‘It's highly, highly unlikely some random trans person developed the skills to be able to shoot a sniper gun from half a KM away from a rooftop. You need years and years of military training to achieve that sort of aim.’

Who told you that?
All the experts I have read online/people in RL with a little firearms experience have agreed it was an easy shot which could have been done by a relative novice. A 20 year old with many years experience hunting, no problem.

It's quite scary that there are people out there believing this kind of conspiracy theory bollocks.

It was only a matter of time that some anti semite conspiracy theorist nutjob tried to point the finger at Israel over CK assassination.

This is why there are cases of actual or attempted political assassinations (from left and right).

PestoHoliday · 14/09/2025 10:31

The OP is unsubstantiated gossip. Until actual, solid, reliable information comes out, it's irresponsible to spread such rumours. The fact the Sunday Times and other mention "reports of" without backing it up is no evidence of it's truth or untruth. It's just speculation by a relative of a flatmate, as sexed up by a tabloid for more sensational headlines.

The Mossad conspiracy theory is a whole new level of batshit.

As a society I do think we need to talk about the fact that many vulnerable young people, with additional needs such as ASD or depression/aspergers etc have been lied to by medical professional.....lied to by people older than them, lied to by their very teachers in school and been told they are trans, when they are actually just struggling to fit in with societal expectations of how to be a male or female. These young people have been subject to surgeries and hormones which aren't helping them....they are angry and they have guns. Some have extreme views and wish death to people who are just telling the truth.

I knew someone was going to say that…

Hunting deer in the US is a facet of wildlife management. Most of the apex predators have been made locally extinct, which leaves humans as the only apex predators who can stop the deer overgrazing and then starving.

Therefore hunters are licensed to cull a certain number of deer each year. They are expected to take the deer carcasses home and eat them.

If you’re vegetarian, fine, but even so I would expect you’d see the point of teaching a child that the meat on their table came from killing a living creature.

I live in the UK. My dc attends cadets, where she has learned to shoot a rifle. And she enjoys it as she’s a good shot. She’s also pretty good at clay pigeon shooting. We are not republicans.

I don’t think you can diagnose political belief or bigotry or anything else from the fact that someone is a good marksman. In the US, particularly in the southern states, guns are a massive part of the culture. Personally, I think that US gun laws are unhinged but that’s beside the point - it’s pretty normal to own a gun there and pretty normal to be a decent shot, particularly if you hunt.

Hoppinggreen · 14/09/2025 10:38

IF this is true then it may point to a possible motive. IF TR was gay and was bought up in a religious conservative household then it will have had a negative impact on his Mental Health.
I imagine being gay is incredibly difficult in families like that

Absolutely - it's a long list - GPs, politicians, medical researchers.

thirdfiddle · 14/09/2025 10:40

There are quite determined efforts online to pin this crime on various different groups. I don't think enough is known just yet but IF it is true he has a close trans friend and IF it is true that the US far right are anti trans (which I think it is - not in a gender critical way but in a gender enforcing way) then it would tend to rule out badging this as a far right crime.

BotswanaBay · 14/09/2025 04:43

There's no evidence of this, the NY Post is a rag. Being pictured in a onesie does not make someone transgender.
I'm saying that as someone who is quite strongly GC.

Read the article; it seems to be based on a lot more than that.

Shortshriftandlethal · 14/09/2025 10:59

LittleAlexHornesPocket · 14/09/2025 07:40

He also had white republican parents. So I'm sure you're going to demonise white republican people as well as trans people right? Because they associated with him and therefore must also be responsible, right? Maybe he had a black friend as well so the racists can blame black people.

Seriously, listen to yourself. You have zero idea what his motivations are at this point or who he was influenced by. Your hatred of trans people is giving you the blinkers.

Pot. Kettle. Black..comes to mind.

Shortshriftandlethal · 14/09/2025 11:03

maximc · 14/09/2025 09:26

I'm gender critical & I think it's totally irrelevant that an alleged criminal has a friend or partner who may identify as trans, unless it's proven they were involved. The alleged killer & the friend may have agreed Kirk had hateful views re LGBT+ people, which is a lawful opinion, but that doesn't mean the friend knew about or would encourage a plan to harm Kirk.

No, but such factors can point to the atmosphere of the cultural milieu in which one lives.

This post is indicative of someone having entered into the orbit of, and being sucked down into, a very large conspiracy vortex.

Shineonyoucrazy · 14/09/2025 11:22

I sometimes hate the way this board stoops and grasps. The notion that because something is “ widely reported” it’s more than speculation is ludicrous. Just leave it - hopefully the facts will come out at the trial.

Antisemitism.

It’s an age-old trope, blaming everything on the Jews.

At least in this instance there is actually going to be a trial (as often in these sorts of scenarios the perpetrator is dead leaving questions unanswered).

Well, hopefully there will be a trial, fingers crossed he’s being kept physically safe (including from himself) in jail.

Nobody is "stooping". They are responding to the thread starter. There does seem to be an indication that the assassin was living with a male who was identifying as a woman. This tells us nothing definitive, but it does potentially point towards some of the sort of surrounding culture/atmosphere that the assassin was inhabiting and how that may have encouraged him to do what he did.

my comment refers only to the word innocently, you don’t teach a child to use a gun innocently

its purposeful…whether its for protection, crime or hunting

Perhaps. It can sometimes just be the appeal of "knowing" things that other people don't.

NextRinny · 14/09/2025 12:41

My thanks to the OP.
And to the other person who added the conspiracy theory.

Yes it is speculation.

But I'm glad to hear it so i can judge for myself how much salt to add to the tale.

I think it is really good MN isn't a rumour policing echo chamber.

Innocently means ‘not guilty of a crime or offence’ or ‘without responsibility for or direct involvement in an event yet suffering its consequences’.

That is, the parents were not guilty of any crime or offence when they taught their child how to hunt, nor were they directly involved in their son’s decision to use those skills to murder someone.

I think you’re getting confused by the difference in meaning between the adverb and the adjective.

I assume the poster is referring to this article which was published today. It doesn't confirm anything, just summarises what other outlets are reporting:

"The FBI declined to comment about reporting on Saturday including by conservative media outlets Fox News and the New York Post, citing law enforcement sources, that Robinson lived with a partner who was trans – a member of a community against whom Kirk rallied – and was cooperating with investigators.

Meanwhile, citing a half-dozen of its own sources familiar with the case, the left-leaning Axios said authorities were investigating whether Robinson believed Kirk’s views on gender identity were “‘hateful’ to people like Robinson’s transgender roommate”."

Questions linger about alleged shooter’s motivation for killing Charlie Kirk
