This isn't the first time this has happened is it? I expect IMHO there will be more cases like this happening given the current obsession with trans people and how masculine or feminine people look.

"A woman and her girlfriend were thrown out of a luxurious five-star hotel after a security guard allegedly accused her of being a man using a female bathroom.
Ansley Baker and her partner, Liz Victor, were at the Liberty Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts, attending a Kentucky Derby party on Saturday.

The couple was using the women’s restroom in the foyer when they heard a bang on the stall doors, they told CBS News Boston.
Baker said she was in one of the stalls as Victor waited around the corner near the sinks. The hotel says that security was alerted by several women that the couple was sharing a single stall. Baker and Victor deny being in the same stall.
The male security guard allegedly began urging Baker, who was born a woman and identifies as a woman, to get out of the bathroom and accused her of being a man
“All of a sudden there was banging on the door,” Baker told the local news station. “I pulled my shorts up. I hadn't even tied them. One of the security guards was there telling me to get out of the bathroom, that I was a man in the women's bathroom. I said, ‘I'm a woman.’”"

If men weren’t using women’s spaces, then no one would be suspicious.

2024onwardsandup · 07/05/2025 15:54

Can’t recall this being an issue for the gazillion years when women’s toilets where always meant to be for women - why would it be a big issue now?

Walkingonmoss · 07/05/2025 15:55

I will believe you are motivated by a concern for women, when you link to all the threads you have started about the negative incidents women have received since the loss of single sex spaces.

frenchnoodle · 07/05/2025 15:55

Pink news, pink news..

I wonder why women are scared of men in their spaces?

Maybe because men have been invading their spaces illegally for 10 years....

NotmeMother · 07/05/2025 15:56

Breaking News; a women who likes to look manly is asked to leave a women's toilet on another continent! Gasp!

MouseLouse · 07/05/2025 16:00

This is horrible. The increase in male bodies using the woman's space is what has lead to this unpleasant policing of women and their gender expression.

The security guard in this case however seems to be bang out of order, acting unpleasantly and creating a scene.

Once again though the toilet issue is a red herring, the real issue is male bodies in female prisons, in female hospital wards and other vulnerable spaces.

This was in America, where their politics are rather different to our own.

andtheworldrollson · 07/05/2025 16:01

Slightly confused - banging on the “stalls” door suggests they were in the same cubicle which is not normal unless you have a toddler in tow ?

Trump's America. One could say they are just as "gender critical" as Britain is.

And one other may say they are not.

PetaltotheMedal · 07/05/2025 16:05

"Cisgender" I don't know that word @Christinapple , please can you explain what it means?

JanesLittleGirl · 07/05/2025 16:07

You do know that Donald Trump is no more gender critical than you are don't you?

BettyBooper · 07/05/2025 16:07

How did I know who the OP would be before opening the thread...? 🤔

Then you are showing your ignorance again.

porridgecake · 07/05/2025 16:08

Hmm. I wonder if the security guard manufactured the situation in order to pander to certain people. Or the whole thing was staged. Nothing would surprise me.

Huh? No it doesn’t. How does it suggest that?

Then surely you can link to a lot more?

For now, you have one (1) incident, happening in the US, not the UK.

" I expect IMHO there will be more cases like this happening given the current obsession with trans people and how masculine or feminine people look."

Which wouldn't have happened if the TRAs hadn't insisted on pushing men into the women's toilets.

Blame the TRAs.

Stepfordian · 07/05/2025 16:11

I think a woman would really have to go to some effort to be mistaken for a man, and then for the mistake not to be immediately apparent upon her speaking.

amber763 · 07/05/2025 16:12

Read "cisgender", a slur by the way and my eyes rolled out of my head and across the floor.

Treeper22 · 07/05/2025 16:12

I am occasionally stopped at the doors of a supermarket because the security alarm goes off. The security guard stops me, checks my reciept, acknowledges it is a mistake and we both move on with our day.

If the security guard is aggressive I would complain about his conduct.

I didn't and wouldn't demand that supermarkets get rid of all their anti-theft mechanisms because of an occasional glitch in the system as I recognise that preventing theft benefits all of us over and above my personal inconvenience.

Helleofabore · 07/05/2025 16:12

Oh gosh... and considering the number of male people who have been posting all over social media that they will continue to use female toilets when they know that they should not be, some even forming groups to make little videos about doing it, will those male people take responsibility now that their direct actions are leading to women being fearful more than ever?

That would be great. I expect you, Chris to go over and tell them all to stop with the intimidation on their social media. I even saw one ask a male person now charged and about to face court in Florida how best to get caught in the female toilet so they too can make it a protest arrest.

teawamutu · 07/05/2025 16:14

... And everyone on the bus clapped.

The latest argument for allowing men into women's spaces is that if you try to stop them, vaguely masculine women may get questioned.

Makes perfect sense.

If men weren’t using women’s spaces, then no one would be suspicious.

This happened to my ex, and my EX ex, since they were children.
I actually began a thread about tips for handling it, about two years ago and had a tonne of vitriol in the comments, including some vile ones such as 'We see you, you trans agenda people' or something like that. It was VILE and the first thread that ever upset me, in decades of being on mn.

CleaningSilverCandlesticks · 07/05/2025 16:14

Oh look, an article about how a man entered a woman’s toilet was aggressive towards a woman.

TheOtherRaven · 07/05/2025 16:17

Ooh Chris you must be thrilled!

Soz love, I'm happy to reassure other women as often as necessary than have to deal with a man in a single sex space.
