There's a lot of people I get grumpy with, but no I don't hate any group of people, that would be silly

I don't usually engage with this poster but for the benefit of the lurkers:

"You really really don’t like women do you?"

gets turned into

"I don't hate any group of people"

A live example of TRA hyperbolising and inflation of language to twist and misrepresent what has been said. Don't like gets turned into hate in a click of size 10 heels.

<waves to the lurkers> We were once you, wanting to be kind and not really understanding why some women were so determined to not "be kind'.

Yes, the catastrophising and absolutism tactics are also very evident.

RedNine · 29/06/2025 10:04

Indeed.

Speaking from the experience of my own family I can say that it might be the case here that this poster doesn’t see the difference. Cant not won’t iyswim? My autistic DS said of his own dad last week “I don’t think he hears adjectives”. Black & white thinking is a terrible disability and causes a lot of conflict in my experience. No excuses (and no idea if this is what’s happening here) but it’s not something that can be helped or changed unfortunately. So not always a “tactic” is really my point

Yes. This is true.

if it is pointed out, does your DS’s dad understand he is doing it?

womanbornn · 29/06/2025 11:13

When posters come here from reddit time and time again to make statements (not engage) about trans subjects along the lines of: TWAW and other such simplistic tropes, I suspect there’s some level of internal struggle with their identity. If you’re truly at peace and happy with who you are and utterly convinced that trans women are actual women, there’s no need to come onto a forum for feminists and try to convince them they’re wrong.

Total denial in the first instance usually quite acrimonious. Over time and learning more any criticism seems to trigger his Rejection Sensitivity and there’s no reasoning at that point. We have to wait for a”state change” of his nervous system and he’ll normalise and often apologises profusely. Unfortunately over time those wear rather thin.

ETA a state change in his case is - immersion in water (swim/bath), sleep or food

Exactly.

Tbf hate is a fair rephrasing of really really don't like.

DifferentChoicesTooLate · 29/06/2025 17:17

Oh I’m laughing to myself….

Let me see how this goes.

Women: We really really don’t hate TRAs in fact many of us know trans people and support them. But we don’t want men in women’s only space.

TRAs: You hateful bigot

Women: of course we don’t hate a group of people that would be silly. We just want women’s only spaces and our rights to be protected.

TRAs: You hateful funded by Nazis bigot

Women: ????
