Actually 36,000 now. Heartening to see in these horrible times. It's always wonderful when you see people come out to stand in solidarity against the manufactured anti-trans panic.

Women tired of being told that their rights are threatened by trans people are using a petition to stand up for inclusive feminism

so what is your point? that a pregnant transman shouldn't have protection???

How did you reach that conclusion?

Brefugee · 30/06/2025 18:05

that is not extra rights, people of religion also have another layer of rights.

I didn’t suggest they were the only group covered by hate crime legislation. It was a direct comparison with the rights that women have.

What happened there? @ParmaVioletTea ’s post was just about Karon Monahan’s Double Jeopardy interview where she discussed the effect of the SC ruling on transmen’s right to pregnancy and maternity protections.

Well, quite.

Just to be pedantic, most men did have to fight for the right to vote too - in the 1850s only about 10% of men had the right to vote as you were required to be a land owner as well as male.

So no man living have ever had to fight for basic rights….got it !!!!

where as my mum couldn’t have a bank account without my Dad agreeing, she couldn’t be on the mortgage, wasn’t able to have a life saving hysterectomy without my Dad agreeing…who was then instructed about my mums condition by the doctors ….but my mum was not.

So many more women’s rights thats are still pretty recent …. That we are still fighting for.

So yeah….a tad pedantic !!!

ParmaVioletTea · 02/07/2025 18:15

That's horrific about your mother having to have her husband's permission for a life-saving operation, @Katkins17 As if her fertility is his possession. Grrrr

Oh yeah, my aunt couldn't get a mortgage without a man signing the forms.

And don't forget, marital rape only became illegal in the UK in 1991.

I'll say that again: marital rape was legal in the UK until 1991.

Haulage · 02/07/2025 19:29

I once had a job which was basically putting paper patient records on computer. I came across a form for contraception from the 1970s which asked whether the husband consented for his wife to get the pill!

Datun · 02/07/2025 19:37

It was perfectly legal to refuse to serve women in pubs, on the basis that they were women, until 1982.

But 30 million women say no.

I think they're trying to hijack MN just like they're trying to hijack everything else of ours. In a country of over 65 million 36,000 ain't that many.
I shall be un-watching this tread.

Roughly .0005% of the UKs population.

I don’t know about you, but where exactly is this a significant and meaningful percentage of women? Most are probably supposed feminists who are really just TRAs, and I would venture to guess that a lot of TW.

SlackJawedDisbeliefXY · 10/07/2025 21:08

Wasn't the NION survey championed by pink news?

With a global audience of more than 100 million unique users every month, PinkNews delivers content across its website, social channels and app.

I'm surprised that only 35,000 out of a possible 100+ million unique monthly users signed

That's less than 0.035% of a bias selected group.

Ah, I've just read the article. It claims instead of single sex, workplaces can have have mixed sex fully enclosed cubicles.
Well even if that is the case, it's still not the victory many are claiming. That the EHRC have backtracked and TIM can use the ladies again.

And don’t t forget, the EHRC guidance states that employers and companies may leave themselves open to possible litigation if they do not offer single sex toilets should women protest it isn’t offered to them.

I don’t know about any of you but I refuse to use a mixed sex toilet. I do not want to see any man in my toilet especially around that time of the month. These types of toilets are known to be unsafe for women and that most rapes and SAs in public places occur in these type of toilets. No thank you.

Transpeople are protected at least twice under the 2020 Equality Act by virtue of their trans status: under the protected characteristics of 'gender reassignment' and 'sex.' Also 'sexual orientation' if relevant, age etc as are all UK citizens.

As they should be protected.

What I object to is that they claim more rights, or that their rights under the PC of 'gender reassignment' trump my rights under the PC of 'sex.'

There is no hierarchy of protected characteristics.

And transwomen are not "the most vulnerable."

On average, two women/girls are murdered every three days, mostly because they're female. There are more transwomen who are murderes in the UK than there are transwomen murder victims ...

There is still a sex-pay gap of between 15 - 20%

98% of sexual crime is committed by men (including transwomen); 85 % of victims of sexual assault/crimes are women and girls.

More than six women are murdered daily in the US.

In 2022, less than 40 trans people were murdered in the US. In that same year, over 2,300 women were murdered. 9 out of ten of these women were killed by their male intimate partner.

No contest, women are the more marginalised.

Trouble is that then feeds into the narrative that people are being censored,

Either delete with a meaningful message as to why, or keep it and add a sort of official MN warning after the post. Something like "Before replying MNers should be aware that this poster's style tends to broadcast only so they are unlikely to engage meaningfully with any subsequent discussion".

(In the interests of balance I'm happy to carry a warning myself "this poster tends to be verbose and not let go")

Just saw this while catching up, @FlirtsWithRhinos.

Felt a curious affinity with the last paragraph - permission to share? 😅

Question: Is there anything more tedious than a narcissistic trans activist?

Answer: No. No, there is not.
