Girl guides are not safe. Parents beware!

From James Esses:

A whistleblower from
@Girlguiding
has been in touch. Volunteers have been instructed that, irrespective of the Supreme Court judgement, boys who identify as girls can use female camp rooms and toilets. Worse still, parents must not be told.

This is a safeguarding nightmare.

I would take things like this with a pinch of salt. There are a lot of people who like to create outrage.

I must have dreamed the apology Girl Guiding had to make to Katie Alcock about this very thing.

Oh, wait...

Girl guides are not safe. Parents beware!

This has been the case for several years already though.

I get that you’re referring to their new decision to continue as they were, but your title implies a change of position, when there hasn’t been one.

Girl guides are no less safe today than they were before the SC ruling, as boys were already sleeping in girls’ tents with them without parents’ knowledge, as I understand it.

Previously they may have erroneously believed they were following the law (being generous).
It’s far more sinister that they will now be openly defying it.

moto748e · 25/04/2025 18:13

Treeleaf11 · 25/04/2025 17:00

Who is going to enforce what the SC have said? Seems to me that a lot of organisations will ignore it. Surely it cant be up to individuals to take them to court one by one.

A good question. And one that might well be put to the Prime Minister.

bigknitblanket · 25/04/2025 18:15

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 25/04/2025 15:53

That is official girl guide policy as it breeches the trans persons right to privacy.

Yeah, and sod the girl’s need for privacy!

But before, they could claim they were complying with the law as they (mis)understood it.

Now, they will be openly breaking the law. I hope police are as eager to clamp down on that as they have been to punish misgendering.

"This never happens"
Yet it absolutely does happen, all too often.

Motheranddaughter · 25/04/2025 18:20

I quit as a Guider after the policy came in
Taking teenage girls to camp is hard enough without allowing boys to come
And when they said we couldn’t tell the parents, then that was it for me. (After 25 years)
I actually can well believe they will try to continue despite the SC case

moto748e · 25/04/2025 18:21

There must be quite a few organisations in that particular fork.

ladymalfoy45 · 25/04/2025 18:28

@Wtfppl no. We don't have them.

A bit tricky for girls from Muslim families on camping trips. Effectively, Muslim girls are excluded. Very inclusive.

FedUpandEatingChocolate · 25/04/2025 18:31

Honestly, I'd much rather my daughters embraced a trans child into the GG unit than me fired up about this ridiculous non-issue. I'll continue supporting my girls on their guiding journey.

There are a whole generation of trans people who are now terrified, why are we allowing this horrific level of discrimination and hate speech.

LittleBigHead · 25/04/2025 18:34

are continuing with their inclusive policies (which are a safeguarding nightmare).

"Inclusive" policies which actually exclude girls and women ....

Whaaaaaa? All the Supreme Court did was to clarify existing law.

And have some empathy for girls and women who live with male violence All.The.Time

PS Transwomen commit crime at about the same rate as men. Because they are men.

I'm not sure 'never mind the lassies, let's pander to the laddies!' is quite the winning point you think it is.

Ah but are your daughters teenage boys? And if not, how do you know??

Sounds a bit bigoted to me.

And FYI, tooo late, mate.

It is possible to want female-only spaces and organisations to a remain spaces and organisations for people who are biologically female, at the same time as respecting trans people. There are 250,000+ trans-identifying people in the UK. Half the population is female. Re-engineering the whole of society to meet the needs of the trans minority, as advocated by Stonewall, is a nonsensical as replacing steps with ramps and stairs with lifts in every public building in the land because some people are wheelchair users.

Nothing stopping them embracing a female child that identifies as a transboy then. Still doesn’t mean males need to be allowed in.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/04/2025 18:57

As has already been pointed out, there’s an appropriate alternative to GG for gender confused boys - they, along with any child regardless of sex or ‘gender’ can join the scouts.

BobbyBiscuits · 25/04/2025 19:05

But why do people need to get naked or take their clothes off in front of others at guides?
Do they not have normal cubicles for changing for swimming, sport etc?
I'm not saying trans women should be allowed to look at girls when they're undressed but I just don't see why any adult of either sex should need to at a hobby group?

Yeah. NO. I'm not having my teenage daughter sleeping or showering alongside a male bodied teen however they identify. I'm not going to do anything to trans people but single sex must mean single sex for the safety, privacy and dignity of our daughters.

EdgyWasp · 25/04/2025 19:07

I’m not on X, have Girl Guides replied yet?
I hope this gets lots of coverage. I seem to recall someone getting fired because they shared safeguarding concerns about this?

Tents don't have cubicles unfortunately

It's not just about boys joining though. It's about adult males sharing showering and sleeping accommodation with girls without their parents being aware males are present.

GG say all their leaders are female. The safeguarding assumes they are all female. Yet they allow adult males to self identify as female to go places males would not be allowed. It's an absolute safeguarding nightmare.
