Stumbled across this thread on Reddit. A load of TIMs sharing their experiences of having a period.

The placebo effect can make some people believe anything.

I find it funny how they all have “abdominal cramps”.

A lot of women (including myself) find the cramping to be much worse in our backs.

I shouldn’t have read the Reddit posts because it made me raging angry.
I have large fibroids and have had two years of suffering, next month I’m having a hysterectomy after months on a waiting list, I’m terrified after my mum died due to complications with hers. I really wanted to find another solution but there just isn’t one.

My relationship has suffered badly because we have no intimacy due to pain and I sometimes feel like we are just roommates. I suffer with incontinence and the pain of cramps has been so bad I once visited A&E convinced I was dying.

I wonder if any of these delusional men even know what a fibroid is?! DP didn’t have a clue and he’s 40!

I have had miscarriages, an ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cysts and have never been able to have children, my reproductive system has given me nothing but trouble.
To read utter drivel about men thinking that if they are “a bit cranky” or have some cramping that they know what it’s like to be a woman is so insulting.

As for Modibodi… I’m glad I saw the advert a pp shared. I was about to purchase a menstrual swimming costume for my friend’s daughter, I’ve recommended the period pants to multiple people.
I won’t be buying from them again and think it’s disgusting that they affirm this nonsense.

Ah but I had my “womanhood handed to me”.

Who should I thank?

@SenselessDrivel, “our preferred gender” just says it all, doesn’t it. I’d prefer so many things to my reality - I’d prefer to be a millionaire, obviously, and never to have to deal with chin hair again - but that’s fantasy. How did we get to the point where the whole world has to play along with some mentally ill men’s play acting?

It seems funny to address a nice message to 'SenselessDrivel', but hey you picked itGrin

I'm sending you best wishes for your procedure next month. I can understand how personal all this pretend-period nonsense is for you.
I hope everything goes well for you, SenselessDrivelFlowers

Thank you, it was just changed to respond to a benefit bashing post and I forgot to change it back, this has been a good reminder thank you!

It refers to Ricky Gervais calling everything Karl Pilkington said on the XFM days “Senseless Drive” 😂.
