Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on 6 February.

Access to view the hearing remotely can be obtained by sending an email request to [email protected] headed Public Access Request (Peggie v Fife Health Board) 4104864/2024 and requesting access.

Yes, it's very unfair IMO.

I don't think it will intimidate NC, and SP has Maya etc. with her so hopefully is ok

Boiledbeetle · 07/02/2025 11:47

Panel has arrived

Judge needs to address some issues first.

Still over 109 in lobby

If I recall correctly, the other "big" Employment Tribunals seemed to top out at round about 100-150. Is that right?

Edited

Do you mean amount for settlement?

GCITC · 07/02/2025 11:47

And we're off!

FeralWoman · 07/02/2025 11:47

Are they using a potato to stream this? The quality of the picture is bloody terrible. The sound sucks too.

RavenT · 07/02/2025 11:47

WFTCHTJ - does that mean I should be eventually let in?

RocketPanda · 07/02/2025 11:47

Anyone want a jammie wagon wheel? Crackers and wensleydale with Ballymaloo relish?

ThatPithySheep · 07/02/2025 11:48

I do like the way NC says 'issues' - it sounds v. posh😂

Yes, it's very unfair IMO.

Sandie has a wall of support too, though only virtually. There wouldn’t be enough seats for us in person.

Boiledbeetle · 07/02/2025 11:48

NC bringing up some issues

Finally under 100 waiting

Eek! My post was completely ambiguous! I meant people watching.

But how can anyone have a fair trial if that's the case? It means any organisation with money will always win - as soon as it goes their way they do this, and don't admit fault.

Yes! Unless both sides have enough money and determination to make it a test case. Is that possibly the case here?

Still letting people in. About 50 to go

I’m just in

CriticalCondition · 07/02/2025 11:49

So NC says one of the issues is that the respondents have failed to produce relevant documents in compliance with a disclosure order.

The BMA emails?

Yes! I was wondering about this upthread. How much longer can they allow that to drag on?

Boiledbeetle · 07/02/2025 11:51

Lobby seems to now be empty, so if you're not in you may want to try again!

Ineedashero · 07/02/2025 11:51

I'm in whooo

nauticant · 07/02/2025 11:51

NC really needs to be closer to her mic. I think the system has software to detect the start of speech and because it's missing the very start of hers it's sounding very choppy.

The BMA emails?

That's my guess too.

Boiledbeetle · 07/02/2025 11:52

I'm missing what NC is bringing up as the sound is so crackly

ThatPithySheep · 07/02/2025 11:52

I think it's emails about how/why NHS Fife decided this was something which warranted suspension

MarieDeGournay · 07/02/2025 11:52

FeralWoman · 07/02/2025 11:47

Hey, don't underestimate the power of the potato! If we could post pictures, I'd post one of a clock run by a potato - a potato would probably be doing a much better job of streaming thisGrin

Mayaisashero · 07/02/2025 11:52

Labelling a complaint 'hate incident' doesn't suggest that one is open to an impartial investigation, no?
