Stumbled across this thread on Reddit. A load of TIMs sharing their experiences of having a period.

Oh, I wish I hadn't read this.

From another perspective, my lovely son says he is trans. He knows how I feel so but I don't want to be cut off so basically, we don't talk about it & I live in hope he will leave the 'cult' and 'grow out of it'. I am utterly, utterly terrified of him taking hormones and the potential effects on his body. He hasn't said anything either way. He's away at Uni so I don't get the opportunity to chat F2F often and want him to be happy and safe coming home.

I'm sorry you're going through this. My ds is on the fringes with a lot of his friends expressing various gender IDs and at least two have cut ties with parents because of insufficient reverence of the gender-cult so I see it's a risk. It does seem to mostly involve "I am who I say I am" though with some mild gender-non conformity and spicy haircuts rather than hormones or permanent modifications.

If its any consolation, scant I know, oestrogen seems to do less of a number on the male body than testosterone does on the female body. As long as they stop short of genital surgery there's always a way back.

I suspect that a good 90% of those posting on that Reddit thread are describing their rich fantasy life rather than stuff actually happening.

"I'm not oppressing you Stan. You haven't got a womb!"

Quite. My ex would blame ‘TOTM’ rag week, shark week etc for any issue I raised. I asked him once if he had any clue which part of the cycle he was referring to. He did not.

The last time he said it I pointed out that as I was on HRT - the same medication which had caused my mum’s fatal breast cancer - I didn’t have a TOTM any more, just a time of my life. And that he could fuck off.

I’m not sure why these biological fetishists are so desperate to experience feeling weepy and cranky and having ‘abdominal bloating’ when its just dismissed and used as an insult for women by misogynistic jerks our whole lives.

Why would you want to co-opt that discomfort and humiliation?

Why would you want to co-opt that discomfort and humiliation?

Sissy humiliation fetish.

Well obviously I do agree with the point that you think I was trying to make, but no. I think you're getting hung up on the word missed, but I meant what I said. We do all know when we have had a period and when we haven't.

Girls who have never had a period, necessitating medical investigations, know that they haven't had a period. If a girl gets a tummy ache but no blood, she will never think she has had her first period. We are never confused about the fact that if you don't bleed, you didn't have a period because it actually means something to us.

Rare medical condition is another thing that not menstruating could mean.

I think you're getting hung up on the word missed

I'm autistic. "Literal-minded" is quite the understatement.

Imagine if these men had ever had enough respect to listen to a woman for once in their lives. I mean not just pretend to listen. I mean listen absorb and process the information spoken. And to actually think 'oh this has value, i am going to remember that rather than immediately dismiss it and forget it instantly'

Just once.

Women are totally invisible to these men. They are support humans or blow up dolls.

15. Men are the default human. Women are strange subhuman others.

Yes - just imagine if they actually listened and said, “Huh. I didn’t know all that about the female menstrual cycle. Maybe I’m not actually having a period after all? Is something else going on?”

Except - we all know that isn’t going to happen, because the whole “I am experiencing a period with mood swings and cramps!” thing is either 1. a lie/ made up/ pretend; or 2. psychosomatic. And we all know that it’s actually really 1., because they all know they’re really pretending.

KnottyAuty · 05/04/2025 01:24

Or they are constipated. Apparently oestrogen does that - who knew?!

DD won’t thank me for telling you this but she had terrible problems with cramps and nausea (age 8 well before periods) because of this. Laxatives and more fruit & veg sorted her out.

Reddit crew - if you’re reading - might be worth a try

That's fine. Might be better in the future to avoid telling people what they were trying to say.

I wonder if any of these guys arseholes are jealous of the quality and quantity of shit their mouths expel?

What is concerning is when you hear stories about when their endocrinologists offer them ‘cycles’ for the hormone supply. If this is true, these specialists are driving this misogyny. They are fully complicit in supporting these episodes, in fact of creating these episodes.

I guess once medicos decide that they are going to affirm these male people, there are few ethical boundaries. They are already supplying unnecessary treatments and surgeries. Already feeding in the affirming language and discussion.

Adding another layer by creating unnecessary cycles of unnecesssary, and potentially harmfully long term, drugs is probably not even registering as an ethical quandary at this point.

Plus, when you consider that it was medical doctors who were assuring these male people decades ago that they absolutely were now women and should enter female single sex spaces, I guess the time for them to understand the misogyny of their actions, individually and collectively, has passed.

Seriestwo · 05/04/2025 08:33

Misogyny has has a home in medicine since the days of the wandering uterus. It has always been thus.

puffyisgood · 05/04/2025 08:46

I sometimes think with this particular issue that a number of the online claims about TIM's having symptoms related to a menstrual cycle have been made by bad faith actors looking to make 'the trans cause' look ridiculous. I don't think that any self respecting trans person of sound mind, even a fairly extreme trans activist, would ever claim such a thing. It's just such an obvious nonsense.

Datun · 05/04/2025 08:46

totally.

Back in the beginning, I saw a couple of videos of these men bouncing up and down on beds, flicking their hair, crying into a pillow and demanding chocolate - because , you know, periods.

You could also buy period kits (probably still can). Dye filled capsules you shove up your arse which melt and come out into your pants.

As a PP said, as fetishes go, it's pretty grim.

That's no doubt the difference between men with a fetish, and men with gender dysphoria.

booksandbakinglover · 05/04/2025 08:48

What’s a TIMs?

HaveYouActuallyDoneAnyWashingThisWeekMum · 05/04/2025 08:48

What a bunch of deluded cranks.

The oy women they listen to are the ones who encourage this nonsense.

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 05/04/2025 08:57

TIMs should wear period pants?!? To make themselves feel comfy and affirmed?!?

Oh man, that is some marketing genius there.

Datun · 05/04/2025 08:58

booksandbakinglover · 05/04/2025 08:48

What’s a TIMs?

A TIM is a trans identified male (transwoman). A man who identifies as a woman.

TIF is the female version

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 05/04/2025 08:59

Also, there goes another company I won’t be wasting money on.

Datun · 05/04/2025 09:01

What the ever loving fuck???

Do trans women have periods?
Many trans women have periods. Some trans women don’t have uteruses, so they won’t bleed as part of a monthly menstrual cycle.

it was misrepresenting enough, but this is just outright bollocks

HaveYouActuallyDoneAnyWashingThisWeekMum · 05/04/2025 09:02

Do these people realise that this is a fetish, and they are recommending that women and girls not just participate in it, but encourage it one hundred percent?

Again, another day when I thought I couldn't be shocked
