https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/2122808/sadiq-khan-grooming-gang-files

This is no surprise after his disgusting responses to the Mayoral Questions last year:

Here he is lying: https://www.google.com/search?q=sadiq+khan+rape+gang+issue+mayoral+questiohns&sca_esv=fbaa7d3b9c35fdd6&udm=7&biw=1445&bih=698&sxsrf=AE3TifPy7V-EXPq_LwF7YzJkipNKJdaksQ%3A1761031972512&ei=JDf3aI_3HqO5hbIPltjWgAI&ved=0ahUKEwiPmaOp47SQAxWjXEEAHRasFSAQ4dUDCBE&uact=5&oq=sadiq+khan+rape+gang+issue+mayoral+questiohns&gs_lp=EhZnd3Mtd2l6LW1vZGVsZXNzLXZpZGVvIi1zYWRpcSBraGFuIHJhcGUgZ2FuZyBpc3N1ZSBtYXlvcmFsIHF1ZXN0aW9obnNIqwtQ6wFYhQpwAXgBkAEBmAFroAGZBqoBAzguMbgBA8gBAPgBAZgCAaACBsICChAAGLADGNYEGEeYAwCIBgGQBgSSBwExoAf5CLIHALgHAMIHAzItMcgHBA&sclient=gws-wiz-modeless-video#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:4d0001a7,vid:noJCNh60lfk,st:0

He has to go.

I suppose if you read your post again, you wouldn’t see the glaring errors you are making in your thinking it’s very sad

Why not explain what the glaring errors are, for clarity?

If I was a mayor and there'd never been a grooming gang scandal I'd be thinking "what is more likely, that this phenomenon didn't come to my town, or that it did but it's been covered up deliberately or through incompetent policing that has failed to join the dots?" I would also be thinking, "however unlikely it might be I can't simply assume that there's nothing to see here - I need to be certain there's nothing to see here".

dottiehens · 21/10/2025 09:51

There is a reason he needs an entourage wherever he goes. How low has London fallen since he is the mayor. I hope when the next Mayor comes he is indicted for his corruption and crimes if found guilty of such things. I can’t wait.

nauticant · 21/10/2025 10:04

Ellie Reynolds, one of the abuse survivors who quit her role in the government inquiry's victims and survivor's liaison panel is being interviewed on Woman's Hour now.

OuterSpaceCadet · 21/10/2025 10:05

Fuck knows I wanted to vote for Khan last mayoral elections because the racist abuse he received was abhorrent. Plus he grew up locally to me.

But the man's a coward who won't confront his own bias. He dismissed Joan Smith from her role as co chair of the London VAWG board because she refused to pretend men with special identities posed no threat to women. Smith has researched the strong correlation between terrorists and domestic violence histories. This seems so important: a theory which cuts across culture and race thereby pulling the narrative away from racist far right rhetoric; and an opportunity to prevent the growth of misogynist violent men into full blown extremists whilst also protecting the women and children they start out by harming.

So if I understand the article correctly, SK denied that there was evidence of Rochdale-style grooming gangs operating in London, while having read reports of sex crimes that Maggie Oliver claims indicate the existence of such gangs.

He hasn't denied having read the reports, just denied that they indicate what it's being claimed they indicate, right? Surely the key point is exactly what's in the reports and whether it was reasonable to support the conclusion he did.

An inquiry might be a good idea, but I don't see anything yet, without much more information, to incriminate him.

Exactly this.

TheCatsTongue · 21/10/2025 11:05

I find it strange how Khan (particularly on MN) seems to hold this mythical position where he will always be defended no matter how bad the state of London is.

I'm not surprised he has been so dismissive of this scandal, because he has been the same on all difficult matters and is more interested at being seen at the front of whatever festival/event is happening in London.

Obviously the rape gangs go back decades so he can't be blamed for lack of action, but he is another on a long list who would rather ignore them.

Doesn't surprise me. The way he was baiting Susan Hall in that meeting was sickening. He thought pretending he didn't know what grooming gangs meant was funny!

That was typical Labour and revolting goading

SquirrelosaurusSoShiny · 21/10/2025 11:22

I have come to really dislike him.

