My controversial opinion is that most of the Mums who obsess here over penises, uteruses and chromosomes, would pick more important and interesting topics if their own child was trans.

I’m sorry, it is a known fact that tunnocks snowballs are both the most coconutty and delicious of all their wares

@Boiledbeetle, I need you here! The wafers are being slandered!

ArabellaScott · 03/07/2025 21:05

Otherwise known as a Geoduck. I SAID DUCK.

ArabellaScott · 03/07/2025 21:06

I can't believe MN are censoring my image of seafood.

<Bangs gavel>

Order! Order!

As a totally impartial, and not in the slightest bit biased judge I herby declare that Caramel Wafers are by far the best of the Tunnock's products.

Now let that be the end of the matter.

And if anyone ever dares bring a lemon drizzle cake into my court room I will sentence them to 20 years working in a fish market.

I've already sent Arabella to one. As you'll see from her last post!

Caramel wafers?! No chance.

Banished to the salty cock-fish market oh no.

SidewaysOtter · 03/07/2025 21:22

I’m going to get the Good Law Project to appeal this miscarriage of justice for tea cakes, @Boiledbeetle. The grift crowdfunder starts tomorrow.

THEN you’ll be sorry Grin

Despite Bernard and I's spat over tea, I must agree here. Snowballs are by far the superior Tunnocks offering.

I hereby declare that Tunnock's wafers are merely shite Blue Ribands (ducks. Quack)

I have a confession to make.

My Tunnock's Caramel Wafer tin currently contains Blue Ribands. The hazelnut one is lovely.

I was hithertofore unaware of the existence of Hazelnut Blue Ribands. I will be on a mission to Asda upon the morn!

(Side note - love the tin)

Gladly!

Malay fruit and meat curry.

1 large onion, finely diced.
2 apples, cored and diced.
1.5 heaped tablespoons marmalade.
1 big squirt tomato ketchup.
Mild madras curry powder - 2 tsps, to taste.
Chicken stock - about half a pint, more if you’re making a bigger curry.
Cooked chicken, shredded into large-ish chunks.
Sultanas - a handful.

Fry off the onion and apple until soft.
Add the ketchup and marmalade, and stir well.
Add the stock and curry powder, and allow it to bubble until rich.
Add the chicken to heat through, and the sultanas.
Add sliced banana, if you fancy it, and heat through.
Serve with rice.

It is quite a sweet, rich curry - I hope you like it. You can make it with minced beef or shredded lamb - just change the flavour of the stock.

I made it tonight @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius

Absolutely delicious. Thank you!

As we appear to be seguing into ducks and other animals, there is currently a hilarious teddy thread on AIBU.

I can't believe MN are censoring my image of seafood.

I don’t understand. I thought seafood shells were supposed to enclose and protect the fleshy parts?

Absolutely delicious. Thank you!

I'm in Forn Parts, with a garden drowning in windfall mangoes. Gave it a go with fresh mangoes instead of apples, & my homemade mango marmalade.

It was AWESOME. Thank you @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius!

Ooh mango marmalade. Sounds delish

Waitwhat23 · 03/07/2025 22:44

I made (proper Seville orange) marmalade a couple of years ago. Never, ever again. I've been making jam for years. I'm good at it. Have my own maslin pan/tongs/funnelly thing and I don't even need to do the push test, I can just tell by eye.

When I made marmalade everything was sticky. Every surface was sticky, the floor was sticky, everything in the kitchen was sticky, I was sticky and it just got worse and worse. Considered just burning the whole situation to the ground.

GeneralPeter · 29/06/2025 19:07

Bloody hell, I’d be angry if I’d been exposed to that. Wouldn’t you be? Shouldn’t you be?

No, no, you mustn’t be angry when men abuse you. Don’t act as if you think you have human rights. It might upset them.

SidewaysOtter · 03/07/2025 23:02

Ooh, @CorvusPurpureus, mango marmalade. That sounds amazing!

@Waitwhat23, I'm a veteran jam/chutney/jelly maker too and marmalade flummoxed me for years. First batch went in the bin after the sugar inverted, the second batch burned, so on and so forth. Was starting to think marmalade and me were a cursed combination!

And then I found Felicity Cloake's excellent recipe and...proper set delicious marmalade ahoy! https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2011/jan/20/how-make-perfect-orange-marmalade

Can I put in a word for infusing the sugar with thyme for a while first? It adds an extra dimension I find :)

How to make perfect orange marmalade

Do you love or loathe marmalade? What's your favourite additional flavour – and can anything match up to the homemade stuff?

Born in the wrong clamshell, perhaps.

Ohoh, you need to try a Giant Clam. Trust me. It looks practically very much on topic.

Yerk!!!!!
