In what way does trans ideology affect you? Just curious as I've never thought about it

My opinions and views havent changed. I know that on this thread the majority would think differently to me. I've often looked at threads under this topic and know it's the most extreme corner of mumsnet thinking.

Which is it, Eagle? You know, you might risk giving the impression that you are not posting entirely in good faith.

Ffs honestly. Can you really not grasp what I'm saying about for me sex doesnt come into determining how safe I feel around a person. Can you at least take that on board.

I didn’t mention sex. We were discussing whether someone seemed “risky” due to perceived mental problems that you deemed a potential problem.

Shedmistress · 29/06/2025 18:16

Eagle2025 · 29/06/2025 18:02

Well where do I start? Running around the room panicked and talking to themselves, laughing loudly and uncontrollably to themselves. I'm sure you can appreciate what I mean! That would make me far more uneasy than simply a man being in the room.

Simply a man being in a room, or simply a man being in a female only single sex space?

Either you're being disingenuous or you're a complete idiot.

Trans doesnt bother me. I have no issue with someone being trans. That hasnt changed. Trans ideology is not something I'd thought of in terms of why it would bother people if other people support trans? But not having an issue with trans people hasn't changed, in response to some of the comments I was replying to. I've looked at feminist threads before and I was aware most would not agree with my thoughts!

Well let's stop there then because I was talking about sex

Either. The sex of a person is not the thing that determines to me how safe I feel around them.

Eagle2025 · 29/06/2025 16:16

Yes if you think that all transgender women are rapists or paedohphiles then I can imagine you would be scared for her. And yes a row of toilets at night time when your alone with two men entering could potentially be alarming depending on the men. But we do have separate male and female toilets and I can't see that changing. If two men want to walk into female toilets at night time there is nothing stopping them.

Nobody is suggesting that are all trans identifying men are rapists; but some may well be...and that is the basis on which we have single sex facilities for women and girls. To provide a level of safeguarding. And also, as already stated on numerous occasions, to preserve the dignity and privacy of sex ( by generally common consent).

There is nothing but the social contract to prevent anybody from doing anything. We rely on people having respect for common rules and regulations and the generally agreed consensus in order to operate and function in a civil society.
But just because some people care nothing about consensus or consent - it doesn't mean we should not arrange society in a way which suggests that they might.

Trans is nothing but a framing device for someone who wants, for whatever reason, to present as the opposite sex. People with trans identities are not a different kind of human being from everyone else...and they remain either male or female like everyone else. What the hell has identity got to do with anything?

I agree I wouldnt want men and womens toilets to be mixed. Not least because I think men's toilets are yucky. But what I dont actually have a problem with is a transwoman using the female toilets. I still appreciate he is biologically male though.

The post you quoted doesnt refer to identity but your own post does so I'm not sure what you are meaning?

But he's exactly the kind of man that makes the men's bogs 'yucky'. Aka, a man.

Why cant you believe me? Think about any nice man you know. Picture him in your head. Now think of a female person you wouldnt trust (I'm being careful how I word this so as not to offend). Now imagine waking up beside both of them in hospital. Are you honestly saying that simply because the woman was female you would feel safer beside her?

You are, of course, free to use unisex facilities if you prefer them.

The point about public spaces is that they are full of people you don't know, and whose movements you have no say in. We've all got lovely husbands, fathers, brothers and sons, and male friends who we love...but most of us still want the privacy of single sex spaces in public situations.

Yes women can be horrible too......but the level of instinctive safeguarding is just not there in the same way as with a male person...and I think you know that too.

Thinking about it, I'd much rather be led by a donkey than led by a lion. If you were led by a lion you'd be standing around for 23 hours and 45 minutes of the day while she had a good sleep, followed by a rather hairy and gory 15 minutes of holding on for dear life as she chased down a zebra (or, in a UK context, possibly your neighbour's Labrador). Donkeys are quite steady and patient and probably pretty decent at following trails and things. They'd also give you a lift when you got knackered.

I don't think they've thought the name through.

This is a great post😍

Ffs. It's like trying to sum up a situation then someone wants a detailed explanation.

WithSilverBells · 29/06/2025 19:25

One Progress Pride window sticker in town, two low-key window stickers in the city (one being M&S ofc 🙄). Absolutely nothing in Tesco, whereas you couldn't move for Pride stuff in there a couple of years ago. No actual flags anywhere