Onmytod24 · 21/10/2025 11:57

Wasn’t it the Metropolitan police as well as the mayor who didn’t think the evidence stacked up so why all the criticism for the mayor and none it seems for the Metropolitan police?

He was absolutely baiting her to say “Pakistani” so he could accuse her of racism. I’m brown, that was transparent and quite sickening tbh, either you give a shit about whats right and decent or you don’t. Little shit.

In that case he could talk about the instances they have seen and why he thinks they don’t meet the threshold but that they are taking it seriously and doing something about it instead of making a show of himself like that.

I’ve just started to read Joan Smith’s book on terrorism because it draws a link between violence against women and terror. I think it’s so sad that violence against girls and women in and of itself is not enough for anyone to pay attention. Been feeling really down, I felt really happy after the progress on women's rights with the TRA’s but I feel we are still sliding so badly everywhere else.

Labour’s seeming sabotage of it’s on inquiry just makes me feel fucking miserable. The conservatives could have done this when they were in power. It just feels like as long as it’s happening to females no-one gives a shit. It’s fucking scandalous.

Oh dear OP. Maybe get off the express and turn off GB News 😂

What the actual fuck! People like you embody the shitty attitudes that has enabled the rape of tens of thousands of girls.

miraxxx · 21/10/2025 12:51

defrazzled · 21/10/2025 08:41

@Ncforthis2244 perhaps think why the express is the only paper covering this? where is the Guardian? The BBC?

They will be on the case pronto if you can demonstrate Tommy Robinson types are raping and trafficking the cases. Otherwise, crickets.

Not true at all that the mayor has been singled out. There is plenty of criticism for the MetPol but it is Sadiq's peculiar obtuseness and stonewallying that has caught attention. His attitude stinks and is indicative of an institutional cover up.

Fionasapples · 21/10/2025 12:58

@Ncforthis2244 what a pathetic response. Never mind women being raped as long as you can make a joke out of it.

In London, the elected Mayor – Sadiq Khan, is the equivalent of the Police and Crime Commissioner and is responsible for the totality of policing in the capital (outside of the City of London

OuterSpaceCadet · 21/10/2025 13:11

FFS it's usually taken as given that the Metropolitan Police are institutionally misogynist and racist, I mean everyone knows that?

@Bringemout I hope to read Home Grown properly myself at some point! I share your sadness that violence against women and girls was never considered a serious enough problem in its own right. But terrorism tends to be a subject everyone cares about. Amazing that even that pales into insignificance if there's the tiniest chance of offending the (incidentally largely middle class and white) men who claim super special identities.

The idea that male white privilege in a dress and sparkly eyeshadow still trumps community cohesion privilege is darkly funny.

You are absolutely right, whatever it takes to fix it.

dropoutin · 21/10/2025 13:24

@WorriedMutha

The Express article references a video in which Khan professes not to understand the question and deliberately conflates grooming gangs with county lines. Unless anyone is arguing this is AI, engage with the substance of the topic. I get really pissed off with those who denigrate the poster because the source is from the right.

I've no reason to believe it's AI but it has obviously been edited between the sections with the questions being asked and the sections with Khan speaking. It doesn't look at all like a single take in which each answer clearly relates to the previous question - there is no sense of natural flow between them and there are flashes of light covering the switch from one segment to the next - so it could be anything. It's clearly been constructed to make him look evasive by focusing on the "please clarify the question" comments over and over again, but it's not at all clear that that's an accurate portrayal of the whole conversation.

And it's not even done very well. I'm surprised you fall for it TBH.

It's not refusing to "engage with the substance of the topic" to acknowledge that gutter media outlets like the Express do this stuff all the time, that they are pursuing an agenda to incriminate SK, and that a heavily edited video in service of that agenda proves nothing.

dropoutin · 21/10/2025 13:25

PronounssheRa · 21/10/2025 09:16

The idea that there are no grooming gangs operating in London is nonsensical, London is not some mythical utopia.

That Khan ignores, even denies the existance of such gangs is shameful.

Why is it nonsensical? Are you saying we should assume by default that there are grooming gangs in every city, unless there's clear evidence to the contrary?
