NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #41

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence will be 28 July and then there will be 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing will end on 30 July.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

J really focussing questions in difference in treatment of DU and SP - Du had to be informed of everything urgently and changes to ix through his support person KS whereas for SP nobody knows if informed at all.

Ms Cunningham asks whether Ms Peggie was "guilty of the unforgivable heresy to pretend to believe Dr Upton is a woman".
Ms Hamilton rejects the idea that NHS Fife board had been deliberately trying to punish Ms Peggie.

Well if he changes career, there's every chance that she'll also be considering her future plans. Maybe there's an opportunity for her too.

Plus it doesn't seem like Upton has a problem finding support.

Am I right in thinking the last IT witness was a private hearing? Do you think tomorrow morning be public?

I thought from the emails we've seen this HR witness would have been more supportive of Peggie.
Instead we're hearing that there was no independent evidence to support the patient care allegations, but that they weren't necessarily lies (from Upton)

Have Fife been hounding this witness because it's not what I was expecting at all.

Or is this a different HR person?
I've spent ages struggling to follow her testimony, I actually have a headache now
