On Bluesky yesterday. Sorry if there’s already a thread but I couldn’t see one. The replies would indicate this is a common thing. Really?

It's amazing how women are suddenly being questioned, whereas transwomen have never been questioned because they pass so well. Is this because transwomen are not only women, they're also so much better at womaning than we are?
As someone who's 'as flat as a pancake' and with short hair, I haven't been questioned ever.
But then I'm not a TRA, so there's that.

Transwoman are better at womaning than women, stupid.

(See India's comment about JKR for reference)

In my younger days I was once the designated driver for 3 friends at a party, As I drove them home in the early hours of the morning, I was stopped by the police. Of course the car was stinking of alcohol and they breathalysed me,even though I’d only had soft drinks.

Of course I passed the test and they send me on my way politely .

Which proves that our drink driving laws are wrong, I was entitled to dignity and protection from vigilantes like those police officers. We need to repeal all drink driving laws and let everyone drive after consuming the amount of alcohol and drugs they feel comfortable with .

ThatsNotMyTeen · 22/05/2025 18:14

He’s so full of shit

So we are simultaneously meant to believe his wife gets challenged in changing rooms while TW who may be built like a brick shithouse claim to have been using women’s facilities without problem for years?

Utter nonsense

RedToothBrush · 22/05/2025 18:17

You know when your six year old comes home from school telling a story about what one of their mates has told them and it's obviously their friend making up total bullshit?

That.

Cailleach1 · 22/05/2025 18:53

I have no idea if this is true or not. It might have happened. Or it might not have happened. I would be amazed if it were true. That is just my personal opinion though.

However, there is another possible scenario. Just for arguments sake, there could also have been an arranged ‘challenge’, or ‘query’. In order to be able to say, hand on heart, that there truly was a ‘challenge’ of the type that was previously mooted by said persons on twitter. A real life enactment of an imagined scene, so to speak. Not saying there was. But there could have been. We do know that exact fictional scenario was mooted by one of the said characters, and amplified by another of the said characters. Then ‘whoosh’ the post with the fictional play was deleted from twitter, and what do you know, it was alleged to be a real life occurrence.

Or maybe such an incredible thing happened.

I mean it's one thing to fudge facts in support of a cause you believe in - though I think barristers should avoid doing so.

But Jolyon seems to be turning into one of those small boys you sometimes meet who tell you that their dad is a hitman for the CIA, or space aliens landed in their garden last Saturday.

Do you know how I think this is going to pan out? JM himself will make a massive announcement saying that he is also trans, it’ll be his last, desperate attempt to keep the grift going. Seriously, Joanne Maugham step forward 😂😂

Nah.

I wonder whether we could set out a JoMo bingo card predicting all the things he's going to invent next.

Amazing that 6-foot plus men like Robin Moira White have used women's toilets for years with no problem (or so he says), but when a small, short-haired woman has a mastectomy, she's immediately challenged as being in the wrong place.

This.

Or in other words; cool (made up) story, bro.

Jolyon: transwomen use the ladies' loo all the time and nobody ever notices

Also Jolyon: GC women are accosting women who use single sex spaces while not having big boobs

I think by now we know more about Jolyon's weird imagination than we ever needed to know.

And even if his (very obviously female) wife is 100% with him on this, it's still disgusting to use her illness as a prop in online arguments.

Well said.

"The woman who posted this invective on Bluesky a month ago has now, according to her husband, been "challenged" by "vigilantes" at the swimming pool. Meanwhile she has deleted these posts. What are the chances? And has the cat got her tongue?"

The Scottish Sun piece from 2020 linked in this twitter thread quoted mumsnetters (including me!) on the TRA outrageous use of women who have had mastectomies.

1 in 8 women will get breast cancer, 25% of those will have a mastectomy - about 15,000 women a year (according to Google) - so it's sadly very common. If they really were being misgendered surely we would hear about it all the time.

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 22/05/2025 19:29

RedToothBrush · 22/05/2025 19:14

thenoisiesttermagant · 22/05/2025 19:41

I find it honestly quite astounding the limited intelligence and the lack of understanding of what women want (all the ones that aren't being coercively controlled or trying to be cool girls at least). Most men really don't try very hard to understand anything beyond what blokes want, in particular safeguarding, do they? (notable exceptions being the decent men, the Glinners, the Peter Dalys the Ben Coopers and others).

Even if women were being challenged because they have had a mastectomy - which is obviously highly unlikely in the real world - that doesn't undermine the need for female only spaces for the most vulnerable women and girls AT ALL.

