Because of course he did.

Note to MN and monitors. Nicoresti is described as a "trans woman", therefore biologically male, therefore "he" is factually correct.

Jesus. Anyone actually seen her performance, or is it okay to just slag someone off for being trans? Don't answer that.

HIS performance.

Observational comedy needs to observe real life accurately though - he didn’t.

To me, it was simply a repackaged, blokey, transactivist rant. I guess if you think, uncritically, that transactivism is “the right side of history” you might find it funny. I was rolling my eyes in the same way I do when any transactivist attempts gaslighting arguments.

It's quite telling how even when you're making comedy about being trans, it's unfailingly sexist.

Was his entire act about being trans? Because if so, he's going to run out of material pretty quickly.

I’m not sure which “trans creator” of the last decade or so hasn’t made their entire schtick or personality about being “trans”. Which is enthralling for them and their supporters. Boring af for everyone else.

Abhannmor · 24/08/2025 09:41

Didn't the Izzard of Was win it once? Or maybe he wasn't trans then .

I thought we'd made good progress with getting women in comedy more recognition lately, and yet again an award goes to a man. Unfortunately it seems the industry is just so captured.

and a very unfunny man at that. I listened to about 4 minutes of him. It was dire.

I think he was a runner up in the main award? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Edinburgh_Comedy_Award_winners
I may have missed his name though.

Absolutely average comedy - suburbia open mic level.

Glad he ‘won’ Best Comedy and not best Female Comedy.

He won't need that much material. He'll use this award to get on panel shows and podcasts. That fame will get him audience who want to hear the same stuff over and over again.

Im guessing he will never get bored of thinking and talking about himself.

WimbledonWhites · 24/08/2025 09:52

I will wait with bated breath to see if they go on to have an illustrious career like many of the previous winners.

And on podcasts and radio panel shows, people will just hear a man

Sounds fine. Congratulations to them.

I liked him so much more when he was a gender non conforming heterosexual man.

Which I suppose he still is, but with shiny new labels.

JaninaDuszejko · 24/08/2025 12:06

Izzard used to identify as transvestite (They're not women's clothes. They're my clothes. I bought them). And he won the Perrier Award in 1993. And I believe he was funny back then as well.

Waitwhat23 · 24/08/2025 13:51

Utterly unsurprised that he's posted the usual safari trophy pose in women's toilets.

These men show us how much they hate actual women.

Safari trophy is right. I was going to rant but you know I actually just find that picture upsetting. Times change. Woman hate is eternal indeed.

SerendipityJane · 23/08/2025 17:52

Were they funny ?

My thoughts too.

Mollyollydolly · 24/08/2025 14:31

Having listened to 5 minutes of his act ..
Middle class, arrogant, entitled bloke spends 5 minutes ranting at women with sexist material.
I mean, groundbreaking? Why because he's wearing a blouse?

Oh... that's not very nice, is it?

Also, what the feck is he wearing?

The only thing he has in common with women will be having his appearance judged more than his ability. Maybe he'll consider that a win.

He looks like he’s borrowed Jolyon’s kimono.

What a pathetic b4stard. His poor mum & dad.

Waitwhat23 · 24/08/2025 16:36

Fonty on Twitter put it best, I think regarding that toilet trophy photo -

'The big gamete hunters are on safari again'

Is trolling women part of the act? He’s just a “progressive” version of Jim Davidson.

SinnerBoy · 24/08/2025 17:43

They really ought to criminalise unauthorised men in women's toilets.
