I just popped onto Bluesky to see if those on the RSOH had any sympathy for Karen

and nope! None whatsoever

it’s all her fault for failing to deal with her trauma about being sexually abused and taking it out on poor Rose. Theyre also horrified that Rose has been mis gendered in the article and complained to IPSO

and that’s what we are up against and why we are where we are

id also missed the part that he was living with a female partner and trying for a baby

wtaf

People like to slag off The Mail but this is a very well written piece.

There's a lot that they can't say that they've still managed to get in to aid our understanding of this situation.

Years ago a woman was vilified on here for saying that this was a Pervert's Charter.

She was absolutely right

I was talking to one of my DHs friends at a BBQ yesterday, he's in his mid 40s, single, hipster type guy, works in film/music industry. I genuinely cannot remember how we got onto the subject, I try not to bring it up as if I do then I can't stop myself, the floodgates open and I start ranting about women's rights! Anyway, he started talking about the supreme court ruling and I thought "oh no, here we go" and steeled myself to hear the usual bullshit and tried to plan what I was going to carefully say to defend women's rights. I was planning to use Sandie and the Darlington nurses as my examples.

But he completely surprised me and said, what a relief that the supreme court has clarified things and it's a sensible, correct decision. I nearly fell off my seat! Then he immediately went on to say this whole ideology is a Pervert's charter. He said I've seen enough of these type of men through my work and the gigs I go to etc. He also said it was annoying him that the news was constantly bemoaning about the poor men and what about the brave women who stood up to Scot govt and amnesty international? I was so happy he got it I gave him a huge hug!!! Hopefully now IRL more and more people will start to see the hurt and damage it is causing, particularly with awful stories like this.

Cowardice is a major factor. I'm sure there are many NHS managers who know it's wrong, but won't speak out. After all, they're not the ones who have to use the changing rooms at work.

I agree, cowardice has gone a long way towards it.

Also, trans ideology relies on sexism. You can't exploit something that isn't there. The fact that it's women being sacrificed and women suffering isn't a coincidence.

FiveBarGate · 11/05/2025 09:55

ArabellaScott · 11/05/2025 09:41

He has been named elsewhere.

But tbh I don't think that's necessary. The problem here is not the man in changing room per se. It's the people and policies that have enabled him.

I agree. We don't need Rose to be a wrong 'un. That allows the Isla Bryson 'not proper trans' arguments. Trans enough to force 16 year old girls on a beauty course to undress but.....

Focus on the individual isn't the point, it's that however nice they might be, their presence is enough to traumatise women .

Pretty disgusting that there's a woman out there who is in a relationship with this vile person and is trying to get pregnant by him. Her bar must be on the floor...or down in the basement!

Abusers like him will target the very vulnerable. Rose's partner may have learning difficulties, ASD, addiction or have mental health issues.
God love her.

KnottyAuty · 11/05/2025 09:56

Thank you Karen (if you are reading) for coming out to speak about this. Your video - in your own words and without the filter of the media - is so powerful. You are so brave to speak up and I am sorry that all of this has been done to you by the NHS in our name. It is appalling.

Unfortunately it is not just Karen's trust that has this policy of withdrawing treatment from any women who object to a male in a single sex ward. They are all operating this policy but the only way you know is by Freedom of Information search - appallingly secretive. The attach image is a screenshot from a London NHS Trust policy:

“Why aren’t you getting changed”. Man asks female Darlington nurse this 3 times in female changeroom
guinnessguzzler · 11/05/2025 09:57

Reading these details, it's no wonder Wes Streeting has offered his support (although I appreciate things haven't moved as quickly as they would have liked). I find it absolutely incredible that there are so many cases where it is so clear cut, precisely because the TRAs simply can't reign themselves in. The bearded footballer. The doctor claiming harassment because the nurse won't strip off in front of him. And this one, which really does top them all.

Of course it shouldn't be that those passing get a free pass and legislation absolutely shouldn't be based on how people look, which really rather shows it all up for the nonsense it is anyway. But, it's been the constant pushing at the boundaries that has finally got the attention of those who previously wanted to just be kind, either through finally understanding the harm or through being forced to see it through the courts. No amount of being kind was ever enough, and I do wonder what the next goal was if they hadn't finally triggered a pushback at this point?

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 11/05/2025 09:57

INeedAPensieve · 11/05/2025 09:41

I know, it's awful. It's the same with Sandie Peggie. That I know about a stranger's menopause struggles and bleeding/flooding (which should have never have come to light, that she had to share that fact) due to the fact of a bloody entitled, creepy man is so fucked up. Worse that Karen had her health endangered due to the creepy man in her situation beggars belief. I spoke up at work the other day. My team are all be kinders and shouted me down using words like "toxic debate" and shit like that. But I don't care anymore. My card is marked now but women should not have to put up with this and I am so angry at the enablers as well as the creepy men. Fuck them all. Sorry for swearing, I'm just so done with this bullshit.

