Should I only be concerned abouts the rights of women who are the same religion or ethnicity as myself?

Can I not be concerned about the rights of all women

It's a fun run.
Plenty of single sex sports events exist.

Needmorelego · 12/10/2025 15:27

spannasaurus · 12/10/2025 14:01

@Needmorelego do you believe that British women should all have the same rights or does it depend on their religion

Edited

I believe in women's rights regardless of religion.
I also believe if a mosque wants to organise a fun run that's men and children only then that's up to them.

@Needmorelego

It’s lucky all of society isn’t arranged around your likes and dislikes. If the women didn’t want o race tat is their choice, except it is not their choice is it because they weren’t given one.

How do you know?
Do you attend that mosque?

Needmorelego · 12/10/2025 15:29

blueliner · 12/10/2025 14:07

What makes you presume this?

They don't have to attend that mosque if they don't like it.

It's a fun run.
Plenty of single sex sports events exist.

But it’s not single sex. It’s all males AND females under 12. Why are you being deliberately obtuse?

Both age and sex discrimination being shamelessly played out in our capital city. Nothing fun about that.

There's a huge amount of women's only sports events and sessions that take place all over the UK.

I am not Muslim.
I don't follow any faith.
But I am sick of the anti Muslim crap that the media keeps drumming up to cause more hatred.
This article about the fun run was clearly written to flame hatred.
It's a community fun run for men and (under 12) children organised by a mosque.
I'm sure the mosque organises women only events too.
The hatred in the UK at the moment is becoming frightening.

Sunshineandoranges · 12/10/2025 15:35

Noorandapples · 12/10/2025 13:02

Plenty of runs are organised by and for muslim women explicitly excluding men, in general most muslim women dont WANT to run with a bunch of sweaty men

But they should have the freedom to choose!

DiscoBob · 12/10/2025 15:37

Calling Whitechapel 'uber liberal enclave' is a bit ridiculous. It's an area with an enormous Muslim population and has been for decades. And it's unloved and poverty stricken in the most part. Obviously it's liberal in that there's plenty of brown people. But no more so than anywhere else in north or east London.

Needmorelego · 12/10/2025 15:39

Whitechapel Leisure Centre - in an area with a large Islamic population runs entire Women Only sessions.
Why is that ok but a bunch of blokes running around a park not?
Seriously people....this article wasn't about women's rights. It was anti Muslim Daily Mail crap.

Why do you think that religious organisations in the UK should not follow UK law?

See my post above about Women's Only sessions at Whitechapel Leisure Centre.
Are they against UK law?
What UK laws has the mosque broken?

I have no idea but single sex groups are not illegal?
As far as I know.

Open to everyone: runners, walkers, and children (girls under 12 and boys of any age)

Needmorelego · 12/10/2025 15:45

Here are two events I literally found online by Googling that take place in South London.
Oh by the way....they are organised by a CHRISTIAN church.
Illegal?
Daily Mail readers fuming about this? I doubt it.

Mosque in uber-liberal London enclave bans all females over 12 from charity park run...

Are those events single sex or mixed sex like the race in question

a race for men and boys would be compliant

They let little kids join in.
That's all.
Their mosque. Their rules.
I am leaving this thread because it's clearly just exactly what the Daily Mail wants.
Anti Islam hatred.

But people assume a Christian church in England will be mostly white people so they won’t be bothered. They just like getting angry about brown people, and in particular, brown men.
