if you want uncool, our school has been pushing a Pride ‘dress in rainbow colours’ day for the past couple of years. So far as I can tell at the start the kids mostly went along with it as a day out of uniform, but there are now plenty of boys coming in in their uniform, a few dressing all in black, and even a couple of brave ones this year brought in US flags. I’m not sure how much longer this has left to run.

Yep, my 23 year old family member is fully submerged in the trans life. Now only friends with others who support TWAW.

My own teen dc who are politically left wing, pro Palestine etc think it’s all a fuss. Dress as you want but you can’t change sex would be their view.

The young adult space relating to what is/isn’t cool is fickle. Nowadays, trans people are neither cool nor uncool - they aren’t of particular interest. Anyone ‘banging on’ about trans rights is uncool and anyone claiming TWAW is cringe.

🤷‍♀️ they’re a fickle feckless bunch. Flags no flags pink flags blue flags whatever flags.

But the NHS and the BMA (🤢), TU’s, Civil service loads of others are captured. Too many men in positions of power. It isn’t going anywhere, whatever the kids think.

I passed by a Pride gathering in a nearby town last weekend, the flags were nearly all straightforward rainbow flags, which LGB people have been using for years. I think I only saw one of the ones with an intrusive ‘trans etc’ arrow (which seemed to have been becoming ubiquitous for a few years), and one separate blue, white and pink one. Plus one other goodness knows what colour combo.

I walked through my town centre yesterday and only M&S had some pride stickers on their doors. Surprisingly, Lush and Oxfam didn’t have anything. The only other place I’ve seen flags is at one branch of Sainsburys, and that was just a rather sad string of bunting hung above the escalators.
There were a load of posters advertising a pride event that weren’t particularly rainbowy and I don’t think they had any trans colours on; they’ve all been ripped down.
I hope this is the last year that the company I work for has a pride month banner headlining the intranet home page. They did stop being stonewall champions a few years ago, but we had a no nonsense, female CEO at the time.

We're all aghast at what's happening in Gaza. However, what this refers to is groups like Queers for Palestine. There appears to be a total lack of understanding that the Middle Eastern country with the best record on LGBTQ+ rights is Israel. Most of the others are places where being openly gay would put you at risk of imprisonment and/or violence. Life is complicated. We shouldn't be trying to oversimplify it.