"The angry enablers" very apt term.
Nhs bosses are utterly shameful in these 2 cases.
Good luck in your workplace struggles
💐

ArabellaScott · 11/05/2025 09:57

Just occurred to me that any woman patient asking for female only care might have had 'Rose' on the team.

Lolapusht · 11/05/2025 09:59

Absolutely disgusting treatment 😡

How DARE they say they want everyone who works for them to feel supported?!

The fiasco surrounding Karen’s surgery should be criminal. Clearly punitive due to the concerns she raised. I’ve never read anything like it. How can they spout asinine tripe about care and support and every being included when they can so callously ignore the concerns of a CSA survivor in favour of a bloke who says he’s a woman. Revolting.

This is a perfect example of why SSS are so bloody important and I’m sick of all the weasely comments about “how will you know?” or “lesbians will be assaulted in the ladies”. Fuck off. If we don’t keep men out of SSS then abuse survivors have to endure further trauma and that’s not acceptable to me.

All those people on here who defend TWAW and want mixed sex toilets, how you justifying this story? Because there is no way you can stand by your arguments without admitting that you think traumatised women are less important than men. In this situation, the man in his exposing boxers is more important to you than a woman who suffered horrific abuse at the hands of her dad. If that’s the case, you are not a good person and your opinions are worth nothing.

To Karen and the Darlington Nurses, I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this pathetic issue. You are trailblazers and you will win. Your fight will help other women. Karen you are incredible and I have a huge amount of respect for you. The strength you have is phenomenal. When you’re going through Hell, keep going!

oh dear God.

The EHRC needs to address this specifically.

They actually have to hold up these few paragraphs as an example of a breach. Not generalise, specific.

That “case study” is all over multiple NHS policies.

Everyone involved in the perpetration of such cruelty to this nurse should be utterly ashamed of themselves. They should also be sacked as they clearly don’t have an ounce of humanity or care.

That even one nurse should suffer so badly at the hands of her employers is unacceptable.

These people are the personification of evil - and I don’t say that lightly.

And exactly as happened to Karen - object and your treatment will be withdrawn.
NHS policy

FarriersGirl · 11/05/2025 10:04

Karen is so brave to speak out like this even if she feels she has been left with little choice. If I had my way this article would be glued to the desk of every NHS HR director and every NHS CEO and they need to be locked into their offices until they have read it and acted upon it. 😡

teawamutu · 11/05/2025 10:09

Anyone feeling the rage and wanting to turn it into action - the NHS Audit Working Party thread is, shepherded by @KnottyAuty and @TwoLoonsAndASprout , meticulously working through every single NHS trust in the country and compiling the receipts of all the ways they've sold women down the river and lied about it.

It's fucking enraging and depressing, because as both Knotty and Loons have said, they're ALL at it - but evidence is how we shame the NHS into changing.

Knotty's already wrangled us multiple Telegraph articles just for London.

Datun · 11/05/2025 10:09

ArabellaScott · 11/05/2025 10:00

Exactly.

Rose might be blameless, it doesn't matter.

Rose is male.

I agree it doesn't matter what this person has done or hasn't done, and that the only criteria is that they're male.

However, the entire edifice was constructed to enable men to do exactly this. Men like this.

This is for them. So personally I can't separate their motivation out from the criteria required to exclude them.

Even though I know their motivation is not required in order to be excluded.

Any man and all men must be excluded, but it's because of these men that we're having to fight it.

And I include the enablers in that. Perverts and misogynists are two sides of the same coin as far as I'm concerned.

teawamutu · 11/05/2025 10:16

I've just read the Mail article and I want to break something.

But I think I'll send the nurses a card instead. A nice deluge of postal support sent care of Darlington Hospital's HR department might make a point?

I have nothing but contempt for those people. We're told we need to be kind and think of all those trans people terrified because they don't want to use the toilet that matches their sex but they show nothing but utter disregard for Karen and women like her.

Absolutely contemptible bastards.

MayMadness2025 · 11/05/2025 10:17

Ohisitjustme · 11/05/2025 09:49

That has made me tearful. Those poor nurses. It's shocking

I agree. However, the people that need to read this are often the ones that say they avoid any discussions on trans because women aren't being kind to trans. The same old story, move aside, make way, be kind, allow this abuse to happen.

I'm saddened and disgusted.

NoFineBalance · 11/05/2025 10:18

TheKhakiQuail · 11/05/2025 08:00

Even if there was absolutely no other factors involved, how can you put a doctor or nurse in the operating theatre involved in surgery on a patient they are in a legal dispute with. Surely, it is a very clear conflict of interest, and risk to all involved.

I'd actually classify this as a physical threat akin to assault. Telling her (with glee, I imagine, a tilt to the head and asking Karen to be kind) that when she is completely powerless, this Rose person will have access to her body. Certainly it is bullying and intimidation. Whoever made that decision needs to lose their job and never work in any profession where safeguarding is an issue.
