that a transgender person permanently adopts the outward or physical characteristics that match the gender they identify as opposed to the sex they were born

So a man having breast implants or a woman having surgery to remove breasts would be a transition. Biologically they are still the same sex they were born as.

As I women I have short hair and wear jeans.

I identify as a man with gender dysphoria. It’s a different sex to which I was born into.

I permanently adopt long hair and dresses.

I have completed my transition. How dare you suggest trans female isn’t a gender identity?

I can identify as I like.

Self identification is a thought experiment.

Permanetly adopting the outward characteristics that match a gender I identify with is a thought experiment. I can make up a gender identity and its characteristics. Your ‘definition’ isn’t clear in law.

You can acquire a gender recognition certificate of your male gender while having penis in vagina sex and birthing babies while wearing dresses.

Where did I suggest a trans female isn’t a gender identity?

Where did I say people can’t identify as what they like?

’my’ definition isn’t my definition it’s what comes up when you search the definition of transition.

It’s tongue in cheek.

It’s all incapable of any logic or legal definition.

So anyone can be anything without bounds in theory.

Except the truth is is simple.

Transwomen are men. They aren’t and never can be women.

A woman. I don’t know why people don’t just say a woman and need to add ‘cis’ to it. It means someone who’s gender matches their sex

But what if you think gender is a load of outdated, sexist tropes and stereotypes? I mean, without that load of old cobblers, what exactly is gender? There is no way to define it without them is there? So therefore ”cis” means a person who follows those sexist, outdated stereotypes? But to what extent? How strict do you have to follow them to be called “cis”. What if you’re a woman who likes makeup but also likes cars? Are you “cis”?

If you’re a woman who likes make up and also likes cars… you’re still a woman

Yes and if you’re a man who likes dresses and changing in the ladies you’re still a man

I know that. But isn’t a woman liking cars against gender stereotypes? So would I still be a “cis” woman or not? That’s the question? Because obviously my “gender” does not align with my sex. So would I be trans?

In my opinion no that would not make you trans. A stereotype is just basically just an idea of what something is or should be.

If you are a biological woman that likes cars and you say your gender is male then yes you’re trans but you’re not trans if you’re a biological woman who just happens to like cars.

If a dude can say he’s a woman. Then a woman can say she’s a transwoman.

The point of it is the fact that words are meaningless.

Indeed.

If the word “woman” can be reinvented to mean whatever the hell it means this week, then the word “trans” can be reinvented too. No reason a woman can’t be a transwoman if she wants.

Or are only some words up for reinvention?

But how would I know my gender was male? If I’m not male, how would I know I was male? What would I be basing such a claim on?

I guess I’m thinking of it because if sex doesn’t matter why would it matter here? I can kind of imagine a woman identifying as trans. I’ve struggled with fertility problems and facial hair and various things that have made me feel less of a woman. I am old enough now to know that that experience in itself was fundamentally female, but for many years I just thought I was not a very good woman. Am rambling slightly. Thoughts aren’t formed really am just cogitating!

If you feel you are male then you could identify as a man - i.e. become a trans man. However, I don't think that is what you are saying.

Being a woman who identifies as a man who identifies as a woman doesn't make sense and just seems a bit tongue in cheek to the whole concept of being trans.

kimonok · 10/11/2025 17:56

@Namelessnelly Liking cars doesn't mean that your gender doesn't align with your sex.

It makes as much sense as being a male-presenting transwoman.

@Namelessnelly Liking cars doesn't mean that your gender doesn't align with your sex.

What exactly does "a gender that doesn't aligns with a sex" mean?

Is it an inner sense of misalignment with ones body such that the body itself is "wrong", or is it not that the body itself is wrong but the knowledge that because of the social expctations around ones body how others see one does not align with how one sees oneself?

Is there any common factor between women other than belief/knowledge that one is "a woman"?

And if there are no common factors, where do common needs like the need for changing rooms based on gender come from?

Namelessnelly · 10/11/2025 19:16

kimonok · 10/11/2025 17:56

@Namelessnelly Liking cars doesn't mean that your gender doesn't align with your sex.

So what is gender? Is it a load of outdated, sexist stereotypes? If so it should be binged. Is it a “feeling”? In which case why should it trump sex? Unless someone can define gender, what reason should we have for allowing those with a gender identity to enter soaces designated for the opposite sex?

Most people tend to know if they’re male or female

Coatsoff42 · 11/11/2025 06:42

Could you look at someone else and say: clearly your personality and interests don’t align with your biological sex, you are trapped in the wrong body, I am going to offer you transition?

Or is it just the distress that makes it an issue?

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 11/11/2025 06:55

Wasn't there a woman who performed as a drag queen and got accused of appropriation?
🤣

Gender is male or female (which apparently people can decide which they prefer to be).
Someone’s sex is defined by chromosomes.

Noooo. Sexes are male and female. Those are sexes. Not genders.

Your absolute word salad paragraph just goes to show the utter nonsensical status of the debate around this.

If a biological man = transwoman = woman

Then biological woman = transman = man = transwoman = woman

You can no more transition from a woman to a woman as a man to a woman

Transition is meaningless.

Define transition?

Well it's the act of being trans, ie wanting to be the opposite sex, try to pass as such often by using surgery, clothes, hormones etc.

I get why the poster is saying it's difficult to say anyone is a trans anything if they're literally just accepting of the sex they were born with and identifying as such.

I understand but if I wear men’s shirts am I transing?
