ADF (one of the religious right orgs that some GC groups have been in bed with), are specifically mentioned here.

I doubt that many here will be interested given that it doesn't involve deranged, seething hate of trans people, but if anything this is a 'told you so' for future me to use.

A powerful anti-rights movement is growing in the UK, threatening to roll back our hard-won freedoms and rewrite the rules on whose rights, bodies and lives deserve protection. But - we refuse to be divided. @amnestyUK

From the report, it seems they're conflating American religious groups campaigning against abortion with left wing feminists campaigning for women's rights which makes no real sense at a.
I was at the Bristol woman's place meeting on reproductive rights on the day that Roe vs Wade was repealed and it wasn't American religious nuts who the police had to set up a cordon for, it was trans activists trying to shut the meeting down.
It'd make a lot more sense to lump TRAs in with the religious right considering. They both promote regressive gender stereotypes. They both try to reduce women's rights. They both protest pro-choice meetings.
Its such a shame that Amnesty has so badly lost its way on this subject.

Amnesty used to be great. Really great. I wrote so many letters.

<sigh>

They did, but there was always a propensity to go into very gleeful detail about abuse. And their marketing campaigns got really beyond the pale, a good twenty years back.

If further proof were needed that we live in a post-factual world, this kind of thing provides it.
Any and all kinds of untrue nonsense gets thrown at GC feminists, TRAs and their allies will lap it up, and it will strengthen their irrational beliefs. Verifiable facts have no place in their arguments.

It's a good work-out for our brains to counter the claims in daft posts like Bee's, and sometimes it's so easy to disprove them, it's entertaining. And then there are the recipes🍰😄
But they'll just come back with some other nonsense, or some slight variant on old nonsense, e.g. a slightly different source of all this right-wing money that none of us ever get.😠

I vaguely remembered someone linked to the Scottish Government claiming feminists were getting funding from the American right and then ScotGov having to admit they had no evidence for that. It did happen, it was the execrable Lorna Slater and the marvellous For Women Scotland who found her out.

There’s nothing new coming from the MRAs, it’s all been said before. Their lazy, hackneyed arguments and accusations are just so fucking dull. It takes a real misogynist to imagine that that women are so stupid they must need outside organising and funding in order to defend our own rights.

This

I'm so very very tired of the gender dudes and the women that support them. Be they religious nutcase gender dudes or trans ideology gender dudes. You do realise we experience you both as quite similar, OP?

Gender is regressive whatever the flavour. Women simply cannot be free when gender dictates policies because our opression is inherent to the very concept of gender.

SecretFerret · 09/07/2025 19:24

Anybody else automatically knows who the op is these days just from the nonsense title every time?

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 09/07/2025 19:27

Amnesty "there is no such thing as a biologically female body" International?

That Amnesty International?

Yes.

They used to be ButterflyHatched as well, right?

Is this another thread Bee isn’t returning to. Like a busy bee only visiting each flower once.

But at least real bees fall asleep with their bums and little legs sticking out of flowers, all a covered with pollen. It’s adorable.

I suggest a new game. It's called 'to bee, or not to bee' . If you guess right just respond on the thread with 'Bingo'

Really? Butters was way more of a catastrophiser and wrenched every thread around to talking about themselves.

if they’re the same poster I’m glad that’s under control.

Can we please get the CEO of Amnesty on some more broadcasts? He was marvellous in Operation Let Them Speak. Garbled, incoherent, fact free and blatantly sex discriminatory.

I know 2 people who listened on Women's Hour and immediately checked their bank accounts to stop their donations. Top job!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/07/2025 19:59

I think this is quite possibly a separate poster, but I can see the similarities.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 09/07/2025 20:27

Pot meet kettle, in Ireland in 2017

"The State's ethics watchdog has defended its decision to order Amnesty International to return a €137,000 donation from billionaire and philanthropist George Soros."

I'm betting a lot of the funding they've received since 2017 is also from questionable sources, GS is reported to be funding the insurrection on the campuses in the USA.

Rightsraptor · 09/07/2025 20:34

Where's the evidence @BeeSouriante ?

Amnesty provide none. They just keep saying the same thing, over and over, with nothing to back it up.

You really need to do better than that, Bee.

DuesToTheDirt · 09/07/2025 20:46

Oh, another typical Bee thread title.

To anyone paying the slightest attention, Amnesty no longer has any credibility on sex/gender issues.

Set to broadcast, not receive.

Bee is here to tell the wims what's what. Bee isn't interested in listening to a bunch of silly women. Bee knows best.

I mean, Bee and his ilk always have the issue of shoving themselves where they're not wanted but adding himself to the transwidows support thread is even more dick behaviour than usual. Creepy as fuck and entitled with it.

Summeriscumin · 09/07/2025 18:09

Embarrassing to post such drivel, OP.

Amnesty are a joke to most people these days.

Afraid not. It's the world's biggest and leading human rights org like it or not.

Amnesty Int. a decade ago made the decision to reject the Nordic Model and support complete decrim for sex work instead which has came in handy for beginning to fight against the Ash Regan bill. The MSPs on the fence over it or think it might be a good idea just tell them it's opposed by Amnesty Int. and the World Health Org then they will quickly reconsider.