I don't care if someone challenges me - if they do I'll speak and they'll hear I'm female and that's that. Not a big deal. Certainly worth a tiny few seconds of social discomfort to keep people like 'Katie' Dolatowski out of deceptive so-called 'women's' toilets where he can attack young girls.

I'd take someone challenging me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I use a public toilet over even one child being attacked. Because that will stay with that girl for life. And we KNOW this will happen if men with special identities are allowed in because it's already happened, multiple times.

Funny how they care about their imaginary female friends' hurt feelings but not about safety for women and girls. It's such an obviously male point of view.

YesYesAllGood · 22/05/2025 19:46

You know, it’s interesting, because I’ve heard a lot of anecdotes like this over the past couple of weeks. Apparently lots of masculine women or women with mastectomies etc now being challenged in the women’s toilets and how this is a catastrophic consequence of our gender critical campaign to keep transwomen out of women’s spaces.

But they didn’t seem to notice when their self-ID campaign led to women being sexually assaulted in women’s prisons (eg Karen White), or women being sexually assaulted in women’s toilets (eg Katie Dolatowski - actually, I think those victims were little girls), or female athletes losing medals to and being physically assaulted by males (eg Imane Khelif), or, for that matter, young lesbians being permanently altered by surgery and hormones even after regret (eg Keira Bell).

I am so sorry for any woman (or man) who is genuinely made to feel uncomfortable in their sexed spaces since the SC judgement but it just isn’t comparable with what has been allowed to go on before.

DragonRunor · 22/05/2025 19:52

moto748e · 22/05/2025 15:45

I can believe that butch-looking women 'might' be challenged more in recent times than in the past, but surely that would be down to the rather fevered climate that has been created by media fuss about this so-called massive upheaval, which is of course nothing of the sort. Women now having every reason to believe that there are much bigger numbers of males in women's spaces than there ever were previously.

After all, we keep being told that TW have been using the ladies for decades without anyone even noticing. Maybe that would make some women hyper vigilante? Still don’t think many women would actually be mistaken for men if you spoke to them

thenoisiesttermagant · 22/05/2025 19:59

The very same people who told us to 'enjoy our erasure' and didn't give a tiny shit about women and young girls being sexually assaulted are supposedly so concerned now about women's feelings. Pull the other one!

It's just blatant bullshit and foot stamping because women said no.

Are they for real? I'm actually in disbelief about how ludicrous this is.

BackToLurk · 22/05/2025 20:22

“Breasts or not”. For some reason, that’s the bit that’s really stuck out. “My wife deserves dignity, even without tits”. What a guy.

dubaichocolate · 22/05/2025 20:22

I wonder if CM having a double mastectomy has caused either her or JM to reflect on their daughters’ futures. It’s one thing to know they might be or are binding their breasts but it’s another to know that mastectomies are likely in their futures, having been through it yourself and knowing exactly what it entails - the major surgery, the recovery, the emotions. Or maybe they can’t address it, because to do so would be to question what they’ve done. Or maybe they’ve separated it into separate categories as hers was because of cancer and theirs will be by ‘choice’.

SongoftheSpoon · 22/05/2025 20:56

Thingybob · 22/05/2025 11:49

Given his personal circumstances, I can't understand why Jolyon spends so much time fighting for transwomen to access women's single sex facilities. Why isn't his focus on the young female NB and trans masc cohort who surely need to use either female spaces or gender neutral ones.

Because it’s a fashionable and lucrative bandwagon to jump on and he cares about neither women nor trans people - it’s all about the size of his enormous ego.

If his wife was challenged it would have been along the lines of “How can you stand being married to that sanctimonious buffoon? Does the mental imagine of the kimono whether real or fictional not give you the most profound feeling of ick?”

illinivich · 22/05/2025 20:59

yesyessllgood its a really good point.

I'd argue that Isla Bryson cause more awareness for normies than the SC ruling. But the SC ruling has had a bigger impact for TRA.

It makes no sense that these challenges would happen now, and not after bryson.

They cant talk about men being challenged in male changing rooms, because the solution has already been addressed. So have to create pressure to not question anyone in the womens. Without people complaining about men in womens spaces, they hope that providers will turn a blind eye.

Exactly. Kate Harris made this exact point on Woman’s Hour on Monday. It’s not plausible.

How did he manage to get into her kimono? 👘. It must have been very oversized.

He must have been very chilly round the front, as he abused the fox. I hope none of the neighbours were watching.
