Sturgeon accuses JK of toxic trans debate

The world has probably had enough of sturgeon to last a lifetime but today’s ‘revelation’ from her shite book is just infuriating.

A long catalogue of poor me, I’m pure of spirit, any criticism is toxic, everyone else is malevolent.

Despite calling people who don’t agree with her idiotic bill racists, homophobes and misogynists, here she says JK’s teeshirt didn’t elevate the debate or illuminate the issues.

And then goes on to say that this issue wasn’t really that important to mainstream voters but we are all guilty of hysteria.

And she wishes she had the courage to call a rapist female.

For someone allegedly politically astute this book is a very stupid strategy. Slow hand clap.

That Reddit forum! ‘Well we can only remember Isla Bryson’s name, if there were loads of other men identifying as women who were raping & sexually assaulting women I’m sure we’d know of them.

If only somebody could invent something where we looked up information like this🤔🤔. Until then I’m calling Bad Apple’

Or some such guff.

Can I do a little edit here? This bothers me:

Either “Women who want to chide women for criticising politicians” or “people who want to chide people for criticising politicians”.
The way you have written it places the emphasis on ‘women’ - intentionally, I know - but it sounds exclusive.

And as per previous post, I don’t really care about Sturgeon per se. I do think criticism should be political and not personal, though. I have the confidence of my own mind and opinions and simply because, say, Influential Person A believes something, doesn’t mean I should. I see that too often here.

No, you can not. I wrote exactly what I intended to write.

That Reddit thread is wild. Even the people who are trying to be relatively sensible still have to show pronoun respect to convicted rapists.

I actually have more respect for the consistency, though. If someone says they are 'trans', then they are trans. Their character should have nothing to do with it.

You do have to laugh (bitterly) at the response to pages and pages of posters giving specific examples of how Sturgeon has done her level best to destroy women's rights and why women are so angry at her attempt to handwave all those examples away being 'well you only dislike her because JKR said so!!'

It's just fuckwittery at its finest.

Anyone who is unsure about why a nation of women are furious about all this really needs to read 'The Women Who Wouldn't Wheesht'. Many, many contributers (including JKR) stating in unflinching detail about how we Scottish women have been betrayed by our Government.

But I'm sure the fuckwittarians will still sycophantically laugh at the (mildly amusing) clicky pen/hold the door shite while ignoring male sex offenders in male prisons and the like. And then have the gall to say shit like 'have the confidence of my own mind and opinions and simply because, say, Influential Person A believes something, doesn’t mean I should. I see that too often here.'

Continuing.to.never.stop.rolling.my.eyes

The clickypen hold the door shite was Janey Godley.

In the spirit of balance, I will agree that Sturgeon was a good performer. The trouble is that there was nothing of substance behind the performance. Well, nothing good.

The clicky pen shite was jumped upon by a legion of chuckling idiots who seemed convinced that Sturgeon was doing some sort of comedy double act and who praised her to the skies for dealing with the situation 'better than Boris' despite the strategy appearing to be 'do the same as Westminister, but add 48 hours to it'

Settling down to watch NS do this, always with a slight tweak to the Westminster edict, gave DH and me some much welcome amusement during the pandemic

I think the next thing for the bingo card is probably going to be something along the lines of "you only think that because of JKRowling".

Which is amusing given the history.

Many of us have been here since well before JKR wrote the essay.

SionnachRuadh · 13/08/2025 21:55

It wasn't unlike Starmer's strategy, which was to get a leak of what Boris was planning to do, and then demand Boris do it 48 hours earlier.

This suited Boris down to the ground as it allowed him to marginalise his own backbenchers.

Sometimes I wonder who was whose patsy in those strange days.

Dear Nicola did her best to destroy womens rights. I dont need JKR to tell me that @VoulezVouz but since it's the truth why would I, or any woman with sense, disagree with her?

If you think she is some sort of saint then, politely, you need to see a doctor as there is something wrong with you.

Where did I say she’s a saint?

Tootsweets23 · 14/08/2025 07:58

Anyone else hitting refresh on JK’s website waiting for her review of sturgeon’s shite book to drop?

Ask the people who keep bringing up Isola Bryson if they can name any other trans prisoners who were convicted of sex offences other than doing sex work.

maaaate

Karen White, Sarah Jane Baker (not sure if he was convicted of a sex offence but we know he committed one against his young male victim), Andrew Miller, Karen Jones, Katie Dolatowski, Martin Ponting just for starters.

these men aren’t in prison for “sex work” 🙄

Selling sex isn't an imprisonable offence in the UK, so the simple answer is that no trans prisoners convicted of sex offences in the UK are in prison for selling sex.

Do threats of rape against your mother count, probably not if you are trying to obfuscate, Barbie Kardashian.

yes IIRC the only prostitution crimes which might count as sex crimes involve the exploitation of others.

He wanted move to the US and act in porn, so kinda.

But there was one done for CSA while lawfully engaged in prostitution (doing time in the Mens Prison because he had no GRC.)

He decided upselling extra services by providing images of child sex abuse was a good idea.

He client was so appalled by the "offer" that he goes to the police and admits he was engaded in a crime (buying sex) with a risk of a 5 year prison term.

So since 2015 that 4 violent male immates claiming a transgender identity which were picked up by the media in Progressive Ireland.

And 3 with GRC from a population of 1000 who have a GRC (with 50% of that population likely being female) the most safe demographic is reaching with no evidence.

The actual Dail record officially confirms that the first one was in foe CSA in late 2019 or early 2020 so its not as if is a hidden issue nor the issue of Sex offenders is just a Scottish "problem".

The UK prison numbers speak for themselves.

not the point, but do we know what happened to the client?

Cant say.
from memory of the media report the police then raided and found evidence so no witness evidence for possession was needed.
I also think after arrest the Offender gave a witness statement about buyers or they tracked distribution via electronic devices so no need for a witness for that charge either and others could have been charged for CSA image possession.

Taking a case for buying sex would be up to the DPP (irish CPS) so they can choose to decline to take a case as not being in the public interest. I cant imagine a jury voting guilty and all the consequences that would flow from that as they would want to believe they would make the same choice in the same situation so would "forgive" the first act as an act of justice.

This say 15 guilty verdict from 161 charges Court cases
