NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #36

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence will be 28 July and then there will be 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing will end on 30 July.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

Access to view the hearing remotely was obtainable by sending an email request to [email protected] by 5pm on Wednesday 9 July. Detailed instructions were provided here:

Probably the Scottish Mail?

Had a look and although I can find the main article, I can't find the relevant inset box, even typing in the specific sub headline.

Might be in the print copy.

Tried that 3 times, going to the loo twice and took a phone call and had a chat with the binman.

I'm running out of ideas to get this to start!

Raspberry leaf tea?

I've been to the corner shop, swept the kitchen floor, done the washing up and still nothing.

Do I need to start cleaning the oven?

Journalists are being allowed into the tribunal room, so looks like it's about to start...

No. That’s misinformation as humour.

If your experience as an employer is that trump supporting employees have caused long expensive tribunals, would it be discriminatory of you if this information caused you not to employ trump supporters?

Yes

RedToothBrush · 22/07/2025 12:15

Ah so the shit has finally hit the fan.

Interesting.

And Dammit, Kate Searle is going to dodge giving evidence isn't she!?

Nip out to the corner shop for 5 mins.

That always makes parcels arrive.

Pluvia · 22/07/2025 12:16

Right, I'm off to make courgette fritters for lunch. Nigella recipe. Add a bit of chilli. Half an hour. Don't let them start without me.

Boiledbeetle · 22/07/2025 12:16

PlasticAcrobat · 22/07/2025 12:15

Raspberry leaf tea?

I've only got ginger!

I've just tried hanging the washing out I see that was unsuccessful in getting it to start as well!

That might explain the grinning on the way in.

Pete needs to be careful, a plunger is not the way to tackle a blocked toilet as he may well end up covered in backwash.

A snake's the way to go

Pete may be trying to fix the loos and he's taking his time, which would explain the delay
