There's a big billboard at Glastonbury by Led by Donkeys where they are sending people they dont like to Mars. JKR is in the picture.

Interesting that the Guardian don't mention her in the article though, whilst naming most (all?) of the others.

Exactly so it’s a good cross-section, and if it used to be full of trans flags and now it isn’t, that shows a shift in how people are thinking on the trans issue. Of course, it’s not hugely important. No one said it was.

Was it ever full on trans? Maybe people just dont feel the need to fight for it so much now? The hard part is done.

I have no ideas because Glastonbury isn’t my thing. I assume it was noticeable enough for the OP to comment though.

I’m not sure the hard part is done either, certainly not for the trans side. Women keep winning.

Shedmistress · 28/06/2025 18:11

I saw an old friend who is a mayor posting about the pride celebrations last week and not one progress flag amongst it. All the old style rainbows.

Yes there are certainly a lot more females and males in the world than trans so I cant imagine trans will have a big impact on most people's lives.

Maybe instead of imagining, you should actually look into the subject. One trans identified male in a women’s prison, as just one example, would affect every woman in the same facility he came into contact with. Ditto changing rooms, women’s sports, shelters, and so on, and it’s pretty easy to see how big the impact actually is.

It came up at a very ordinary ground floor church meeting the other day- Elders, not youth
church. So it’s truly over 🤣

Our vicar's partner is trans.

Trans people are either female or male. Not a third category

What are the ods that Billy Bragg makes a thing of it at his set on the 'Leftfield stage'?

Anonhi ( formerly Anthony) And the Johnsons are playing too

Edited

Can't see Anhoni mentioned now without remembering the Maria Abramovic dessy island discs with Loz Laverne. MA referred to Anonhi as 'he' because she was talking about past tense. LL couldn't wait to pounce on her to correct the gender, which she acknowledged later anyway, saying he'd transitioned. I'm really glad LL is back on the radio after cancer treatment, genuinely, but I did consider billing her for eyeroll reversal surgery.

Wow the homophoia is dazzling on this one.

My fault for not realising this was in 'women's rights' when I clicked on it in trending.

Well im not sure I care if people who have committed crimes and are in prison are upset about a trans person inside. Sports seem to be doing a good job overall with their rules on trans. Changing rooms well the local swimming pool here has been one changing area for all for many years as it happens.

Sorry I meant people who stay their birth sex must surely massively outweigh the number of people who change their sex

CassOle · 28/06/2025 18:53

Human beings cannot change sex. Cross-sex hormones and surgery are just body modifications, every single person who does that remains the same sex they have always been

Thankfully, some people do care about female prisoners. No males should be put in female prisons.

Jesus, so you don’t care about the women who have been assaulted and raped in prisons because they’ve committed a crime, bearing in mind that most women are imprisoned for non-violent crimes.

Sports, literally hundreds of women have lost out to men.

Changing rooms, if they say single-sex that’s what they should be for the safety and privacy of women. If women want to used a mixed changing space, fine, but many do not or cannot.

You don’t seem to have much empathy for women.

Edit to add, not that I think being raped is ever an appropriate punishment. Some people.

Homophobia? I don’t see any mentions of homosexuality at all on this thread, good or bad.

Well surely the bigger issue in prisons is having male members of staff. If we are talking about females being attacked by males in prisons.

The changing rooms all have lockable changing booths, it's not like you have to get changed in front of everyone.

Is it not less than 1% of people in the UK that are trans? Nothing to be worried about. And then it's not like all trans people are predators or sports competitors? So it's a minuscule amount.

I don’t think there should be male staff, but I also don’t think there should be transwomen because they’re just as male. Many of us have actually campaigned for all female prisons for decades, you know.

a lot of changing rooms don’t have lockable booths, and the ones that do usually have gaps. Voyeurism is massively on the rise and mainly perpetrated by males.

That minuscule amount has a disproportionate impact on the rest of us, especially women. And of course, anyone can say they’re trans and be given access. Oh, and one predator can have countless victims.

We’ve been through all of this a million times. At the end of the day, men are men and women are women and they have different needs and vulnerabilities.

If none of this stuff matters, as you say, then why can’t trans people just stick to the spaces for their own sex?

CassOle · 28/06/2025 19:31

Wow, Eagle, are you really arguing the following?

'There are male members of staff, so who cares about having male prisoners in female prisons? It's such a tiny number, after all.'

What Karen White did should have put an end to this cruel experiment long ago (and TBH, it should never have happened in the first place).

moanamovie · 28/06/2025 19:32

I went to Glastonbury years ago and my group made a flag saying ‘NOT MY DAD’ on it. It was a great place marker for our camping spot!

CassOle · 28/06/2025 19:32

Agreed. Or use unisex facilities (where appropriate and possible).

It doesnt have a disproportionate effect on the rest of us. A lot of people dont give a toss about trans people other than finding it a bit weird or confusing. Although im sure they would have a higher chance of being ostracised by other men. Same way gay men used to be.

So all the women who’ve literally been affected by it are just lying? Just because you haven’t experienced anything negative doesn’t mean you can just dismiss all the very real concerns.

Reminds me of Jo Whiley the other day, playing an absolutely rubbish new song by Kate (now Kae) Tempest. Made sure to get in the fact she was now a "he", lots of breathless plaudits, etc.

Followed it straight up with You Can't Always Get What You Want by the Stones 😁
