Couldn’t see a thread on this.
In the latest of Breastfeeding batshittery..‘Breastfeeding and Lactation Support UK’ have today posted this.

I am so angered by it. The UK breastfeeding rates are amongst some of the lowest globally. We should be empowering women, not erasing them. Encouraging them to leave if they disagree?? They should be ashamed.

I’m just here to educate the no doubt well meaning folx who founded this group. They seem very uneducated in how to support trans identifying folx.

This is a pisstake yes?

They agree to the group rules when they join, they are then tagged in them as well they are well aware of the rules and any post that goes against the rules are decline otherwise what would be the point in having rules. Would your energy be the same if someone posted using racist language would you be okay with that being posted in the group?

Race is something that actually exists though.

STMWBec · 16/09/2025 22:41

No.

Why on earth would any males need “including” in a breastfeeding support group?
Such utter tripe.
“The validity of people’s existence” !!
What the actual fuck?

Show me where the original post specifically mentions males or men?
Imagine being so close minded that when you see the word "trans" or "inclusivity" your mind automatically jumps to men or male presenting people.
AFAB (assigned female at birth) Non binary people are also transgender and deserve inclusive language and to feel comfortable within a social space. AFAB non binary people also breastfeed and deserve support.

STMWBec · 16/09/2025 22:42

So now you're saying gender doesn't exist? Weird take.

Deadlyc0rpse · 16/09/2025 22:43

And she’s a student midwife….

And a fucking amazing one xoxo

I'm not required to be professional on Mumsnet babe!

I think you actually are. You have already publicly outed yourself as Rebecca O'Connor, identifiable on the NMC register of midwives which is available online. Your professional conduct is in the public domain here and you can be reported to your regulator if there is a breach.

You may want to revisit some of your comments on this post.

To be fair, some of the language you have used tonight could be seen to be akin to racism, you’ve been quite offensive to trans folx and I do think you should maybe educate yourself more if you wish to truly support the vulnerable members of your group.

Is it really so hard to believe that not all women think or speak the same as you?

Surely anyone would become defensive when people are talking about damaging their career?

At what point did we as a society completely lose the ability to discuss things respectfully and disagree respectfully. This is exactly why it's impossible to have a genuine debate or discussion around this issue or any other issue that borders into the existence of trans or non binary people. People care way too much about being 'right' or the most 'virtuous' and it just shuts down what should be a fair discussion about how things can be done to include everyone in a practical way.

Ummm. Chestfeed please!, why are you being so transphobic!!!!

Please tell me you are not comparing saying ‘mamas’ in a breastfeeding group to racism….

I’m getting off this crazy train 👋🏻

....you do see tbe difference between someone saying 'hey mamas' and someone using racist language, right?

STMWBec · 16/09/2025 22:46

Yes one would be racism and the other would be transphobic. Both still still not okay though.

STMWBec · 16/09/2025 22:47

I'm comparing transphobia and racism.

Can you look at my posts and then ‘Becs’ and tell me which were sensible? I don’t recall sticking my finger up to anyone. (Still don’t believe it is her).

Creepy? For being inclusive - ok

Yes creepy, you seem to have built an online group that masquerades as a support group for breastfeeding mothers but really is a place for inserting biological males in women's breastfeeding experiences as some kind of perverse fetish. Its utterly abhorrent and predatory.

Namelessnelly · 16/09/2025 22:49

AnneLovesGilbert · 16/09/2025 22:40

Oh no! I am deadly serious. The damage this group could do to the poor vulnerable trans folx they claim to support could be immeasurable. They’ve already denied transmen are biological men, excluded transwomen from womanhood, used offensive terms such as breastfeeding, claimed only biological women can chestfeed, and referred to birthing parents as “mothers”

STMWBec · 16/09/2025 22:49

Believe it or not. I don't really care tbh.

The mental gymnastics you must’ve performed to come to this conclusion are impressive. My goodness.

'Hey mamas' is transphobic? Wow.

As per another poster, I'm stepping off this thread - it is at another level of batshittery.

Hoping all the women who find themselves scolded by this group and self exclude find support groups who actually have their best interests at heart, instead of a group devoted to an arm flailing adherence to ideology.

STMWBec · 16/09/2025 22:50

Correction creating a space for anyone who needs lactating support regardless of their gender identity.

Namelessnelly · 16/09/2025 22:50

STMWBec · 16/09/2025 22:47

I'm comparing transphobia and racism.

But in this thread you have exhibited transphobia. You are the only one being transphobic. Please, for the sake of your vulnerable trans members, educate yourself. They deserve better.

STMWBec · 16/09/2025 22:52

Well yes to exclude trans people in the group only and trans erasure is absolutely transphobia.
