Another mass peaking moment, but lets step back and consider how insane the situation is.

Jill Foster

Let’s be clear, I think MartineBBC
is an absolute star and her eye roll spoke for all of us.
But it’s 2025 and every newspaper from the Times to the Mail and Evening Standard are carrying a story on the fact she said women can get pregnant.

What a time to be alive.

A few years ago she would have lost her job, other people have done.

She said (well, implied) that ONLY women can get pregnant. Truly groundbreaking stuff 😂

It's a pun on the song "Stand By Your Man", I assume

Sounds like the kind of thing Jordan Gray would bang out on the piano.

This is what Sooz Kempner has said on Bluesky. Please make it make sense:

If you reject "pregnant person" when referring to women, AFAB and non-binary people who are pregnant what you're saying is you don't think women are people. You fucking weirdo.

Any chance of screenshots, please?

That's got "I'm biological and a woman therefore I'm a biological woman" vibes. i.e. logic fail-arama.

sanityisamyth · 23/06/2025 23:30

Just seen it. Brilliant!!

lcakethereforeIam · 24/06/2025 02:18

I'm not breaking the champagne open yet but, this is encouraging

Although, if I were a glass half empty type person, I'd be a little depressed at the breadcrumbs tossed our way. I'm grateful to Martine but to be genuinely fearful that this could cost her job. To know that this will see her the target of unhinged rage and batshittery. That this is how it is now. A newsreader using the word 'women to correct a scientist, a scientist, who didn't and it makes the fucking papers!

WarriorN · 24/06/2025 07:00

She’s attracted a lot of attention now; she probably feels very unable to post much on SM.

I hope she and Justin Webb are in a supportive WhatsApp…!

joe bangles as asked her favourite cheese.

port and Stilton?

EasternStandard · 24/06/2025 07:24

Brilliant good on her.

MelodyMalone · 23/06/2025 17:20

Good to see BBC are backing her. The Times article was interesting and does seem to mark a shift.

Tg the BBC are if do, not long ago she’d have lost her job. Crazily that would the case.

She’d better not now.

The thing is, she is and actual woman. But yes, same vibez.

AwardGiselePelicotTheNobelPeacePrize · 24/06/2025 08:29

I am going with "pregnant carbon-based life forms" from now on, to be extra inclusive

On that article:

SEEN in Journalism

People who say ‘why is it a big deal’ don’t understand that this has done more to tell BBC staff that things have changed than any staff-wide guidance.

What it tells them is that gender identity complaints activism is losing its power. This is what’s huge.

The gender mafia are losing their power inside the BBC.

The ripples from this are huge. All coming from the women who started fighting back, the courtcases they won and the medics who told the truth.

WhatterySquash · 24/06/2025 11:09

DiamondThrone · 24/06/2025 08:15

Yes Sooz is a champion handmaiden. Falls over herself a lot to wade in with useless "arguments" to try to put people who care about women, children and gay people in their place.

As a PP said, her argument is like saying that if you say "Black lives matter" instead of "People's lives matter" you're saying black people aren't people. Is that right Sooz?

There was a link on a thread some months (possibly longer) ago to a strategy document that was about adopting TERF language to use it against women. So if TERFs talked about gender ideology TRAs should start using the phrase GC ideology, if TERFs use biological woman then TIMs should describe themselves as biological women a la Dr Upton ,essentially linguistic DARVO

I can't remember who produced the document but it wasn't Denton

…and yet they think that tactic doesn’t support OLTS?

These people are not very smart. 😂😂😂😂

Biology is now an ideology 😂😂😂

Herbert seems to be floundering in the interview. I think he had a script in his head but once he had other questions fired at him he just couldn't cope. Intelligent he isn't....

He expected to be dawned over with the special voice that is reserved for the most vulnerable, marginalised people 🙄
He wasn’t prepared for even the most polite prodding

Just kept repeating "Trump's America" and "how would you feel if someone said you weren't a woman" as if those were brilliant arguments.

The term “pregnant people” isn’t about being nice and inclusive to trans identifying females. It’s about making sure the words woman and women doesn’t exclude trans identifying men. If you say “pregnant women” that excludes them, because it points out women doing something these men can’t: be pregnant.

As always, it’s all about the men.

💯

absolutely agree

its another way of men keeping control and making sure they are centre of all decisions made in our society

We never hear about people with prostate cancer, do we?

womanbornn · 24/06/2025 11:56

India Willoughby, Iran’s biggest fan, is encouraging people to complain to the BBC and asking for
Martine to be sacked. If she wasn’t gender critical before this incident, Martine definitely will be now!

lcakethereforeIam · 24/06/2025 11:57

India Willoughby is a real piece of work.
