Mumsnet Obsession With Penises

My controversial opinion is that most of the Mums who obsess here over penises, uteruses and chromosomes, would pick more important and interesting topics if their own child was trans.

That's tiny baby lambs. The lambs we eat will be about a year old.

But as pointed out, this conversation, and the one about currying genitalia, is doing nothing to dispel the idea we are all obsessed with penises. Alas.

If we're not clutching pearls, we're currying testicles.

Alas the lambs round here don’t get that long. About 18 weeks on average.

I did know a woman whose job it was to massage turkeys to collect sperm to then blow the sperm up into the females via a straw. They have been bred so much for breast meat, they can’t breed naturally.

I also know someone who used to stand at a conveyor belt and sex chicks very quickly on an industrial scale. The little fluffy males were thrown into a crate to be killed. I can’t remember if they were gassed or crushed.

Agriculture is a brutal reminder of sex differences.

I'm currently making a curry although veggie, no lambs or balls of any sort here.

I'm regretting it as it is very very hot, will be another 40+ in the shade kinda day.

I've already had to rub one semi feral cat down with an ice cube.

SidewaysOtter · 01/07/2025 12:50

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius would you share the recipe for the curry? Sounds intriguing!

blackframegame · 01/07/2025 12:51

I wonder why my comment was removed, it was perfectly reasonable.

Donkey balls.

😆

I was mainly thinking ; 'How come the donkey does not kick him in the head?'

Gladly!

Malay fruit and meat curry.

1 large onion, finely diced.
2 apples, cored and diced.
1.5 heaped tablespoons marmalade.
1 big squirt tomato ketchup.
Mild madras curry powder - 2 tsps, to taste.
Chicken stock - about half a pint, more if you’re making a bigger curry.
Cooked chicken, shredded into large-ish chunks.
Sultanas - a handful.

Fry off the onion and apple until soft.
Add the ketchup and marmalade, and stir well.
Add the stock and curry powder, and allow it to bubble until rich.
Add the chicken to heat through, and the sultanas.
Add sliced banana, if you fancy it, and heat through.
Serve with rice.

It is quite a sweet, rich curry - I hope you like it. You can make it with minced beef or shredded lamb - just change the flavour of the stock.

Thank you!

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 02/07/2025 17:05

I'm not sure how I feel about curried apples. I feel like it's one of those things I would be willing to try, but it doesn't sound appealing on paper.

I'm thinking the same. I can't decide if curry with apples and marmalade sounds amazing or vile!

Waitwhat23 · 02/07/2025 23:04

I can't bear raisins/sultanas/currants etc so when I make Coronation Chicken for sandwiches, I cut an apple up very finely and mix it through. It's very nice so I can see the merit in curried apple.

May I share MY controversial opinion?

Curry is disgusting.
I hate it.
There I said it. Come at me 😬

I am appalled.
Curry is the food of the gods.

That is controversial.

However, I really bloody love pineapple on pizza.

Get me a hawaiian anyday.

EdithStourton · 03/07/2025 06:57

I had curry pizza once, persuaded by a friend.

I expected it to be disgusting, but it was delicious.

Shedmistress · 03/07/2025 07:19

I used to have curry on toast for breakfast back in the olden days, so if it didn't have cheese on it I expect a curry pizza would be fine.

This is my moment to admit that I hate and despise baked beans, even typing this makes me feel a bit queasy, and I famously eat absolutely anything, including kina (sea urchins) plucked off a rock.

ArabellaScott · 03/07/2025 08:03

Really? Any sea urchins, or are there special types? Raw?

Igneococcus · 03/07/2025 08:09

The first ones I ever had were fresh off the rock in New Zealand, offered to me by my then boyfriend's (Maori) father. Would have been rude to decline but I really liked them once I was over the fact that it was still alive.
I've had them since in the South of Italy, they are nice.
Edited to say that I only ever had them raw, not sure if people eat them cooked as well.

Beowulfa · 03/07/2025 08:30

As fruit in savoury dishes is an abomination, I will bring this thread back to the title to ask if those who work with penises could be described as obsessed by them? Horse &Hound ran an interview a while back with a woman known as the Bean Queen, who spotted a gap in the market and charged £25 per horse penis clean (a bean is a lump from smegma build-up, which can cause infection if left). I'm not sure what she charges for mares who identify as stallions.

ArabellaScott · 03/07/2025 10:23

Sea urchin larvae grow inside tiny see through spaceship like things called 'pluteus' (not sure of plural), float about, and then when ready to land, turn themselves inside out.

Pretty fucking cool.

Edit: Plural is plutei. It can also be spelled pluteuses.

Watch sea urchins turn themselves inside out to be reborn

Every summer, just beyond the crashing surf, hundreds of millions of tiny sea urchin larvae prepare for one of the most dramatic transformations in the animal kingdom.

How do you like them apples?

And you can also buy/eat their gonads, to keep the thread vaguely on topic.
