ADF (one of the religious right orgs that some GC groups have been in bed with), are specifically mentioned here.

I doubt that many here will be interested given that it doesn't involve deranged, seething hate of trans people, but if anything this is a 'told you so' for future me to use.

A powerful anti-rights movement is growing in the UK

A powerful anti-rights movement is growing in the UK, threatening to roll back our hard-won freedoms and rewrite the rules on whose rights, bodies and lives deserve protection. But - we refuse to be divided. @amnestyUK

@BeeSouriante I asked on another thread you started but you never bothered to answer.

What rights do trans people not have in the UK that other people do have?

They have the right not to be discriminated against for jobs and housing. They can marry anyone who wants to marry them.
They are allowed into same sex spaces.
They can access the NHS for non elective medical treatment.

If you don't answer this time, I will assume you are a bad faith poster not interested in proper discussion.

Just check, if BeeSouriante has started a thread, It won't be worth reading despite all of the accurate, intelligent, well informed comments responding to the initial PLOP post. The OP whose initials are (tellingly) BS, is simply there to cause annoyance and frustration. It's not worth it.

I seriously wish we could get away from the "seething, deranged hate of trans people".

Sorry, I misquoted. It should be "deranged, seething hate of trans people". Not All Trans People Are Like That, of course.

Our analysis maps the nature and finances of 65 anti-rights groups operating across the UK, including anti-abortion organisations, groups promoting so-called "conversion therapy," UK branches of powerful US-based organisations, and ultra-conservative Christian groups, with many groups emerging since 2015.

are any of these gender critical feminists?

I'm happy for anyone to promote "so-called conversion therapy" as long as it's not violent or coercive, which is what most people object to. "So-called conversion therapy" that is actually good exploratory therapy is a really good thing.

It’s really sad that I can no longer have any respect for Amnesty. Their stance on this makes me wonder whether I can trust what they say about other human rights topics.

Put it this way. Would you trust an organisation which claims there is no such thing as a biologically female body to lead the way in the fight against FGM?

It is something that really needs to be considered. Once someone - a person or agency - has declared a belief in alternative reality, can anything else they say or do be regarded as likely to be sensible or trustworthy?

It's a bit 'apart from that Mrs Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?'
