You know what they say: Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.

I'm puzzled by the inclusion of 'The Countess (NI) [sic] because I doubt very much if an organisation named after Countess Markievicz has a separate operation within NI..
And WTF did 'Belfast Health and Social Care Trust' ever do to them??

I love the comment by the poster, Malcolm Clark, regretting that it was 'in alphabetical order and not a league table. Otherwise I'd have known who to donate to.' Brilliant!

Let's all start gardening like mad for Belfast Health and Social Care Trust! Feck knows what it is, but it must be doing something rightGrin

Belfast Health & Social Care Trust is one of the regional organisations that comprises NI’s version of the GB NHS.

The publicly-funded healthcare in Northern Ireland technically isn’t part of the NHS (you can’t use NI prescriptions in GB chemists for example) so the various regional health & social care trusts in NI perform the same function as the NHS does in GB. The various trusts are funded by Stormont (when it’s actually functioning normally and not being boycotted 😒) from the funds allocated to it by Westminster (same as with Scotland and Wales). Everyone here still refers to, and thinks of, our healthcare as the NHS tho.

We always have to be different here in Norn Iron 🤷‍♀️ 😉

Should we all expect a visit from the rozzers? I haven't put my dinner on yet ...

Not again, we were all ready to have a nice break in the cells that Christmas and they never turned up. Can't remember what it was for

HipMax · 08/02/2025 18:24

Excellent. I'm very proud

I have to say that on the occasions I've seen where trans and nonbinary people share their opinions on a relevant thread, the reception hasn't been overtly transphobic- to avoid the moderation, I feel- but it's certainly been frosty. It usually descends into derailing as people ask personal questions to the trans poster instead of replying to their relevant points or responding to the OP.

So, it's not explicitly transphobic, as a whole. But I also wouldn't advise a trans person to openly post on here, as others have said.

If you are referring to FWR, I think one of the distinctive features of a lot of posters on here is that we like facts, provable facts, and we usually back contentious things up with reliable sources - yes sometimes we absolutely lose it completely😄but that's not the norm.

It's obvious, having been on here for a while, that there are people with legal, scientific, technical, medical etc expertise on this thread, which is invaluable.

So posters on FWR will inevitably meet that expectation of traceability and accuracy, and that can be tricky with some topics.

BiggerBoat1 · 08/02/2025 18:07

It is transphobic. Own it - or be more open to discussion anyone who does not share the party line.

Why don't you give examples of the "transphobia" on MN?
In fact, why don't you define what "transphobia" is first? Then explain what the "party line" is.
And, please, be specific.

It was Dawn Butler. She called the Met Polis on us.

It might be an absolute fuck up interesting social experiment to see what would happen to society if they put all mothers in prison.

LillyPJ · 08/02/2025 18:36

Isn't that just one person's opinion? It's hardly evidence-based or official!

arethereanyleftatall · 08/02/2025 18:37

😂😂😂😂 @ArabellaScott

Waitwhat23 · 08/02/2025 18:41

I'm actually quite proud to see so many Scottish women's organisations on that list, who fight tirelessly for the safety and dignity of women, their right to have single sex services and spaces and against the wholescale institutional capture of our local and national organisations. If your take on that is that those listed are 'anti trans', then frankly, you are anti women.

Women won't wheesht.

eatfigs · 08/02/2025 18:41

Anti-trans and transphobic are two different things anyway.

I don't think there's anything wrong with being anti-trans, it means being opposed to the ideology.

Ah yes, it's all coming back to me now.

Scutterbug · 08/02/2025 17:37

Mumsnet IS mainly transphobic though. It is not a site I would advise anyone with trans related issues to turn to.

Mumsnet is not transphobic!!

I can guarantee you that 99% of the women on here would be polite and courteous to any respectful transperson they meet.
They wouldn't hurl abuse. They wouldn't physically assault them. They wouldn't call them slurs. They wouldn't try and doxx their details.

They would simply smile and get on with their day.

Not wanting a biological to follow you unto a changing room isn't transphobic. That's asserting your right, as a woman, to a single sex space.

Yet here you are.

spannasaurus · 08/02/2025 18:46

I can't work out why any poster who believes mumsnet is transphobic continues to use the site.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 08/02/2025 18:48

"Not again, we were all ready to have a nice break in the cells that Christmas and they never turned up. Can't remember what it was for"

I have made a cake this afternoon- I can fit a file in it!

Yogre · 08/02/2025 18:48

Did they also list: Reality, the universe, Logic, biology and human eyes?

I believe they are also considered transphobic.

Myalternate · 08/02/2025 18:48

Why is it that women always have to defend our position regarding our rights?
It’s as if we have to actually apologise for the privilege of being born female 😵‍💫

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 08/02/2025 18:52

namechangeGOT · 08/02/2025 17:59

Absolutely they'd be welcome. They can come and tell us what year biology, science and fact changed.

Why do you think this is what all trans people believe?

See this is what I mean. This isn’t a belief of all trans people.

But moderate ones won’t speak out because they are seen as being like this.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 08/02/2025 18:53

Msmoonpie · 08/02/2025 18:01

Those who claim Mumsnet and posters to be transphobic never seem to be able to substantiate it.

Other than “You’re mean to want a female only space”

My eyes roll so much one day I'm scared they're going to stick.

It's like a klaxon call, they need to meet the quota set each day to drop a 'mumsnet is so transphobic' post, bonus points for avoiding saying what is actually transphobic, extra point for saying 'those posts get deleted so of course I can't give any examples, but it's TRANSPHOBIC!'. Same posters too usually, it's cringe. Even when pertinent points are put to them. Town Tumbleweed.

Have a day off.

It's a post. Disagree with it. Then get over it.

TWETMIRF · 08/02/2025 18:56

There are a number of transwomen who do understand that although they wish otherwise, they know that they will never actually be women. They use the gents without issue and respect women. I suppose they are also anti trans?

CuriousGeorge80 · 08/02/2025 18:56

There are people who post on MN who are clearly transphobic. Like there are people who post on here who are clearly racist or homophobic etc. Any denial of this would be ridiculous. Of course, that doesn't make the site itself transphobic, racist or homophobic. It doesn't make everyone who posts on here transphobic, racist or homophobic.

There are plenty of people who participate in discussions on trans related issues on this site that do not demonstrate transphobia in what they say. But there are some who do.
