I meant if she had for example murdered my mother in cold blood- no I wouldnt give a toss about her cell mates.

Ok, but again, we are discussing how the law and prisons should work.

Your understandably emotional reaction to your mother being murdered by another woman is not a useful basis on which to base public policy.

It’s why we have judges and juries to make sure there is parity between punishment for similar offences.

As I said above, the threat of sexual violence is not acceptable as a form of punishment in any civilised society.

Haulage · 29/06/2025 20:10
  1. Credulous
  2. Craven
  3. Dishonest

I’m going with 3.

Well what we're all doing here is making sure that this doesn't happen to your (hypothetical) friend. Whatever she's locked up for.

We're moving the man to a different cell.

To a different prison, so not in any woman's cell.

Well everybody feels strongly about something.

I dont know what your going on about but I've never said I think the threat of sexual violence should be a form of punishment

Well that's your thoughts. I genuinely don't feel scared or nervous or anxious around men I dont know simply because they are men. It's how they act, their eyes, what they say, their body language, the vibe/6th sense I get from them.

I also know from your posts that you have zero idea how prisons work or about the risk management involved.

You are out of your depth here and you should thank your lucky stars that other, much wiser, much braver women than you are willing to put the work in to protect all women.

Enjoy your beverage in the garden.

Just watching a bit of Rod Stewart. Saw a sign I thought said 'Trans for Rod'. Then the camera zoomed in and it said 'Nans for Rod' Grin

this is ace

You've either been incredibly lucky, or you're incredibly naive. Or just stirring.

I'm around men almost every day of my life. I'm starting to feel like some people on here dont interact with men at all.

That's correct the prison service and criminals is not something I think about in my day to day life. I don't know the inner workings of the system.

I have some amazing men in my life. That does not make me naive stupid enough to think all men are amazing. Have you done any reading of the myriad, intelligent, well researched posts going back years on this board, as you were recommended to many pages back? No? Thought not.........

Where did I say I think all men are amazing? I know that men are behind most violent and sexual crime. As I keep repeating it doesn't mean I feel anxious around men I dont know and it doesmt mean sex is the only factor I use in determining how safe I feel with someone. I also dont base my life decisions on posts ive read on places like mumsnet.

ETA, which bit did you not agree with?

I don't doubt that most here would agree.

I don't feel particularly anxious around men I don't know.

I don't use sex as the only factor I use in determining how safe I feel with someone.

I don't base my life... Etc.

But...

This does not invalidate the need for single sex spaces. You, or I, do not consent for all women.

I'm glad you haven't (and if you're a woman I question this) seen the potential and willing that some men have to size and strength to subjugate women. That they declare themselves to be women shouldn't make a shred of difference.

Don't you see?

PonyPatter44 · 29/06/2025 21:31

I work with men all day long. Unpleasant men, for the most part, in a mens prison. I am also well acquainted with a number of people who have been in high- and medium-secure psych units. They don't all act like Randle McMurphy.

I don't think any of them should be in women's spaces. They need their own spaces, for everyone's privacy and decency.

There are definitely fewer Progress flags around this year.

Ignoring the AI Pigeon Troll

Does anybody have updated pictures from Block 9

Pleased that the AHF holder got down the front again tonight

Yes not all men.
No to males in female spaces.
Yes you are welcome to share any of your personal spaces with men you don't know (don't expect other women to feel as free with their personal spaces).

DiamondThrone · 29/06/2025 23:12

Aaaaaanyhooo, back to trans pride flags. Still not seen any today!

Did someone mention the AHF one? I've been out today.

Thanks for the thread. It's been a massively derailed rollercoaster 😬😆

A lot like a lot of the other threads this evening...

Haulage · 29/06/2025 23:56

I saw the AHF flag mentioned on a thread, being waved vigorously at Rod Stewart I think

I was in the process of replying to say you make trans people sound like monsters but it was already deleted, so either MN agreed with me or someone else on here did!

Anyway, thanks everyone for the debate. I cant carry this on tomorrow so I'll need to draw a line somewhere otherwise I'll keep replying! Perhaps watch some documentaries on trans people to hear their stories and it might help with some of your concerns.
