ADF (one of the religious right orgs that some GC groups have been in bed with), are specifically mentioned here.

I doubt that many here will be interested given that it doesn't involve deranged, seething hate of trans people, but if anything this is a 'told you so' for future me to use.

A powerful anti-rights movement is growing in the UK

A powerful anti-rights movement is growing in the UK, threatening to roll back our hard-won freedoms and rewrite the rules on whose rights, bodies and lives deserve protection. But - we refuse to be divided. @amnestyUK

You really do believe any shit that suits your narrative, don't you?

SionnachRuadh · 09/07/2025 15:03

Mate, the gents is over there. Nobody's going to beat you up.

Arran2024 · 09/07/2025 15:05

Ha, hilarious, given that it was Stonewall that were being funded by the US. Gender critical work is mostly self funded, including generous donations by JKR. Your lot have big pharma for starters.

Igneococcus · 09/07/2025 15:08

And Amnesty, really? Amnesty who thinks sex "work" is fine and dandy, fuck off.

thirdfiddle · 09/07/2025 15:08

"We refuse to be divided"

Aka we kick out everyone who disagrees with us.

No news there then.

MyAmpleSheep · 09/07/2025 15:08

I'd love a reckoning of how much public money is being spaffed by the government on TRA organizations.

rubyslippers · 09/07/2025 15:10

Amnesty lost their way years ago
a group dedicated to political prisoners etc parroting trans women are women blindly for the last few years

for women Scotland funded their own legal case
JKR uses her own money
sandy peggie donated money raised for her case to charity

BedlingtonWillow · 09/07/2025 15:11

Organisations pump money into issues they care about shocker.

Powerful anti-rights movement? Isn't that what transactivism is? It's done a great job of rolling back women's rights.

TeenToTwenties · 09/07/2025 15:12

@BeeSouriante I asked on another thread you started but you never bothered to answer.

What rights do trans people not have in the UK that other people do have?

They have the right not to be discriminated against for jobs and housing. They can marry anyone who wants to marry them.
They are allowed into same sex spaces.
They can access the NHS for non elective medical treatment.

If you don't answer this time, I will assume you are a bad faith poster not interested in proper discussion.

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/07/2025 15:12

Amnesty used to be great. Really great. I wrote so many letters.

<sigh>

Beowulfa · 09/07/2025 15:15

I would click on the link, but I'm hate-seething so much my fingers have swollen up.

EmpressaurusKitty · 09/07/2025 15:15

Amnesty, who provide placards reading ‘I AM WHO I SAY I AM’ which is a bloody dangerous message when it comes to safeguarding and surely not something anyone with any sense would teach their kids.

That was just one more irresponsible feature of Steph Richards’s Portsmouth FiLiA protest, with the shouting and the chalked dick pics.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 09/07/2025 15:17

Which groups are these? They mention no names apart from ADF?

I'm absolutely sure there's all sorts of dodgy money around - we know that Stonewall was a major receiver of US money - is that what Amnesty are citing? Transactivists in government and the civil service directed hundreds of thousands of £££ at adult trans lobby groups seeking to remove safeguarding protections for children and promote the "born in the wrong body" trope at the youngest of children.

I also understand that the porn industry are major backers of organisations promoting fetish and kink in society.

Maybe that's what the once respected Amnesty are referring to given the lack of detail in that piece?

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 09/07/2025 15:18

GC = sex-realism to most of us.

Sex-realism doesn't require funding.
We all have it. (Even my dog has it.)

Trans people are particularly conscious of this as they couldn't be trans-ing from or to something if sex wasn't real.

No doubt there are many funding organisations pressing for their views on just about everything. That they can do this is part of belonging to a free society.

I hope Amnesty can get back to looking after the rights of all humans.

Greyskybluesky · 09/07/2025 15:21

Ha ha ha.
Do try and write a post without the word "seething".

AnSolas · 09/07/2025 15:21

The organisation which back in the day started off asking people to giving a voice to an unpopular opinion and now campaigns to remove the rights of people to engage in the democratic process Amnesty?

The organisation which is demanding that women should not be recognised as a legal group and that women should not be allowed spaces which dont have men Amnesty?

That Amnesty is worried about Womens Rights?

Pot meets kettle

🍿

Panicmode1 · 09/07/2025 15:22

Amnesty are no longer a serious entity - same as Stonewall, UN Women, the BMA, countless unions or any other myriad of organisations which have allowed gender activists to ruin their messaging and credibility.

Me too!
I even got the teaching pack to share their work with secondary school.

sanluca · 09/07/2025 15:24

Amnesty Ireland said that women who don't want to share changing rooms with their male coworkers should not be allowed to vote.

I don't take anything they say seriously anymore. Vile organisation

fromorbit · 09/07/2025 15:25

Anyone seen any of this money yet? Is the cheque still in the post?

Meanwhile Bee is here creating threads on Mumsnet thus generating revenue for a pro-woman site and also bumping us up in the algorithm so Mumsnetters viewpoints get more views. Maybe Bee is a secret Terf.

Greyskybluesky · 09/07/2025 15:25

Amnesty have the gall to make money off the backs of suffering women in Afghanistan.

Fuck them.

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/07/2025 15:27

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 09/07/2025 15:24

I knew someone who worked for them back in the day. She said her job was to try to work herself unemployed. Instead of doing what they are doing now, desperately trying to stay relevant by throwing women to the wolves.

Have you got a link? I believe you but would love to see it!

WithSilverBells · 09/07/2025 15:29

I'm rather cheered by that article. I read it as an act of desperation on the part of Amnesty; wheeling out the far-right panic button because it knows that its worldview is losing ground.

Igneococcus · 09/07/2025 15:08

And Amnesty, really? Amnesty who thinks sex "work" is fine and dandy, fuck off.

The Amnesty that intervened in FWS but kept their submission out of the public domain? Perhaps they were embarrassed as the submission was as piss poor as the performance of their CEO when interviewed on Woman's Hour?
